“Electronic commerce (e-commerce) is often thought simply to refer to buying and selling using the Internet; people immediately think of consumer retail purchases from companies such as Amazon. But e-commerce involves much more than electronically mediated financial transactions between organizations and customers. Many commentators refer to e-commerce as all electronically mediated transactions between an organization and any third party it deals with. By this definition, non-financial transactions such as customer requests for further information would also be considered to be part of e-commerce.”

E-business definition .

E-business is a term used to describe businesses run on the Internet, or utilizing Internet technologies to improve the productivity or profitability of a business. In a more general sense, the term may be used to describe any form of electronic business — that is to say, any business which utilizes a computer. This usage is somewhat archaic, however, and in most contexts ebusiness refers exclusively to Internet businesses.

2)Define Mobile commerce &&L-commerce?

Mobile commerce, or m-commerce,

is the buying and selling of goods and services through the use of hand-held devices such as mobile phones or PDAs. This form of buying is known as next generation e-commerce and it’s conducted by allowing users to access the Internet without a computer connection

L-commerce

is the practice of using technologies which provide location information, such as GPS, for business purposes.[1] An example of l-commerce would be to allow cellphone users to find the nearest restaurant to their current location. The term is related to business based on internet technology (e-commerce), based on mobile technology (m-commerce), or based on voice recognition technology (v-commerce).[2] Although this concept reflects the current trend towards individualized and flexible consumerism, privacy concerns have been raised about using a consumer’s location in marketing and sales.[3]

Mobile Computing is when a work process is carried out somewhere where it was not previously possible

The history of mobile phones

begins with early efforts to develop mobile telephony concepts using two-way radios and continues through emergence of modern mobile phones and associated services.

Radiophones have a long and varied history going back to Reginald Fessenden’s invention and shore-to-ship demonstration of radio telephony, through the Second World War with military use of radio telephony links and civil services in the 1950s, while hand-held mobile radio devices have been available since 1973. Mobile phone history is often divided into generations (first, second, third and so on) to mark significant step changes in capabilities as the technology improved over the years.

A mobile phone (also called mobile, cellular telephone, or cell phone) is an electronic device used to make calls across a wide geographic area. Mobile phones differ from cordless telephones, which only offer telephone service within a limited range of a fixed land line, for example within a home or an office.

4)Define E-mail Advantages and benefit of E-mail?

Electronic mail

commonly called email or e-mail, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks. Some early email systems required that the author and the recipient both be online at the same time, a la instant messaging. Today’s email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email servers accept, forward, deliver and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need connect only briefly, typically to an email server, for as long as it takes to send or receive messages.

5)what is SIM card? What are the services provided by the Etisalate on it ?

what is SIM card

A SIM card contains its unique serial number, internationally unique number of the mobile user (IMSI), security authentication and ciphering information, temporary information related to the local network, a list of the services the user has access to and two passwords (PIN for usual use and PUK for unlocking).

SIM cards are available in three standard sizes. The first is the size of a credit card (85.60 mm Ã- 53.98 mm x 0.76 mm). The newer, most popular miniature version has the same thickness, but has a length of 25 mm and a width of 15 mm, and has one of its corners truncated (chamfered) to prevent misinsertion. The newest incarnation known as the 3FF or micro-SIM has dimensions of 15 mm Ã- 12 mm. Most cards of the two smaller sizes are supplied as a full-sized card with the smaller card held in place by a few plastic links; it can easily be broken off to be used in a device that uses the smaller SIM.

6)Give a summary on the revenue generation plan of yahoo and Google?

Yahoo and Google are now temporary bedfellows. Yahoo used to get search results from Google until 2004-2005. Yahoo has been off the Google search IV for awhile.

Flip forward to 2008. Yahoo is getting crushed by Google on search. They’re pretty much the AOL 2.0 of Web 2.0 on search (they still rock on a bunch of content properties). Search is a hard problem, Google has won for now on web search. Google’s leadership in search has led it to collect an incredible lead on the search monetization front as well. Ad words is a far more powerful system than Yahoo’s competition. The analytic tools, keyword limits, and bidding, all points are to Google.

The Yahoo/Google deal solves the Yahoo problem of being sold for far too little. By proving Yahoo is worth 20-50% more than the Microsoft bid, they might end up preserving their independence; if that is their goal. Regardless this test will force Microsoft to pony up more money because Google’s ads will show how much Yahoo could potentially be worth.

7)locate recent information on amazon.com and its battle with barnes& noble can receive ?

Many locations contain Starbucks cafes, as well as music departments with more than 30,000 titles. In cyberspace, the firm conducts business through Barnesandnoble.com (BN.com), which generates about 10% of its revenue. In 2009 Barnes & Noble introduced the Nook e-book reader. The company considered selling itself in summer 2010.

There are mainly five types of e-commerce models:

1. Business to Consumer (B2C) – As the name suggests, it is the model involving businesses and consumers. This is the most common e-commerce segment. In this model, online businesses sell to individual consumers. When B2C started, it had a small share in the market but after 1995 its growth was exponential. The basic concept behind this type is that the online retailers and marketers can sell their products to the online consumer by using crystal clear data which is made available via various online marketing tools. E.g. An online pharmacy giving free medical consultation and selling medicines to patients is following B2C model.

2. Business to Business (B2B) – It is the largest form of e-commerce involving business of trillions of dollars. In this form, the buyers and sellers are both business entities and do not involve an individual consumer. It is like the manufacturer supplying goods to the retailer or wholesaler. E.g. Dell sells computers and other related accessories online but it is does not manufacture all those products. So, in order to sell those products, it first purchases them from different businesses i.e. the manufacturers of those products.

3. Consumer to Consumer (C2C) – It facilitates the online transaction of goods or services between two people. Though there is no visible intermediary involved but the parties cannot carry out the transactions without the platform which is provided by the online market maker such as eBay.

4. Peer to Peer (P2P) – Though it is an e-commerce model but it is more than that. It is a technology in itself which helps people to directly share computer files and computer resources without having to go through a central web server. To use this, both sides need to install the required software so that they can communicate on the common platform. This type of e-commerce has quite low revenue generation as from the beginning it has been inclined to the free usage due to which it sometimes got entangled in cyber laws.

5. m-Commerce – It refers to the use of mobile devices for conducting the transactions. The mobile device holders can contact each other and can conduct the business. Even the web design and development companies optimize the websites to be viewed correctly on mobile devices.

There are other types of e-commerce business models too like Business to Employee (B2E), Government to Business (G2B) and Government to Citizen (G2C) but in essence they are similar to the above mentioned types. Moreover, it is not necessary that these models are dedicatedly followed in all the online business types. It may be the case that a business is using all the models or only one of them or some of them as per its needs.

The business model

is simply a working description that includes the general details about the operations of a business. The components that are contained within a business model will address all functions of a business, including such factors as the expenses, revenues, operating strategies, corporate structure, and sales and marketing procedures. Generally speaking, anything that has to do with the day to day functionality of the corporation can be said to be part of the business model.
