APA 7 AI reference generator

Enter your source details

Use the details on the source. * marks required details. Leave optional fields blank if they do not apply.

AI tool and output

For example, ChatGPT or Claude Sonnet 4. Use the name shown by the tool.

For example, OpenAI or Anthropic.

Do not guess a version number.

Use the chat’s descriptive title, not the full prompt. Sentence case: capitalise the first word and proper names.

Dates and access

Use YYYY-MM-DD for a specific chat. For the tool generally, enter its update year.

Use the chat’s sharing link for a specific chat, or the homepage when citing the tool generally.
