Critically reflexive practitioner is the starting point for this leadership development initiative, out of the box thinking six hats thinking is key for leaders during organization change., Sensemaking goes parallel to this, as leaders need to express themselves to he follower and persuade them towards desired future state. If the workforce composition is known to the leader then he/she can anticipate the different perspectives of individual behavior, reacting the same situation. Leaders need to respect the inner work life of their staff and pay attention to keep them motivated. Encouraging and nurturing the informal leaders the workplace resistance could be minimized. Conflict needs to be welcomed and seen as a source of improvement. Leaders need to continuously work for experimenting and developing the provisional selves during career transition- not complete mimicry but being true to self. Organisation culture is of less importance because it depends on the national culture of the region where it operates, in the modern digitized boundary-less workspace does it really matter?

What was covered that you, other stakeholders, or your business can generally benefit from?

Understanding different powerbases is a key enrichment, based on the situation and composition of workforce I now know which one to use [e.g. expert, referent, information or connection], I now know that coercive powerbase though might bring short-term success but in long-term non-productive and diminishes motivation. Earlier I had telling leadership style which is not effective, now I intend to develop the sharing, nurturing style, collaborating all stakeholders in the mission. Sensemaking is of paramount importance, every activity of us portrays the message and we have to be consistent in this. Establishing and maintain a Brand value is key for the leader that I learned. Useful thing I learned is stakeholder theory as business does not occur in vacuum we have to respectfully consider all the stakeholders of it [not just the shareholders] and collaborate. Person organisation fit and manage wicked problems is of less importance to me compared to the female leadership traits- caring, intuitive, sharing. As I work in an IT firm, I am familiar with the leadership style of parenting, coaching/mentoring and the leaner matrix structure operates in project mode, where information is shared freely and decisions are taken grassroots level. Informal leaders are encouraged in my organisation, who shares their expertise and caring/mentoring teammates, this resonates with my learning.

How will what you have learned impact you personally and professionally?

The ancient Greek maxim "Knowing thyself" could be the starting point of professional development, where the bigfive personality test could help. It reveals the type of person I am, my strong points and weaknesses to improve. I need to improve myself on openness, agreeableness and try to be Extrovert. I am a relaxed person that is good as I learned during crisis situation we have to be relaxed, calm and composed to manage the situation and develop opportunity form the situation. I learned how cultural diversity can cause individuals perceive the same message differently, which would help me carefully delivering the message in future respective the diversity. Motivation and different forms of it is a valuable piece of learning for me, I was weak here earlier now I learned to determine the individual motivations of work and devise task accordingly considering the affiliation, achievement and power needs. Making the workforce part of the decision and give them the feel that they are part of it makes them feel responsible for their part, this energize team - is a key learning for me, I lacked this earlier and I intend to apply this earning in my workspace.

Provide any additional relevant personal notes and observations

International flavor brought in the course by the diverse fellow students is an added advantage of this course, each bring from her/his rich background of professional expertise in diverse fields [e.g. oil rig, infrastructure, Bank and so on]. The interactions in the class and sharing knowledge with them enriched me not only professionally but being a better human being too.

I visit the classroom on day-1 to understand the week's study-material and expectations. On the Day-3, I submit the initial response and until 5th day I visit to participate in the group discussion. I find 3-day time is inadequate to analyze the materials, conduct research and develop the response; instead the 7-day rule could have been better.

Did you submit all of the graded assignments for the week? If not when did or will you complete the work?

I prefer to follow the rules and hence I submit all my submissions before the due-date/time. Uncertainty-avoidance is in my nature, helping me posting all due matters well-ahead to avoid last-minute technical difficulties. To prepare for the initial response, first I understand the question, then analyze the module text and other materials, I conduct research on UoL Library, Sage pubs to find material supporting my writings. I prepare a skeleton of my response; lastly I populate that with my research stuff and module references. My ICT background helps me in organizing research and developing the response- similarity with SDLC approach.

Did you have any personal problems getting the Module project done on schedule?

Keeping in mind that professional schedule and duties can't be compromised I had to sacrifice my time spent on personal matters like -hobby, entertainment and watching a movie with my wife, playing with kids. I knew beforehand that I had to make some personal compromises and hence it was expected to me and my family. At the end I enjoyed my studies after a long gap and above all my kids enjoyed a lot for seeing me study and kept a close observation whether I am studying well. This was the best part, when you see your kids act like grownups and punish you for not studying enough.

What did you like or dislike about the Module-or what would you change?

The 3day study and submission is not appropriate, it should be converted to a 7day, I believe that submission and then discussion is not working, instead first discussion and then submission - the mode in which universities work should be implemented here. Recorded lectures from the actual class are needed. Interaction to professors is what should be included apart from the chances of attending business workshops/seminars [webinar or web meeting] should be included in future modules. Also the instructions sometime were ambiguous and need to be improved. The UoL library search has to be improved, it is tedious and ambiguous.

How do you feel about your progress, both here and through your degree? Are you satisfied with your performance?

Two reasons, at the beginning, contributed to my poor performance, which are - first time experience of online-learning and a huge gap of 14 years since I last studied. Adhering to Harvard style referencing is another cause which affected me negatively. I am not satisfied with my performance until now, with great feedback from instructor, now; I know my gaps and areas where I need to improve. I will keep the lessons learnt in this module in mind for the next modules. I believe the study time is much less now, the 3 day format is insufficient to analyze and conduct research, we need more time to read the module-text and conduct research for the initial post.

What can I do to make things better? Be specific about the 'personal' aspects of your Module in this section.

Precise, unambiguous instructions are essential, which was lacking in few cases. The feedback should be unbiased, constructive and specific to individual, which should cater for each individual need aiming to his/her improvement. Feedback need to be included with specific examples from student's submission pinpointing his/her mistakes. Live lectures need to be included in the module study-matter. The turnitin is another area which needs improvement, the score includes bibliography and quotes and develops a higher score, it is expected that the human brain behind this would re-analyze the paper and put intuition to decide the plagiarism. Plagiarism must not include the submission name, bibliography and names like European Union or Cybercrime.

Conclusion

Overall it was a nice journey considering the teething problems which is expected in any new environment, entire Laureate team has done a great job in terms of availability of all facilities, classroom, library and prompt support during technical difficulties. I learned some excellent theories/technical which if I knew earlier I would have used them for better results, these would surely help me, my organisation and fellow team-members to excel our performance and obtain customer satisfaction and personal growth achievements. The access to the rich UoL library and Sage Publication library is an envying asset of this course.

Submit your Integration Paper on the last day of the week (Wednesday, midnight, your time). Your entire paper should be in the region of 1,000 words.  A bit longer is acceptable, shorter than 750 words is almost never acceptable. The subject matter of your summary is spelled out for you below. Please follow this outline-including using the prescribed headings.  You cannot combine or eliminate any category from your paper.  Please do not include references.  This is an exercise in critical thinking and integration-its design is to encourage you to think about the contents of these preceding eight weeks of study from a 'big-picture' perspective.  Again, this is not a research document-it is an assignment to encourage you to integrate the concepts of the Module and previous learning periods into your own situation and work environment.

A. What are the most important concepts and theories you have learned in this Module?  [While this often turns into a LIST, we expect to see your explanation of what you learned and why it was valuable (or not) to you in this section].

B. What was covered that you, other stakeholders, or your business can generally benefit from? [Not a list, but rather observations of what you felt was very good-or not so good--in the last ten weeks of study].

C. How will what you have learned impact you personally and professionally? [In your own words, can you see any effect the materials you've studied these past ten weeks will have on you personally or professionally?] Note especially any critical skills or competencies that you think the Module has helped you to develop.

D. How can you link the topics you have learned with previous classes? [only answer if this is not your first Module].

E. Provide any additional relevant personal notes and observations. [To make sure you understand the purpose for this section-this is about personal matters, not academic. You should put anything to do with your learning or the academic aspects of this Module in one of the first four sections. This section is about-challenges, difficulties you may be encountering, or suggestions for improvement]. However, as a minimum, Section E of your Integration Paper should include the answers to the following questions:

How many days did you visit and participate in the classroom each week (the 3 of 7 rule)?

Did you submit all of the graded assignments for the week? If not when did or will you complete the work?

Did you have any personal problems getting the Module project done on schedule?

What did you like or dislike about the Module-or what would you change?

How do you feel about your progress, both here and through your degree? Are you satisfied with your performance?

What can I do to make things better? Be specific about the 'personal' aspects of your Module in this section.
