Imagine seeing a country without its pasts is like seeing a person having no identity. History does not only serve in informing us about the past but it also helps us to comprehend the present and foreseeing future events. The fundamentals, on which history is constructed, are developed by historians who create the historical records based on facts and figures. Primary and secondary sources which are derived are applied to differentiate between historical evidence.

In order to allege that we are acquainted with something, we basically have to classify of how we know it. There are four major established ways of acquiring knowledge i.e. through our five senses and observation, through logic and interpretation, through authority and finally through revelation and intuition. The needs for the uses of language however, are able to help us in acquiring, producing and communicating on knowledge - based facts.

The roles of language in history have various importances' which plays a major role in our daily lives. This is because history is not only recorded, but presented to people through many kinds of different language. The reason is also an important aspect in history; which with some definite interpretations, historians create a historical documentation of certain occasion in a certain way. There could be dire reasoning and problems of favoritism in history. In this essay, the roles of language and reason in history will be explained further.

Based on Wikipedia, language can be defined as a system of signs, indices, icons and symbols for encoding and decoding information. Since languages became an object of study by the ancient grammarians, the term has experienced a lot of different definitions. The English word derives from Latin lingua with means language or tongue. The ability to use speech was originated in remote prehistoric times, as did the language families were in use at the beginning of writing.

Besides that, on the past famous histories, the world knew that language was used as a medium to communicate, not only among ourselves but also with animals. Not to mention making agreements between people of different races, countries and religions. Our ancestors used to communicate with a system called the "call system". It was maintained until the human language developed to what it is nowadays; a means that allows us to discuss about the past and the future, to express emotions, feelings, exchanging ideas and experiences. Even though there are a lot of languages used, it will eventually come down to one basic communication which everybody agrees to i.e. English.

Moreover, the roles of languages in history plays to help the association between words by expressing them, and the things for which they may stand for. We give names to everything we see, feel, touch, smell and hear. In other words, it is through our five senses. Symbols are also incorporated in human language, for example in Mathematics. Different kinds of symbols are used but it is generally understood around the globe. The purpose of why language exists was for mankind to understand each other and to create a better world. I know that these kinds of things, may not be found elsewhere, whether in history books or journals, but when we actually use a language that is comprehended by everyone; a lot of things can been solved without any mayhem.

Apart from that, language is also considered as a scientific pattern. Those patterns can be found anywhere if we care to look for them, physically, mentally or even spiritually. In history, the events which are unfortunate or the other way around tells us about what really happened back then. The past that shaped the present are transmitted through language. These languages explained those events so that lessons are learnt from it. Not only that, but also that we would not repeat the same mistakes made.

A leader once said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". From this saying, it clearly implies that those who used to be a part of an event and do not take any actions or lessons from it, they will eventually repeat the same mistakes all over again. The roles of language are performed when people are expressing their feelings or opinion on something. The great leaders of the world communicate among themselves through language. Languages are the gear that unites them together. An old saying once said "A great leader would only be able to get to someone's head using the language that they understand. But to get to someone's heart, a great leader has to speak using their own language".

However, most people in this world are multilingual or known as polyglot, and anyone could be one. Through an ample of time and effort given to learn new things, it does not necessarily means that people are rigorously excluded from other's language community. Different languages served to protect and nourish the growth of different cultures and perceptions, where diverse pathways of human knowledge can be uncovered. It certainly makes life more affluent for those who know more than one of them. Having the knowledge about history through other language, helps us to accomplish a much deeper meaning in something that is hard to convey in our own native language. In contrast, history is not only taken seriously into account but something is actually made into realization by learning from it, so that the future generations will have a better life than the previous ones.

Moreover, language helps us in managing all of our thought processes. Hence, our entire continuation or essence or soul, however we express it, is closely bound up to and with the languages we use. Trying to think how we are able to comprehend our own history without language for instance is the worst case scenario. However, we can only see that the language is in essence superficially, since many languages exist. To understand the true nature of our thought processes or the human soul, knowledge of several languages may be essential. Not only for our learning, but also for the future generations to be aware of the littlest things in history that people do not really take into account.

Sometimes, we wished we were someone else, in terms of being born and living in various different countries so that the beauty of our own history is more appreciated. By learning a foreign language, it helps us to understand our own language, culture and customs better through association, or through the affiliation between the foreign language and our mother tongue. Not only that history will be understandable but it also provides easier learning process in schools and university. Not to mention, in our daily lives. As a famous historian once quoted:

"Wer fremde Sprachen nicht kennt, weiß nichts von seiner eigenen"

(Those who know no foreign language knows nothing of their mother tongue)

(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)

From the saying above, when valuating about the rest of the human kind to its upmost level, language has became a portion of civilization, and by learning what others speaks edify us more about what is human kind as a whole. The more languages we are acquainted with, the better we understand our race, history and that is helpful no matter what the situation is. The history written by the historians tells us about the human kinds. Different countries may have different versions of our own history. No wonder it is not a shock that languages are used to make things comprehendible for everyone.

History has helped us come a long way especially in making a country proud. The country would be nothing if language does not exists. Languages helped these countries to evolve and develop, shifting them from their past histories and learning priceless values that we rarely get in our everyday lives. These languages influenced culture, so learning languages helped us to understand other people's perception and how they think, and it also helps us getting a general understanding on how the world works and about people and cultures that inhabit it.

The reasons for having language in history are not only that we are able to learn different languages, but also mugging up the message that is tried to being delivered to us. It's all the different ways people express themselves, and it shows other people are just the same as we are. It's also an approach of learning about how people interact and socialize with each other, and how each society functions. Languages to me, is much more than creating to communicate with others in history, but also for my deeper understanding of the meanings in history. For me, it's like getting some nice new surprise and a whole new level of understanding.

Apart from that, the reason of the existence of language in history functions to express things that is complicated to say in our native language particularly when it comes to the topic on history, as it is quite a work. But learning a foreign language can endow us with ways to confer about things that might be intricate to express in our own language. It's also another simple way of getting in touch with others than ourselves.

In history, it is better for us to comprehend it through our own language. In order to learn it in another language; learning different functions of sentences are a must. These things will automatically transform us into a more articulate person and be a much better individual.

As a conclusion, language, in the absence of translation, encompass a barrier to a global community of arguments and beliefs, although it is also true that, if the language is translated, the translator has room to shift a bias by choosing weighed words for translation. Furthermore, the roles and reasons for language are a wonder to human kind existence until today.
