Plato was a young man that examined life through innocent eyes. Plato believed in the good man. But Athens was experiencing a great deal of democratic changes which challenged Plato's ideal thoughts about what life should represent. When Plato became a young adult, he began to search for the meaning of life, especially his own. The understanding of certain factors about life and beliefs is what made Plato pursue this greater knowledge.

Consequently, Plato was mentored by his teacher Socrates, searching for the philosophical answers to meaning. Socrates emphasized critical thinking for the search of customary wisdom. Plato was so taken by Socrates that he made him a common character in his discussion. Socrates believed that the significance of life should be reflective. Socrates challenged the opinions and traditional ideas of others. Even though, he might fit into life today, he would probably question college professors today about their standards and if it would lead to knowledge that could be obtained by their students.

Furthermore, Plato and Socrates wanted students to understand the concept that they should be allowed to learn what they want to learn and the instructors should be allowed to teach what they want. When political views interfered with the learning process it became an issue for teachers and students to accomplish an adequate education that they believed in progressing. Plato later journeyed to other areas for cultural understanding of beliefs and knowledge. Plato would begin to dabble in finding his own views of establishing philosophy.

Nevertheless, Juliet examined her own life through all of her educational years to find a teacher that might have had such an impact on her as Socrates had on Plato. She tried to acknowledge all of her educators and the promise they had instilled in her reasoning about the importance of education and critical thinking. Juliet realized that one teacher was the greatest mentor of all her secondary teachers. Mr. Decker who was a high school history teacher showed great promise to mentoring her through much of her high school years. He helped her understand the tough political decisions of educational standards and what might be a promising step toward higher education for her. He was not only a teacher but he was like a counselor to help make the right choices in her education.

Definitely, when Juliet reflects on her education and who influenced her decision making skills the most he would always come to mind. Although, several other instructors have come and gone since high school, but her was the first teacher that truly took an interest in her education and future. He wanted great things for his students. Even though, he taught a history course his influence and character emphasized the importance of leaning about more than history alone. When Juliet thinks about her future teaching skills she hopes that some of his enthusiasm will be reflected through her.

The ultimate goal of providing students with the proper knowledge is lead through encouragement on their learning skills. Plato continued to search for the truth regarding reality. He saw the all necessary parts adding up to an interconnection of all life. Even the government had potential issues with social change and Plato recognized that there was turmoil in an imperfect place. He felt that encouraging logical discussion would lead to more experience on the learner. He thought that the state should have control over a student's educational structure.

As for Plato, Juliet believes that students should be encouraged to progress further in their educational needs. It is important for a teacher to observe the truth of learning through a student's eyes. When the state steps in and informs the educational system of what they need to do as best measures for the school it can cause some uneasiness among the teachers and state government.

In the modern classroom of today, educational standards might look very different then education of years ago. The classroom methods and constructivism would appear to be quite interesting due to the differences in the time of learning and the quality of education and what it means today versus years ago. Socrates would probably wonder how much students are actually learning from the education they are obtaining. It is evident that student's continue to learn just as much today as they once did but the educational standards are different due to the changing world of today. Technology has created a whole new world of standards that are required for individuals and government agencies to be successful. As a mentor Socrates provided Plato with the tools necessary to make him comprehend the importance of influencing his student's through teaching. Finding the truth about the world around them is what made their life status worthy. Even after the death of Socrates, Plato continued to do the work of his mentor locating the truth in reality about the world and its ways.

Hence, Juliet's thoughts of mentoring could be essential for any student that would like the opportunity to work with an experienced instructor in order to contribute to the learning process as knowledge. Even with the government's power struggles for ideal curriculum versus the educational institutions, many find some of the state's tack ticks unfair and irreversible when damaging the cognitive constructive process of upcoming teachers. When an older teacher is willing to take a younger inexperienced teacher under their wing and teach them the entire idealistic realization of the truth about education; knowledge blossoms with enthusiasm.

Perhaps the importance of a mentor is having someone with experience in a diplomatic sense to extend the knowledge of their fruitful thought provoking self. Throughout, the years that teachers have encouraged life for education, students have established a greater sagacity of the system as a whole. By Plato being mentored by Socrates, this has opened the gate for other great teachers to find the realism in mentoring future teachers. It has extending the life experiences of teachers, like Socrates once did. Therefore, Juliet sees that her most memorable educated life experience came from those few years with a history teacher that took the time to share experiences that created a knowledge based on logic.
