Abortion
An abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. After your pregnancy has been proven positive it is your choice weather or not you want to end your pregnancy. Abortions can be done in any ways in the early stages. Abortions are only performed in the early part of the pregnancy [unless there is a different circumstance] the abortions are done medically or surgically. However most abortion clinics do not have the right people recourses to do abortions medically.
There are procedures that are taken according to how you may get the abortion, it depends on what trimester you are in. In the first two trimesters the procedure for a medical abortion is: on day one pills are taken by the mouth. On day two or possibly day three a higher dosage of the pills are taken, during the second session of the medical abortion you have to have a four hour observation. By the seventh to tenth day you find out if the abortion worked, if it didn’t work you can repeat the procedure or you have other options such as the surgical.(Healthcare Professionals) “About fifty percent will abort in the first three days, about eighty percent of patients by the next day, and only about five percent of patients will need a surgical abortion.” (Healthcare Professionals)
Surgical abortions that are performed in the first trimester has a procedure that needs to be fallowed, they use a small tube that is connected to a suction machine [kind of like a vacuum hose] tools are used to grab hold of the cervix. The vacuum like tube is inserted through the cervix into the uterus. The removal of the fetus takes place by applying suction tube to the syringe. After the procedure has taken place the doctor will cheek to make sure all the tissues has been removed. This is the most common procedure that people use to get an abortion, because it is a guaranty that the abortion will be successful. (Healthcare Professionals)
For a surgical abortion during the second trimester there is a different procedure then what takes place during the first trimester. “Dilatation and evacuation is the safest and most common method of second–trimester termination used by experienced health care professionals. Dilation takes place over hours and possibly days with the sticks to enlarge the cervix.” (Healthcare Professionals) There is a other procedure that can be used for the second trimester abortion witch is Induction of labor [or induced labor at an early stage] doctors have discovered that the drugs that are used to induce women when they are in labor can also be used to abort a baby during the second trimester of a pregnancy.
There are many different views on abortion. The topic of abortion is strongly debated issue that is in this world today. One of the most talk about issues in abortion is, Should Abortion Be Banned [Except in Special Circumstances Like Saving the Mother's Life or being a victim of rape?] There are other arguments about abortion like abortion being considered murder or abortion is being used as a form of birth control. The best birth control is absence, absence is key, absence is how not to not. Abortion is just finding the easy way out of something you did and created.
“Most abortions are done on women under the age of twenty five. Most of the women who want an abortion are unmarried or separated form their spouse. many women feel that they are to poor and feel they cannot afford to raise a child. Ninety percent of abortions are for personal reasons, twenty one percent of women fell that they do not have the financial resources to bring up a child. Twenty one percent of women feel that they are not ready for the responsibility of raising a child. Sixteen percent of women fell that their life would be changed too much. Twelve percent of women fell that her relationship with her partner is in difficulty. Eleven percent of women feel that they are too young, and no mature enough to become a mother. In eight percent of the cases, the woman who is seeking the abortion, her children are grown and she doesn’t want to start another family, or she has all the children she wants.” (Robinson, B.A)
There are other reasons that people get abortions too like their parents are forcing the idea of an abortion on them. The woman who is seeking an abortion feels that she doesn’t feel that she meets the physical and the emotional needs that the child needs to have. She feels that having a other child would make her other children feel neglected. She doesn’t have a person that is there that would help raise the child and she feels that raising a child would be to hard and it would make her life be on hold. She doesn’t want people to know that she was pregnant. She believes that a child would come in between with her education or he job. She is scared that her parents might abuse her after they find out that she was pregnant. She is afraid that her parents would kick her out of their home. (Robinson, B.A)
About six percent of abortions are done because either the woman or the unborn baby has a medical reason such as, the fetus might have been exposed to toxic chemicals of high amounts. Some girls become pregnant at a young age and the pregnancy can be dangerous to her. The fetus has a genetic defect or other health problems. The woman may develop eclampsia [eclampsia is a blood pressure problem, mixed with seizures.] And in a multiple pregnancy such as quintuplets, sextuplets or more because some or possibly all of the fetuses will end up with various long term health problems, so the physician might suggest or at least let the women know that it would be a good idea or possible to use a reduction process where one or more fetuses are killed in order that the remaining fetuses would be normal. A lot of people say that having an abortion in the case of rape or incest is okay but there are statistics that state there is “only one percent of women actually do get raped or incest, and in that process get pregnant,” the chances are even lower to get raped again and get pregnant again. When someone commits a rape he has a one percent chance on average to be convicted of the crime. The person is likely to rape again but will most likely not get anyone pregnant. Being raped is sad to be of false allegations, and the victims who were disoriented from alcohol or other substances are accused for “getting themselves raped.” And there is only five percent of the rapist who even get charged. Some other facts about abortion are, the majority of women who have had an abortion often suffer from serious psychological damage. Now that there is great technology and genetic testing it will help alert the women and she will chose to abort the baby to bypass having an imperfect child as some people say. The decision to abort a baby is often made by younger people who don’t feel they have maturity and life experience to make good decisions. (Messerli, Joe)
People don’t often realize other options that they have besides abortion. People don’t apprehend that there are many people who want and have waited years to adopt a baby/child. There are people who in order to have a family they have to adopt because they are unable to have a baby. Adoption is the only option for couple that are unable to reproduce and who want children. It gives the couple the opportunity to become parents. A lot of people want to adopt and it could even be said to be a answer to peoples prayers to have the opportunity to adopt a child. And sometimes the only option for people to start a family is by adopting children. Then there are couples who are able of producing their own offspring but they would prefer to adopt, the reason couples do that are it will help plan there lives. Though it sounds selfish the reasoning for planning is, many people don't have many children and/or both parents work. Adoption doesn't just give the couple happiness it also gives a child happiness and unconditional love. Having a abortion would be taking away a child’s chance at being love and love.
