The argument I am going to present is the study of the Antiquities, History and if it’s a practical degree of vocation to study.  I want weigh in the advantages and disadvantages of this field as to the impracticality as far as a realistic salary possibility.  I want to explore the difficulties that are beset beleaguered in the discipline of the study of History, which this filed I think is suffering from shrinking ranks and limited job opportunities.  I am now retired and have always loved history, studying this field because I now have time and can afford to do so, but I know with my own experience it was very impractical to study as far as being able to secure a decent salary, with the tough job competitive markets.  I feel that I would not have been able to support my family over the past decades, with the job markets up and down, on a meager salary if I had pursued history as my job endeavor. My purpose and perspective will be to find if these are mere anecdotal impressions or accurate perceptions of changing realities in the discipline?

I fully understand as a history major, I am currently pursing, it will give me the knowledge of history that can help me comprehend society at large, as it is today and predict changes occur. A degree in history will allow me to understand about the study of social problems as well as lives of people in the past, and societal trends.

I agree with the prospect of the study of history as an academic is vital for individuals to realize how it would be almost impossible for us to live out our lives effectively if we had no knowledge of the past. Also, in order to gain a sound knowledge of the past,  I feel there has to be a study to understand the political, social and cultural aspects of the times we are studying.

I hope to promote awareness of how the study of history is so critical to convince my own self as well.  My goals, for pursuing History is aims at helping people to understand the present existing social, political, religious and economic conditions of the people. But on the other side of the argument as well as having a snapshot as if majoring in history does not doom a graduate to a life of unemployment or underemployment, will this be a life of constant struggle to get ahead financially.

The three key points with the first one being, I want to explore is a well thought out exploration of the reasons why history is so important and worthy of study by all people.

When we look at studying history under a microscope, it shows that people aren’t much different today than they were hundreds of years ago.  It is amazing the similarities of everyday life, everyone just trying to make it to the next station in life.  The second key point, I plan to uncover where I continue to encounter widespread disparaging myths about the lives of people who graduate with history BA are largely based on misinformation about the prospective lives of those who major in history.  This preconception, paint life with a degree in history as a wasteland of unemployment and underemployment.  I want to investigate the validity of these claims. The third key point, to study history, is it a helps people learn to abandon incorrect assumptions of history and learn the proper stances of world events and how they actually transpired.

The audience I will be focusing on is the group of people focused of both arguments, the ones for elucidations to study history academically and for those who think to study history is not significant.   I plan to persuade, both parties, in this as why relevant to them, with the hope to promote more students on why it is imperative to study history more in-depth with the ideas of What story does our pedagogy tell about the significance of history and why students should care?

The question of whether to study of to prioritize history over science subjects is an old adage. These are valid arguments, in many opinions that does not agree with this thought process, after reading conflicting viewpoints on why we should NOT study history, is more focus should be placed  the study of  the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. The application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry, to students as compared to traditional subjects like history.

The proponents of studying history argue that scholars of history, should be more familiarized with their ancestors of the past, the ordeals they went through to teach important lessons of the past.

The main challenges will be for some people who think a history major as an academic have the belief that it is a sheer waste of time to take a snapshot of past when future invites modern society at large to meet its fatiguing disputes of challenges and a waste of time.

An additional challenge in my argument as far as not to study history as a major will be students feel there is no money to be made in the history as a college major.  (Julia Brookins, 2016.)  with the idea that students and their parents seem to be thinking a lot more that they need to major in something practical on employment endeavors. Students and parents with the thought analogy of history, humanities, English, and philosophy, seem to think they are not those practical majors. As well as there is no real money to be made in the study of history as job endeavor.  As well as the thought process of people with due respect of their analogies of why Not to study history by (Heinz, Rudolph, 2015, p. 140-150) the analogy of History is relatively more politicized that some other fields.    After reading Brookins and Heinz works, I gathered the impressions, that some people with the analogy of the thinking process as why they should not consider the study of history, with the conception, that realistically, the science and the technology’s field, should be major focus, due to long term salary and employment endeavors over a lifetime. As well as help the benefits in society at large.  Most employers, realistically, when interviewing applicants for jobs, look at skills the applicants have such as mathematics, marketing and the technologies, rather than what he or she is well versed in the subject of history, because most employers are more interested in promoting their sole objectives as growth and competition.

My goals will be to  the kernel of truth to the challenge one’s own assumptions of if the so-called myth with these thoughts will be where my arguments transpire, with the myth is that history degrees do not offer a life of gainful employment or the job security that other careers might.   With a look at the opposing view, A history degree provides a broad skillset that has ensured that history majors are employed in almost every walk of life, with some notable trends. This is the exact impractically mindset I had when my kids were going off to college. I remember thinking just this, will a history major have a higher unemployment than other fields.

In Conclusion , The aspects of my argument that  could very well lean and pivot to be effectively supported with evidence and my general synopsis clearly defends choices as to why we should study history are in agreement with (John Fea, 2013.)that, in which things are very different from our contemporary experiences so we need to be especially careful that we do not distort the past to fit modern preconceptions.

History increases cultural literacy and sensitivity.  It also proposes an exceptional and inclusive education of content, teaching how to collect, evaluate, and arrange a variety of sources into convincing protracted arguments and narratives.

By the decipherment, of the past studying history, it will allow us to better understand ourselves and society at large.   History helps to shape how people see themselves in the present and what they hope for the future.  As well as the ability to look at past events from an economic, political, psychological, or sociological perspective.

I plan to argue the stance on why history is Not realistic with important in everyday society at large, stating how it also allows for logic as well as critical thinking skills as well as a bridge to other disciplines.

I don’t disagree with the prospect for the study of history as being the trainer of life.  The study of past events, prepares us to live more in a way that shows compassion or benevolence in the present and to meet the challenges of the time spans of life, because it provides us with perception of the human existence. As well as to recognize the full worth of the past, one must have it entrenched in one’s memory, so that not only what happened, but why it happened can be understood.
