Founded in 2000, the Sussex College is internationally renowned as one of the biggest education colleges in the country. Sussex College has a commitment to provide excellent education and training skills . The college offers 750 qualifications ranging between entry level to Higher Education. The College currently has more than 10,000 students and around 6,000 adult education seekers . Sussex College has more than 1400 staff and annual turnover of appoximately £60 million. Striving to be the best in everything they do, the college wanted to do more for their students by providing further education facilities. Therefore, a new project was created and was named INTRODUCTION OF UNDERGRADUATES PROGRAMS. The main concept of the project was to enable students to study further at the college itself after their courses at affordable prices. In order to achieve that, 3 undergraduate courses were introduced alongside its Professional courses, Diploma courses, foundation degrees and adult courses. The 3 courses introduced are BSC (hons) IN BUSINESS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, BA INNOVATIVE BUSINESS and BBA BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. In order to provide those additional courses, the college got affiliation from leading universities. In order to put forward this project a detailed research was conducted to collect primary and secondary information. A questionnaire was used to collect the primary data; this questionnaire was sampled on 6000 past or current students. This project described the primary data collection in detail in the methodology section it also gives a clear idea of the proposed plan, the budget of the proposed plan and the risks associated with it. A detailed company profile was given and to furthermore enhance the feasibility of the project the previous research that was done by other people on the subject is stated in the literature review.

Sussex College was founded in 2000 by Sir Alan Baker and his family. What started as a small partnership is now a big college with its own board of directors. Most of Mr Alan Baker's family are highly qualified and professional tutors who teach at the colleges itself. In addition more lecturers and professional tutors have been employed over the years to make sure students reach their full potential. They now have a dedicated team of staff on hand to advice on anything from welfare and accommodation to personal problems and financial issues.
When it comes to equipment, Sussex College has spared no expense. It has one of the best computer labs equipped with all the latest cutting edge softwares installed on to help students. The College aims to provide students with not only theoretical but practical knowledge as well. At Sussex College Campus, there are five computer labs which contains more than 400 computers. A whole spectrum of software including office tools, compilers, browsers, as well as specialist database, data mining, and systems analysis/design software are installed on all machines. All the client machines have Windows Operating Systems and there are postscript laser printers and line printers in all labs.
All these facilities are managed by the College's system support group.
Any registered student of Sussex College can use the library facilities. The students need to register his or her details with the librarian in order to do so. To register, the students need to produce their ID cards and fee receipts. The library is open with normal College opening hours.

3. Admissions process
College staff will follow the admissions process as laid down in guidance issued by the Admissions team, in order to ensure consistent and high standards of customer care (including efficient and timely decisions on acceptances and referrals).
Progression opportunities will be described to existing students via tutorials and 'internal' applicants will be fast-tracked through the admissions process at an early stage.
4. Selection criteria
In general, the College will consider evidence of prior achievement and/or experience when placing learners on to College learning programmes. This evidence may either be in the form of qualifications, or other experience relevant to the programme applied for.
The College reserves the right to take up academic references on all its applicants.
All full-time and work-based applicants from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 courses will normally be required to be assessed for Basic Skills prior to interview. This assessment may be waived where students' Basic Skills levels have been clearly established (e.g. by proxy) prior to interview, and are judged in the opinion of the College to be at the required level for the course applied for. The College may also assess the candidate using other screening and/or diagnostic tests, in order to ensure that the place offered to the candidate is at a level appropriate to their prior attainment and the demands of the course.
When admitting applicants, the College will try to identify their individual support needs - for example, learning difficulties; English as a Second Language (ESOL); low prior attainment in Basic Skills (usually maths and English); health issues or disabilities. The College will make adjustments to assist people with disabilities, and will arrange support where possible in order to ensure equality of opportunity for all applicants. This support may include Additional Learning Support and English language support as appropriate.
5. Over-subscribed courses
Where applications for a course exceed the number of places available, applicants who qualify for entry and are successful at interview will be offered a place in application date order.
In some cases the College may operate waiting lists based on the same selection criteria, which will be managed by the College Admissions team, or may try to offer additional courses (subject to viability).
In any case of a student being refused a place because a course is oversubscribed, they will be offered other possible course options.
The learner experience of the admissions process, in each faculty or campus, will be formally reviewed on an annual basis by the College Leadership Team.
3.5 PARTNERSHIP WORKING
Sussex College currently works in close partnership with the Universities of Brighton, Sussex and Chichester as well as the Open University to deliver and support HEFCE funded provision. The working relationship is strengthened by the support of Sussex Learning Network. In addition, the college has its own directly funded provision for Engineering and works with other FE colleges in the Engineering sector. The college is an active member of FE Sussex and is the lead for the developments in the Gatwick Diamond, working closely with East Surrey College and the South East England Development Agency. There are opportunities to develop progression routes from non-prescribed HE and other programmes into provision offered by partners.
Sussex College has five Centres of Vocational Excellence in Construction work, Health c are, Retail and two in Engineering. It has a Curriculum and Quality Council which oversees the quality assurance process for the college, including that of higher education through the HE Working Group. In common with all FE colleges, it is subject to an annual assessment visit by Ofsted as well as monitoring by the awarding bodies and HE lead providers. The newly merged college has yet to undergo a full inspection or a QAA Subject Review, but the two merged colleges had individual Satisfactory or Good Ofsted Inspections and QAA Reviews. In 2006 the college was awarded Action for Business status, evidence of its responsiveness to the needs of employers and a forerunner of the standard which FE colleges will have to meet in order to carry out education and training for adults in the future. 4.2 Further Education (Fe) Colleges
Most of the students who go to college are local school leavers. About 40% of school leavers will go on to college to study a practical and skills-based subject, leading to a qualification that will get them a good job, or simply to study academic subjects often in preparation for attending university to get a degree. However, colleges also run courses for people who are already in work and want to improve their qualifications, and for adults who are looking for a change in career or who want to return to study after a break.
People talk about 'Life long learning' in the modern global economy, and FE colleges play their part in offering a very wide range of courses at many different levels in their local community. Increasingly, some colleges are also offering courses specially designed foe overseas students, such as English with a foreign language, and programmes usually called Bridging, Foundation or Access, which prepare international students for university entrance (studyoverseas.com)
4.3 Funding & Courses
The Majority of FE colleges are funded by the state, and are regularly inspected for the quality of their courses and facilities. There are also a number of independent schools offering 'A' Levels, and access courses. Check prospectuses carefully to find out the full range of courses offered, what experience the college has with overseas students, and the quality of its resources and facilities. Colleges differ enormously in six, from very large city colleges with over 20.000 full-time students to small specialist organisations with perhaps only 100 students. You need to be sure that the college you choose offers the right course for you, is somewhere where you will feel comfortable, and has the experience and resource to make your studies successful!
The non-prescribed areas that a have good track record of demand from local employers are management, accountancy, human resources management, marketing and registered care managers. The trend at the College for Higher Education is to be very focused on employment and strong where the sector expectation is for training at this level, or where there is a statutory requirement. The new project at Sussex College aim to introduce 3 new Undergraduates courses to boost its existing wide range of qualification and diploma courses offered. The 3 Courses meets with the demand of the existing students and will be helpful to potential local and international students.
BSC (hons) IN BUSINESS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Business now a days is growing rapidly and the industry needs technological developments to keep their records and management up to date. This course is not a conventional IT degree, nor a straight business degree.
Most of the industries these days people with multi skilled degree thus to fulfil this need BSC in Business and Information Technology will equip the students with all the necessary information the industry requires.
BA INNOVATIVE BUSINESS
The BA Innovative Business programme is designed to deliver the students to lead innovation in business. This degree provides you with all the information necessary in the area of business innovation. This program will enhance and boost the knowledge of the student and help them in understand the complications involved in running a business strategy.
BBA BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
The BBA Business administration program aims to help student in developing their executive personality, intellectual ability and managerial skills, as this course is completely based on higher level of management . It also helps students to develope unique leadership qualities, which are used to manage different business functions and also provide a solution for the problem.Â This degree helps students to promote new business strategies and influence them to open doors to new opportunities in business. The present decade, people who hold this degree are admired in almost every business in the world .
To summarise, introducing undergraduates' courses in the college will increase its popularity as well as we will be able to attract more students, local and especially international as they will be looking for cheaper prices. Compared to universities, undergraduates' courses are more affordable in colleges.
5.1 RESEARCH COLLECTION METHODS
When research is carried out to reveal original data, it is called primary research. To carry out this research you need a proper plan, timetable, expenses and proper knowledge about the information your seeking. This research is more accurate and up to date as it is based on the real time information gathered by the researcher. On the other hand this information is also expensive but it does provide you with accurate data.
It is also called desk research. Secondary research is very commonly used by industry today. It is done by processing the data that is been already collected by third party. In this research, the researcher analyze the data collected by others in the form of reports, articles, data sheets and market research. As it is the cheap way of finding information it doesn't cost anything apart from time. It is relatively cheaper than primary research. The only disadvantage in this research method is that the collected data could be out dated as it was collected in previous time and this could lead to inaccurate information.
In this project a mix of both primary and secondary research was used but focus was put mainly on primary data. Primary data was chosen over secondary data as it is more reliable and provide accurate information about the research topic. The primary data was gathered via a questionnaire and was distributed to 3000 past and current students. The questionnaire was then gathered and the data was collected and analyzed as shown. With the addition of the secondary data from the literature review which was taken from mainly from the internet via various websites, this project put forward as shown the proposed plan.

5.3 DATA COLLECTED
5.3.1 COLLEGE LOCATION AND FACILITIES
All the students said that they were very happy with the location of the Sussex College as it is near to the main road and rail. It is in reach of people from London, Gatwick and Brighton. Their links with different local businesses help the student to find job placements from college and gain work experience by working in these organizations. Also with a wide range of restaurants and leisure facilities, students find themselves always busy. A variety of Churches, Mosques and Temples are present in the surrounding areas allowing the students to fulfill their religious needs.
5.3.2. STAFF AND METHODS OF TEACHING
The feedback received on staff was very positive indeed as students said they felt very welcome as soon as they came in the college. All of them said that their application process was carried out brilliantly and that the induction to the college went very well indeed. Staffs were with them at every step to provide support and help. The international students were happy to find out there is an international Adviser to offer assistance with living and working in the UK and also for visa extension procedures. The methods of teaching in the college were thought to be commendable by students as tutors are well qualified and have impressive education background. Alongside theory classes, there are several practical classes whereby students can go out of the college and do assignments and work placement relating to their courses. They found learning environment of the college very interesting and fun.
5.3.3. COURSES OFFERED
Most of the students confessed that they chose Sussex College over other colleges due to its impressive and wide range of courses offered along with skill for life courses. The adult courses offered attracted lots of working people who said they came to the college to gain more skill and improve their CV. The College campus has a large English Language Training Centre offering courses in all levels of English language plus English for academic purposes, University Foundation Language and Study Skills courses which appeals to international students.
However, from the feedback form it was noticed that most of the students suggested that undergraduates programs be introduced in the curriculum of the college. Already doing Diploma courses, the students would like to continue with their higher education at the college itself. They said they would prefer to do their bachelor's degree here itself than at the university as normally universities are much more expensive and they are so used to their college environment and tutors that they find it hard to adapt to another college after their diploma.
Students suggested that if they get affiliation from leading universities in London other that we already have, it will make the College more popular and if lecturers from those universities are employed on a part time basis for the different modules they do, they can gain some outside experience which will be valuable for their courses. 95% of students agreed they would like to do a degree in Business Administration and information systems.
6.0 PROPOSED PLAN
Following the survey questionnaire, data was gathered and reviewed and from that the new project for the Sussex College was conceived. The College aims to provide excellence in education and training for the students and this new project will be a milestone for the college as the introduction of undergraduate courses will take the college to another level. The new project will show to the students that they have been listened to and the management is investing in their future and give them the opportunity to do their degree in the College itself.
6.1 NEW COURSES OFFERED
Three courses will be introduced alongside the wide range of existing courses and it will complement the existing Business and Information systems courses available. The plan of the college is that if these 3 courses offered are successful, more courses will be introduced in the future. The 3 courses are as follows:
BBA Business Administration
BA Innovative Management
BSc Business and Information Technology.
6.1.1 BBA BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
The BBA degree is mostly referred to golden passport. Sussex College wants to give its students the opportunity through this degree to fulfil their need for high earnings, and increased responsibility. Professional tutors and expert on Business Administration will be employed to ensure students get the best out of this program. This course is a 3 years full time program. In the first two years, students study a different business subject including finance, operations management, the international business environment marketing, human resource management, and an optional foreign language. After the course students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge to a real business organisation and this is done by undertaking a workÂ placement offered by Sussex College.
The requirements for this program are:
Either of the following:
Points: 280 including at least 180 points from two A-levels or equivalent.
Points: 320 with 180 points from two A-levels or equivalent, not more than three units of Key Skills at level 3 or above.
6.1.2 BA INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT
The BA Innovative Business program is designed to meet the requirement for becoming entrepreneur and skills essential to lead innovation in business. The teaching strategies adopted by the College will transform the student's capability for business management and administration. The course duration is Three Years Full-Time or Five Years Part-Time. The modules included are Business Laww, Business Information Technology, Business planning and skills.
The minimum entry qualifications for this programme are: 220 UCAS points or 12 + points at A/AS Level, 24 points (Pass) international Baccalaureate. After completion of this course, successful students will be offered work placement by the college with the collaboration of Job Centres.
6.1.3 BSC BUSINESS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
This course is not a straight IT degree or a straight business degree. As this degree combines both disciplines and is targeted at students who are willing to value and manage information systems, in order to deliver maximum potential to an organisation.
Students on the course enjoy will enjoy 'state-of-the art' workshops, practical and computer laboratories equipped with latest facilities provided in a £7 million major refurbishment programme. Students will be taught real-life skills to enhance their chances to get recognition by companies . This course also offers the opportunity to undertake a placement year, working in a public or private sector organisation, to gain valuable experience of the world of work.
The course duration is 3 years full time or 4 years part time also called as sandwich. Core modules include Relational Database, Fundamentals of Business Information systems, Communications and networks for business, Application Design and Technology, Enterprise IT project management and so on. Compulsory Requirements for this course is Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language and Mathematics plus GCE and VCE Advanced Level:260 UCAS Tariff points and Edexcel/BTEC National: Distinction, Merit, Merit.
6.2 PROPOSED PLAN LOGISTICS
In the above proposed plan, we have introduced all the 3 courses and discussed how it will help students and the opportunities the courses will offer. l. In the following plan logistics, issues like additional staff employment, infrastructure, work placement and funding will be discussed.
In order to accommodate the growing number of students of the college, £7million has already been invested in refurbishing College's building which is now fully operational. Therefore it has been decided by management that a Business Centre will be embedded in the college itself where there will be 3 classes and laboratories equipped with latest technology standard technology. The project is cost effective as there is already a building which was unused and all building costs have been covered. Students will benefit from modern building and latest technology laboratories.
6.2.2 STAFF REQUIREMENT
In order to teach these 3 additional courses, lecturers will have to be employed according to the various modules. 10 full time lecturers will be employed and 5 art time staff will be employed from affiliated universities. For some of the module like basics in business and information and computer, existing tutors will be re deployed and increase their pay in order to motivate them. Also on a 6 months basis, markets experts will be called in to give presentation and talk to the students.

Colleges normally get their funding from tuitions, public endowments, donations, etc. Sussex College had bid for funding with government which is still in process. Sussex college being a hugely successful college is financially secure as they made a huge profit last year.
7.1 ESTIMATED COST OF PROJECT
Due to the recent refurbishment of the college's building, there will be no major cost of setting up the Business Technology Centre as space has been allocated in the building for setting the Centre up. Costs will include Fixtures and Fittings, labour cost, equipment for the laboratory and refurbishment of staff offices. The Breakdown of the cost is shown in the table below:-

An overall annual maintain cost of £ 60 000 will be needed to keep the building and other equipments up-to-date.

7.2 EXPECTED REVENUE
The fees structure of the courses offered are as follow:-

The initial number of students applying for these courses is expected to be 50 per annum and donations received are expected to be £10000 per annum. Also government is giving a £100,000 grant to help the College with the introduction of these courses.

8.0 RISK MANAGEMENT
The major risk Sussex College faces from this project is the competition fronm other colleges and universities. There are many other colleges in the region who are already doing undergraduates programs and some of them doing more or less the same courses offered by Sussex College. They are more established and have been doing degree courses since a long time. Also the universities are offering the same courses and some people have the concept that university education is much better than college education which is why some students will prefer to do the same course at a university.
However, the Sussex College is offering these courses at affordable prices along with better facilities and high tech laboratories. In this period of credit crunch, people prefers to save money and complete their studies at a college affiliated with a university which Sussex College is doing. Also International students prefer colleges due to lower prices.
Higher education is indeed very important as education is incomplete without further studies or degree level . Most students wants to complete their further studies in the college they have been, with their friends, the tutors they can trust and the learning environment they are familiar with. This is because sometimes they find it difficult to adapt to a new environment, with new people and making new friends all over again. However, this is not always possible as sometimes they have to move on. But the Sussex College with the new project of introducing undergraduates programs at the College means existing students can pursue their further studies at the college itself at affordable prices. Prospective students also will benefit from excellent education, high-tech building, affordable prices and other many facilities the college has to offer. Sussex College will benefit highly from this project as it will project a better image of the college and attract an influx of local as well as international students and bring huge profit margins.
