Communications Networks Such As 3G Cellular And WLANs.


This project is about the study of The Simulation of Wireless communications networks such as 3G cellular and WLAN. Here 3G abbreviated as 3rd Generation technology for mobile communication. 3G is the fastest growing technology, if we combine the 3G and Wireless LAN we can do wonders. We already knows that the Local Area Network as LAN, where WLAN is the Wireless LAN.

Here we are combining the both technologies. As for the Wireless LAN which is accepts the good data transfer rate which will be up to nearly 100 mbps, but the only drawback is the network covers only the limited range like maximum of 100meters only. As per the 3G networks with the unlimited mobility any where and it can make easy data access which will covers the maximum network range, but the drawback is it does not accept the good data transfer rate. Where, this 3G allows up to only 5 mbps. In this case if we combine these both WLAN and 3G technologies we can fix the problem.

Main Aim And Objectives Of This project:

The main aim of this project is the study of the various available methods to increase fast mobile wireless communication. Here we are combining the 3G and Wireless LAN Technologies for sending transmission with securely and we can get the high mobility and high data transfer rate. After combining these 3G and Wireless LAN technologies we can get the both features which are high downloading speed and mobility. A Wireless LAN is a network computer used for the data communication and to share files. For wireless network in may ways WiMAX can be used as a more common WiFi protocol. Here we are using the two methodologies which are Tightly coupling and Loosely coupling. The main objective of this project is to combine two methods and analyze which is better in them, the outcome of this project will be to boost the speed and network of the wire less communicaton.

Exposed Methodologies:

If we can joint the high mobility which is provided by the 3G networks and great data transfer rate provided by the Wireless LAN, it will sort the our problems for these two single technologies. By this we can create a new technical and wonderful wireless technological world.

Here we are using the two major methodologies, they are:

1. Tight coupling.

2. Loose coupling.

These two methods were can be done into consideration and simulation on OPNET.

Expected Artifact:

After combining the 3G and Wireless LAN Technologies for sending transmission with secure and we can get the high mobility and greater data transfer rate.

General Background To The Subject And Specific Issues:

In past days, the mobile phone was only used for the making the calls and sending the short messaging service or text messaging service. Here the SMS which will send the data instead of the call, where by this multimedia service we can send the Multimedia Messaging Service which we can send Images, audio, video and also animation. And now days, we are using the internet in one hand which is inbuilt in the mobile phones, by this internet only we can send and receive the e-mails, photos, music, video, and information. Technologies For Implementation:

At present the fast developing technology is 3g for the mobile communication, where it was referred as the 3G. The main reason for developing the only 3G network is telephony generation 3G, voice and data transmission will be monitoring from the last 2 generations to give the data rates, in addition to this it was also giving the some services like gaming, navigation which gives the location based service, electronic commerce with secure, download streaming, audio on request, also we can download the songs, it will connect the all over world with internet. In past days, the mobile communication was used AMPTS, TAC and ETACS. Most used second generation mobile communications were based on the GSM. The major differences from the 1st generation is with the analog and 2nd generation was digital. Apart with the GSM, CDMA were with the next generation mobile communication including TDMA technologies. These two technologies are based on optimization; these two are covered under the tag. These are the GPRS and edge.

Analysis Of Existing Work:

In this analysis that we are using the two methodologies which are Tightly coupling and Loosely coupling. We are connecting this in OPNET simulation. If we consider Loosely coupled, here is a server which is connecting the 3G network and the Wireless LAN. Here the server is connected to the internet, which these two are connected to the subnet. Here the two applications that are been connected by the email and data storage. This is the profile for 3GUSER and Wireless LAN USER has mentioned too.

Technical Requirements:

Software requirements:

To get Internetworking firstly I need Network Simulation Software which is for wireless sensor networks, OPNET and also I will use my University labs.

Here I am using the Tight coupling and Loose coupling two methodologies, for these two methods I will take the simulation software which was OPNET. This OPNET IT Guru Academic Edition which I am using for the simulation edition. While simulating this OPNET tool will gives the time delay, loading, client email traffic, data transfer rate, and etc. by this I can get the result in graph also.

Design And Testing:

In the figure it describes that the architecture on the Microsoft Visio. In this figure we are combining the 3G network and the other technologies like Wireless LAN and WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access). This WiMAX is a telecommunications technology of the wireless data transmission; it will help to give the internet access from the many points. This technology will provides te high transfer rate like 10mbps speed. Normally this technology is based on IEEE 802.16 is a standard which is for the broadband wireless access.

In this figure is clearly that 3G Wireless LAN and WiMAX are connected points. If we take in office and we are switching these two and we are with the control access. Here is the 3G LAN and WiMAX is the services, these are working independently.

These Wireless LAN and 3G networks are for the wireless communication technology, which are designed. It need the only the service provide. The main objectives are that we are combining the 3G and Wireless LAN and WMAX. These two technologies will operate together.

Status Of My Work:

According to my project management up to now I was done the Research among the OPNET. Firstly I made a plan about my project, which includes the references and genres which will help to my project. Here in first two weeks I was done the investigation on the simulation software. Next 3 weeks I will complete the development of 3G and WLAN network. And next I will complete the Opnet simulation, testing and survey here I will test the project and I will verify the errors on my project and I hope I will complete my project in 9 weeks. The final product will be appeared in 10th week without having any vulnerabilities. Now a days searching on the Internet on different sites and will do it with in boundaries of time.


In this project the combining the 3g and Wireless LAN will be done in two methodologies which are Tightly Coupling and Loosely Coupling. In these two methodologies we are without any errors. But in some cases it will make some issues that make one planning for reasonable and more capable than the other. After we are simulating on OPNET the result will depend on these two methodologies. It is conclude that the loosely coupled is better than tightly coupling. Finally we will get the more profit of tightly coupled method. In loosely coupled architecture which allows 3G and Wireless LAN to work separately. It gives the facility that will help each other. There is no need of maintenance hence no expenditure on the project. It is highly compatible when the companies merge. Where the architecture is less dense the service provider can provide Wire less LAN (Local Area Network) of its own and is also compatible with the 3G service providers which are merged with it.
