Self-Esteem is the worth that people accord to themselves through personal evaluation and self perception of who they are. The different cognitive, socio-emotional and physical changes that occur among people would always influence their levels of self-esteem. People always need to have a good personal concept (Feldman, 2008, p. 217; Baumeister, et al., 2005). School programs to reinforce adolescents' copying capabilities with a sense of self are very fundamental and necessary for the betterment of the students' future lives.

Self-Esteem Enhancement School Programs

Different stages of human life have a number of challenges associated to them. Genetics, environment, and nutrition all have a huge influence to the actual person that an infant may develop and grow to become (Chao, 1994, pp. 10116-11118.). During their development, the lives that children at different stages live would determine the level of self esteem they would have in life. Self esteem of the young people is very much affected by the degree of social, emotional, and physical competencies that a child would have at the early stages of growth. Culture, social background, gender, and the social background have also been known to influence the levels of self esteem that individuals would have. School program play a central vital role in enhancing self esteem.

Stress greatly affects the manner in which people respond to life and other related challenges. The entrant to adolescence stage by children is sometimes an abrupt and unexpected stage in life to most children. To the young people, unless such a stage is closely monitored, it could lead to a number of problems to the youth (Roberts, Chen, Romeo, & Phinney, 1999, pp. 278-322). To ensure that such minor problems are avoided, proper education and awareness need to be done by the parents and teachers in order to boost self awareness. In schools, teachers have a responsibility to ensure that the learners' are made aware of the changes they would undergo and the emotional and physical transformations likely to take part in their lives. Through such education and self awareness efforts, schools ensure that the self esteem of the learners is enhanced. This ensures that through the high self esteem, the learners work toward achieving their goals and succeeding in their exams. At such time, the youth are better informed about life, education, and its importance, adolescences, among other related life issues that they are likely to encounter.

Changing Family Lifestyle

The continued change in people's lifestyle has led to a drastic change in family relationship style. Busy parental schedules and the need to invest more time at the workplace have made it very difficult for parents to spent adequate time with their children. Constant technological changes have resulted in children spending more time interacting with different entertainment technologies rather than their parents. Chao (1994, pp. 10116-11118). Such trends have resulted in the levels of stress among students constantly increasing. At time the students believe that they are neglected and their needs left unattended. Such patterns result into the students not believing in their capabilities. Based on Chao's argument on the issue of young people's self esteem, teachers do not normally have adequate time to attend to the needs of each learner to boost his or her morale and positivism toward approaching life. The lack of self belief is likely to leads to under achievement in academic work, poor social skills and the student may end up as social misfits.

Because of such challenges, there is a dire need for schools for schools to develop programs that would enable instilling of self esteem to student to be done with more ease through the academic programs taught in school. The programs introduced in school would be vital in ensuring that the poor modern social lifestyles are taught, the manner in which to address the social challenges addressed and the students made aware of their personal worth, capabilities, and potentials and the need to have self belief (Wadsworth, Connor-Smith, Compas, Alexandra, Thomsen and Saltzman, 2000). According to various assessment of the modern parenting patterns, children nowadays have low self esteem because of the fact most of the their family role models, parents, are under achievers, have low self esteem and believe in fate rather than exploitation of their potentials. School programs to enhance self esteem would cater for the needs of orphans and students whose social and cultural backgrounds do not offer any hope for the future. Lack of school programs that aim to enhance self esteem could lead to students high yet very fragile and inconsistent levels of self esteem. The situation is normally worsened whenever children believe that they are not accorded the necessary support they ought to have from their parents (Greenberg, 2008, pp. 48-55).

Teachers' Role in Talent Development and Self-Enhancement

Self esteem enhancement programs in schools are normally carried out by very experienced teachers who normally have a broader and better understanding of the needs of the students. Development of specific skills among the students in school through such programs boosts the ego of the students and motivates them to even put in more efforts. Unlike parent who may not have the skills to motivate the learners and make them fully aware of themselves, the vast experience that teacher conducting such programs ensure that the learners gain problem solving skills, emotional expression and regulation, positive thinking, avoidance of distraction, and cognitive reconstruction skills.

It is important to understand that high self-esteem in the students could as well mean that they think well of themselves regardless of whether or not the perception is on the mere wishful deception of self or on substantive achievement to be made in life (Greenberg, 2008, pp. 48-55). Parental efforts to enhance high self esteem do not pay attention to the negative effect of high self esteem. Schools should develop self-esteem enhancement programs to ensure that the teachers ensure a reasonable balance on both the positive and the negative high self esteem in the students. Bullies, aggressors, rude, and war oriented people are normally people with extremely very high esteem that is never beneficial to their future. Teachers even ensure emotional arousal among the students through development of necessary emotional arousal in the students by teachers. Negative parenting skills and behaviors normally contribute to children's low self esteem and poor behaviors (Chao, 1994, pp. 10116-11118). In schools, different programs to enhance student self-esteem help in the improvement of poor performance in academics, prevention of poor health and sanitation and in resolving the subsequent associated problems defiant social behaviors.

Conclusion

Efforts aimed at boosting self-esteem in students should always be guided to ensure that they address the individual needs of the student. Weak cultural background is normally a vital link between the family breakdown and a number of social problems that students and other young people face in society. The teachers who implement the self-enhancement programs should always aim at enhancing both self esteem and self control in the youths.
