In the series some Shrek’s advancements were learning to live with talking donkey, named Donkey and rescuing a princess from an vast fire-breathing dragon. In Shrek 2 Shrek he defeats Prince Charming and saves his Princess Fiona. In Shrek Forever After, Shrek undoes all of Rumpelstiltskin’s misbehavior in the expectations of saving his friends, restoring his humankind and reclaiming his family. Shrek first befriended a talking donkey, named Donkey even though he was irritated by Donkey eventually he learned to adopt and live with him. He then later with the assistances of Donkey defeated a dragon in order to save a princess named Fiona. Later Shrek faces a conflict with Prince Charming and the Fairy Godmother. His wife, Princess Fiona was casted a spell to fall in love with Prince Charming. This was done so that Prince Charming would become the king of Far Far Away. Shrek conquers a tall, dark, and handsome Prince Charming and the dumpy and chubby Fairy Godmother with Donkey and the help of a new tiny friend, Puss in Boots. In the final series of Shrek, Shrek was tricked into signing a contract with the persuasive and petite dealmaker, named Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek abruptly finds himself in a twisted alternating version of Far Far Away. In this universe, ogres are hunted, Shrek and Princess Fiona have never met, and Rumpelstiltskin is king. In the end, Rumpelstiltskin was overpowered by Shrek and imprisoned. Shrek reveals multiple advancements by overcoming these complications.

In the first series, after saving Fiona, Shrek was like falling in love with Fiona and Fiona was falling for Shrek too. Shrek overheard Donkey and Fiona talking about how no one could love something so hideous and ugly. Fiona was actually talking about herself; this is because she has gone from a beautiful princess to a fat ugly green ogre. He misinterpreted what he heard; this causes him to push Fiona away. Shrek chose to leave Fiona and give her to Lord Farquaad. He then after changes his decision and goes on a quest to get her back. In Shrek Forever After, Shrek faced a reversal in his life. In the beginning, Shrek is married to Princess Fiona, they later have children. The ogres were treated equally and the most important thing, he has a big happy family. He was tricked into signing a contract with Rumpelstiltskin, persuasive dealmaker. The contract turned his world upside down. Shrek discovers himself living in a total opposite world. In the world that he is living in currently consists of ogres being haunted for being too harmful and scary. The dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin becomes the king of Far Far Away instead of Artie, Fiona’s cousin. Also, the worst of all change was that Shrek and Fiona never met, thus the “big happy family” was never created. Shrek’s world was reversed and overturned; everything was not how it was suppose to be. The root of this chaos was because of Shrek’s carelessness decision he made agreeing to that deal. These reversals evidently help Shrek prevail over his difficulties.

Shrek encounters an epiphany in the first series when he actively separates himself from other people. Shrek yells out to strangers saying things like, “There’s just me and my swamp.” “The first thing I’m gonna do is build a ten-foot wall around my land.” However, to Donkey he utters things like, “People take one look at me and go, “Ah! Help! A big, stupid, ugly ogre!” “That’s why I’m better off alone.” Shrek is showing that he wants to be left alone and not bothered. Shrek later realizes that he really wants company and a companion. In Shrek Forever After, Shrek did not want to gain fame for being a friendly ogre; he wants to be respected and feared. So after their children’s birthday party Shrek bellowed at Fiona, this causes a fight between the two of them, Shrek and Fiona leading him to fall right into the opening arms of Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek’s world overturned because of Reumpelstiltskin’s misbehavior. In the end, the characters were surprised when Fiona become a fierce and courageous warrior this mirrors Shrek’s epiphany; he did not save her, she saved him. The epiphanies that Shrek faces help him realize what he needs to know and do in his quest to rise above his obstacles.
