Throughout the United States, diplomas are being held or delivered to students based on success or failure upon the standardized tests. Students complete years of receiving high grades and achievements to failing one test and being rejected the ticket of success -a diploma. Requiring a student to pass a standardized test to receive a high school diploma will not determine if our schools educational and academics standards will improve. The approval of graduating should not be based upon selective tests. Students should be able to receive a diploma if he or she has the ability to pass the classes enrolled in throughout high school. By teachers teaching the test items and pressuring the students daily, test scores will constantly decrease. Although the standardized tests are a great way to measure the yearly progress in the students, many students are being pressure and forced to neglect materials, others are facing chances of dropping out of school. Numerous teachers are focusing on high scores, and students are trying to digest the materials the best way possible while facing many different testing skills and/or other discriminations.

Focusing on high scoring results, many teachers around the world are failing to teach the basics of a subject. Only seeing dollar signs in students, teachers around the world are getting paid for the students' high scores. Some teachers urge money, while other teachers are trying not to be portrayed as a bad teacher. Several teachers omit non-tested material and teach the test. "Independent researchers have found that evaluating and paying teachers for test scores is either damaging or irrelevant to improved learning" ("Paying Teachers"). By getting money for achievements, the reasons teachers rather teach the test and neglect the importance of other material furthers. "Payments for "performance" will exacerbate damage to the curriculum by NCLB" ("Paying Teachers"). When money is gained for scores the educational problems rise. While numerous teachers are being paid for high scores, others are sitting under a large amount of pressure.

Checking to see if students are achieving the basic standards is a good reason why standardized tests should be taking. Although the standardized tests are a great way to measure the yearly progress in the students, many students are being pressure and forced to neglect materials, others are facing chances of dropping out of school.

The amount of pressure put upon the students and teachers varies depending on how well materials are taught and processed. Being punished for making a bad score has become many students greatest fear. While the kids fear punishment of low scores, the teachers fear a job loss. Being put down or looked down upon also fear many teachers. When a teacher is under a lot of stress and pressure to teach the test, the joy of teaching vanishes. When a person is under fear and pressure, low performance and stress is the outcome. The pressure also results in health issues and negativity towards learning in the future. The problem the principals and other faculty members fail to realize is by pressuring the students daily will only decrease the chances of achieving high scores. Pressuring the students may be one con of the standardized test, but another seems to be discrimination.

Discrimination has various backgrounds setting people apart from each other. During the standardized tests, students are tested based on many things. Student's scores reflect on how well or poor his or her test-takings skills may be developed. Around the world, students and their test-taking skills differ. The test administrators do not look into the background of each student and observe how well he or she takes a test. The administrators also do not see an honor students could be a terrible test taker and because of that flaw he or she can be denied his or her diploma. While the test-takers produce many different strategies of taking a test, students lacking a strategy, and students not too familiar with the English language or has different types of learning techniques than other students because of their cultural beliefs will be discriminated upon.

Many students with different native languages and different cultural beliefs are discriminated upon. According to Scott Bauer, "students' performance may be caused by any number of factors, including what's taught in schools, a student's native language, and out- of- school leaning opportunities that are heavily influenced by a students' home environment". If the test has one main focus, the other test-takers that are not familiar with the mentioned material will be dumbfounded. Students who have trouble reading a language he or she is not accustomed to will also be uncertain will the mentioned material. If a certain thing is banded from a student's household he or she has no other choice but not to be familiarized with the information. While many tests are being produced, the administrators have to understand that every student is not from the same place or has the same beliefs. The students are being punished for advantages or disadvantages because of their living ethnics.

An important factor upon the standardized is money. The rich kids advantages are buying people and thing that will help lead to a high scoring victory. Meanwhile the poorer students are struggling by trying to study by any means necessary. Throughout numerous of Web sites, researchers explain how low-income students are always in the lowest percentile for passing the test. Low-income and minority students fall the furthered behind and cost the most money. On the most recent standardized tests, eighty-two percent of white students at Western passed, but only fifty-four percent of low-income did ("Year 1"). Being set apart from other the students that are very wealthy, the low-income student always fall short. The social status of the student may also benefit his or scores. Although social statuses and the income of the student are the same, many things also set them apart from each other. Students in low social statuses may also fall in the same category as the low-income students. The tests are punishing students for the things he or she can't afford or because of his or her status.

When a simple test determines if a student's diploma is received or denied, many students rather drop out of school to save all the trouble. Imagine if a student puts all he or she can into a test to fail at the end of the operation. Many students grew accustomed to being passed along whether achieving the scores or not. Being left behind appeared to be some students only option after the normal routine was snatched away. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2002 changed the things students were used to happening. Instead of just being passed along, the students are forced to stay up with the students in his or her class. When everything is evaluated, more students are being left behind than passed along because some students learning skills are slower than those of his or her class. After testing numerous times, the student feels there is no use in constantly trying if failure seems to be the only option. As the tests get harder, more students become less determined. With the number of less determined students increasing, lesser diplomas will be rewarded and more pressure will be in the air. As the pressure starts to build up, students and teachers will be affected.

Facing many learning difficulties, students all over the world dread the standardized test. No test should be used to predict a student's future. Being under a one-test-fits-all impression, the unrealistic test scores are the target. Student's differences make no test able to fit each student requirement. Being there are many different students around the world, there should be many different tests. The test should be terminated if all modifications do not fit every student. Standardized tests do not improve the academic achievements or educational standards and should not be required in order to receive a high school diploma.
