It is definitely more than just a game, where the cricketers are regarded as demigods and factually worshipped by the common man. After this new cricket format was introduced, people have gained more interest and thus the popularity graph is only going up, It is the most successful business in the world now days because cricket is the most redound and loving game and it has won the heart of always everybody.

Question 1:

Identification and defining of the project Indian premier League (IPL).

History and Introduction:

The IPL (Indian Premier League) is very exciting. The concept of IPL is initialized when Lalit Modi, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) extended his vision for the Indian Premier League.

Following the same format as that of club football in Europe, particularly the English Premier League, IPL was launched as a competitive response to the Indian Cricket League (ICL) that was launched by the Zee group. The DLF IPL is the history of Indian cricket, getting the recognition by the Indian Cricket Board. He has created huge opportunities for the entertainment industry. Twenty20 cricket has been phenomenal to the surface after India won the Twenty20 World Cup. Since then, the involvement of India with IPL is rewarding and efficient.

Bell, who has a reputation for handling sensitive assignments PR, Holmes, has confirmed the report that talks are underway with Modi. The 46-year-old Modi is based in London since he was ousted as commissioner and chairman of IPL.

Modi, who denies all allegations, designed and built the IPL a successful brand in the world of sports is worth over $ 4,000,000,000 for 2008 launch. Indian media also reported that Modi is the withdrawal of Indian passport and faced detention if they return to the country.

Bell declined to comment on the details of the talks, calling them “commercial confidentiality”. However, the report understands that Holmes will try to controversy and the glare of media accompanied that Modi IPL ended his resign to rise.

When Bell takes office work alongside existing advisers modes, including a lawyer and lobbyist Mahmood Abidi Dilip Cherian. Cherian head of one of the largest PR firms in India, Perfect Relations, and the long-term ties with the family business Modi, GPI has. Cherian said the report Holmes Bell, the “End of London” of the sale deal, while he oversees the India. “How is Modi with his personal business where you feel the need to inform both the medium and the media context, we are able to input and the broader analysis is needed,” said Cherry. “We must also ensure that you hear in London.

as the Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty – owner and co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders team, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals, respectively, made this mega sporting event even more successful. The good news is that the IPL has been able to make fourth place in the Forbes list of the hottest properties in sports. India will host the third session of the IPL tournament, after the success in South Africa in 2009. The fourth season of IPL will be held in 2011.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) launched the Indian Premier League (IPL) to Indian Cricket League (ICL) counter. The IPL will initially start with eight teams and will offer prize money to $ 3,000,000, making it the richest domestic cricket tournament. The team will consist of a minimum of 16 players. The income generated by the IPL will be pooled into developing better infrastructure and services for cricket fans in the area.

Question 2:

Leadership of IPL team building, team leadership and project planning and management?

Project Planning:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is based on the game of Twenty20 cricket, which should be completed in 2 hours. This means that it is fast and exciting, and can also be played in an evening or a weekend afternoon during weekdays. This makes it very attractive as a mass sport like football, basketball and soccer and finally, a spectator sport, in addition to the ratings.

The IPL has taken economists to its leadership structure so that income is high. The more united the sport, the more successful it is.

Because it is a potential mass audience, IPL is very interesting as an opportunity for marketing and communications, especially for advertisers and sponsors.

The season starts with the functions and series of franchises. Each member is responsible for marketing his team to get as large fan-base as possible. The long-term success of a franchise is in generating a solid fan base. The fan base will generate revenues and large TV.

Many fans will pay different amounts to see their sport. There will be corporate hospitality, tickets, road maps, pay-per-view and other ways to segment the market for the IPL.

There is a great opportunity to sell merchandise such as T-shirts, credit cards and other collectables fans. Grounds can also sell drinks and other services during the games.

Marketers believe that youth should be targeted segments, so that their long-term fan base. Their parents and older cricket fans may prefer the longer, more traditional game. The youth may also impress by their parents want them to buy goods from their clubs on their behalf – as a differentiator or a status symbol.

Franchise fees will remain fixed until 2017-18, which means that the investment is safe from inflation, which by tradition is relatively high in India.

The IPL is intended to increase the income of the BCCI about $ 1.6 billion, for a period of five to ten years. All these revenues are directed to a central pool, 40% of this to himself IPL, 54% to affiliates and 6% as prize money. The money will be divided in proportion to 2017 after which IPL’s share will be 50%, 45% franchised and prize money 5%. The IPL Kingfisher Airlines has signed on as official umpire partner for the series in a 106 crore (U.S. $ 23 million) (about £ 15 million) deal.

Leadership and management styles:

Leaders and managers are not the same, though they can act in similar ways. A manager is responsible for setting objectives and using resources efficiently. A leader is responsible for motivating a group of people (or a team) to use their individual skills. So therefore leadership is a vital skill of any successful manager.

Various management styles can be employed dependent on the culture of the business, the nature of the task, the nature of the workforce and the personality and skills of the leaders. Here is a list of the major management styles and how they are used or not used in Ford Bridgend.

Management Styles:

Autocratic:

An Autocratic or authoritarian manager makes all the decisions, keeping the information and decision making among the senior management. Objectives and tasks are set and the workforce is expected to do complete them by the designated time. This method is usually top – down, motivational critics such as Elton Mayo, questioned the fact that this method of management will likely show a decrease in motivation. It will also make lower employee’s of the hierarchy get too dependant on the more qualified and experienced employees.

The main advantage of this style is that the direction of the business will remain constant, and the decisions will all be similar, this in turn can project an image of a confident, well managed business. Ford does not implement this form of management as they believe that decisions should be made by all levels.

Paternalistic:

A Paternalistic manager is more dictatorial; however their decisions tend to be in the best interests of the employees rather than the business. Feedback from this method is again generally downward; however feedback to the management will occur in order for the employees to be kept happy. This style can be highly advantageous and can engender loyalty from the employees, leading to a lower labour turnover, thanks to the emphasis on social needs.

The main disadvantages of Paternalistic Management styles are that employees become highly dependent on the leader, and if the wrong decisions are made, then all employees may become dissatisfied with that particular leader. At the Ford engine plant Bridgend, management encourages consultation and use ‘suggestion boxes’ for ideas. As an incentive to use the ‘suggestion box’ they can win a car or a cash sum of between £20-£2,500.

Democratic:

In a democratic management style, the manager will allow the lower employees to participate in the decision process; therefore everything is agreed by the majority of employees. The communication is extensive in both directions, meaning that lower employees can discuss matters with managers etc… Ford does this through methods of:

Participation:

This is where the employee participates in decision making processes that could change the plant. Some employees might not want to participate, but Ford try to get every employee involved. Ford also tries to get workers to participate in the use of ‘suggestion boxes’ these can be used to show to individual employee’s initiative. Also as an incentive to participate they can be entered into a prize draw at the end of each month the win a car or a cash sum of £20 -25,000

Paternalistic:

Ford emphasise on teamwork, they know that it is needed to create high quality engines. That is why Managers seek to train teams to work as efficiently as possible. Each team is responsible for their productivity quality.

Laizzez-faire:

The Laizzez-faire manger is one who leaves employees to ‘get on’ with their work with little or no interference. A wide range of guidelines may be established, but with the daily role of a manager minimal. By giving employees freedom, it gives them an opportunity to show some responsibility, initiative and creativity. At Ford, they guarantee that their aims are made clear. These are to create engines at the right price, time and to meet demand. Computer aided Manufacture (CAM) is used, to cut job time and to increase the level of quality in engines. Every individual is personally responsible for his/her quality of output.

Reactive:

A reactive manager is one who deals with problems and issues when they happen rather than before (like Pro-Active). This form of manager can be described as ‘surviving the seat of you pants’. The only difficulty is that there may not be enough time or resources to deal with a situation because it is simply too late.

Pro-Active:

A Pro-Active manager is one who looks to the future and plans ahead, rather than waiting for events to happen. They anticipate recent events and see how they can affect the business. If it looks like it could affect the business then they come up with suitable solutions to overcome it just incase it happens. The proactive manager then communicates with the team so that they are trained and prepared to deal with new situations. Ford tend to use this type management style rather than Reactive.

Leadership Styles:

The Autocrat:

The autocrat leader sets objectives and allocates tasks and demands obedience. The advantages of this at Ford are that the group will respond quickly and effectively and direction will always be constant. The disadvantages are that the team may become too dependent on the leader and may even become unable to operate machinery without them. Constant supervision of the team will be required and also the team may become dissatisfied with the leader.

The Democrat:

The democrat leader encourages participation in the decision making process by consulting team members, delegating where possible and explaining decisions. The disadvantages of this leadership style are that they need to enhance the commitment of the employees and the participation will need to be improved.

Failures and legal cases:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) seems to embody all that was good about the “new India”, with its telegenic cocktail of glitz of Bollywood, corporate and high-octane cricket.

However, it wasthe epitome of the worst of the “old India”as Lalit Modi, the IPL circusmanager, was suspended and the European Parliament was adjourned in uproar over acorruption scandal that has engulfed the politician, business leaders and greatest sport in the country.

In one day of extraordinary drama, even by the standards in India, the Board of Controlfor Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Mr  Modi had 15days to a series of corruption allegations answer.

The move effectively ended the reign of threeyears, Mr. Modi for a contest that hastransformed thecommercial face of cricket and established India as the new geographical centre of the sport.

Question 3:

Conclusion and Recommendations:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) leek embody all that is good you had finished the NewIndia, a meeting of telegenic cocktail of Bollywood glitz Companies met a large and octane cricket. However, it was the epitome of the worst of the “Old Indian” as Lalit Modi, president of IPL circus, were closed and the European Parliament is Street paused in arms corruption scandal over one that has engulfed political managers and the Greatest sport on earth.

In the drama of an extraordinary day, even the door of the Normans in India, the Supervisory Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Mr Modi-OM was 15days of a response smack of corruption allegations. Relocation actually ended a reign of the Three Year Mr Modi die before a match has been transformed from the Commercial and VV established India cricket The New Face Geographic centre of the sport.

The level of competition that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) can generate determines the long-term viability of the league. If the level drops to the competition, then sales will decline. For example, if the top names in cricket cannot be attracted to India, the charm of the game will fall. Often in the possession of the bignames is a problem – the Australian national cricket team is run in conjunction with the IPL and when the players move like Australia in India to follow the money than theirinside game will be affected. This is known as “Free Agency”.

If the affiliate fan-base does not generate income then they may not have the money to the salaries of the best players to pay. However, if you invest in the best players and wintrophies, so you can not see a return on investment. It will not be a quick return on investment – so owners should in the long term.

Franchises are very expensive. The most expensive franchise – Mumbai Indians – was bought by Mukesh Ambani for $ 111,900,000, while the lowest price for franchising -Rajasthan Royals was taken by Manoj Badal for only $ 67 million.

Teams cannot be highly priced than the opportunities for early successes. Revenue will come from the most supported team
