In August 2007, Walmart comes in joint venture with Bharti Enterprises of India to form Bharti Walmart private Limited for wholesale, Business to Business, cash-and-carry and back-end supply chain management operations with motive to serve small retailers, manufacturers and farmers. Mr Raj Jain is Managing Director & CEO of Bharti Walmart Pvt. Ltd. Their first “Bestprice Modern Wholesale” store opened in May 2009. Distribution centre has set up in Punjab which will partly service the merchandise needs of cash-and-carry stores as well as Easy day stores. Traders, fruits & vegetable resellers, restaurant owners, Kiranas, hoteliers, other retail store owners, caterers, institutions & offices their day-to-day needs are meet under this store.
