The Obama legislation was not at all against stem cell research, as long as it was done properly to help further ways to treat diseases, and create therapies for problems and diseases. The Democratic Party is on the side of stem cell research. The Democratic Party would like to see more investments in stem cell research. They believe in continuing stem cell research and they feel that funding is holding back and preventing cures and therapies for diseases. Democrats see that human embryonic stem cell research as a way to provide new resources to scientist and doctors. Even though embryos are destroyed while taking stems cells from it they believe that what can be done with stem cells is worth the circumstances. In 2011 polling by Gallup indicated that approximately 62% of Americans supported medical research using embryonic stem cells, and 31% did not support stem cells finding it solely morally unacceptable based on their opinions. Democrats were far more supportive of stem cell research, both adult and embryonic, 76% of democrats favored federal funding while 37% didn’t versus, and 57% of republicans were opposed to it while 37% of republicans did support it. Republicans oppose stem cell research on aborted and miscarried fetuses, not saying that they do not support medical research Republicans have and will continue to support. They also strongly encourage adult stem cells and cord blood stem cell research that has already provided help to hundreds of patients and provides a bright future for treatments to help millions of people in America. One of the main reasons Republicans oppose stem cell research is that they believe it goes against their concerns for fetal welfare. Fetal welfare is about preserving unborn like from destruction. Many republicans such as Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, worry that fetal tissue research will open a door to dehumanizing institutions that would lead to “factories where you’d grow babies for their body parts.”(2015). Forright now it is only acceptableto research on cells of miscarried or aborted fetuses. The current president Donald Trump is not outspoken on his views on stem cell research. However, some officials he has appointed into office have some very strong views on the subject. For instance, Trump appointed Tom Price as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Mr. Price co-sponsored “Personhood” bills that would define “human beings”, “from the moment of fertilization” in both 2005 and 2007.
Now, onto my view on stem cell research, I firmly approve on stem cell research. Other the recent new abortion laws would make it more difficult to get embryos for research. There is a bountiful amount of opportunities to get embryos and fetuses. If people getting abortions would sign a waiver to allow the specimen (if usable for research) to be used for research or treatment purposes they can get the specimens from them. The abortie might see a problem with it; it is up to them to sign it. To encourage people to signing the waver they could give them a discount on a abortion maybe slight or for facilities that don’t get it from other people and just want the embryos for free could offer abortions for practically nothing other than cost to operate. There are leaps and bounds that stem cell research could, is, and has already brought. Like Lab-Grown Meat which the hope of the project is due to over population one day we could use this to feed the population when there won not be enough livestock. It is already possible just lacks a sort of flavor and extremely expensive still. We can use it to reconstruct teeth that are damaged, the great thing about this the tooth isn’t bolted in, caped, a fake tooth it is all you once the cells have reconstructed the tooth. There is even a possibility that they can find treatment or a cure to fix arthritis or lack of cartilage in joints. There is even a possibility to fix brain damage and go as far as to create new organs for people instead of waiting for donors. It would be great if the two parties and the people can come together to agree on letting stem cell research go further, and possibly even increase funding on the program.
