Economic Methods Lectures

This module will give a brief, practical guide to the core methods of econometric analysis. This is a complicated topic that requires refined skills and a great understanding in order to be done correctly, so we will work to build the fundamental skills via a simple progression through the most important aspects.

This module will not be based around any particular software, so will help you to understand the meaning behind the methods, and not just what buttons need to be clicked! As it is a complicated subject, our economic methods lecture will serve as a fantastic extra resource for those that need to do some additional learning on the topic, but also for those that may have missed lectures covering this subject.

  • Time Series Lecture
Introduction: Welcome to the next lesson of this module where we will cover the topic of time series analysis. Within this, we discuss the different ways that time series data can be analysed through regression. Initially the OLS regression method is considered, which is the basis of simple regression models and instructs us of some of the essential assumptions that must be considered to produce valid regression models.
