"Have you ever had a time where you sat in class and couldn't truly comprehend you teacher?" This question is not to imply that listening was absent, when the lesson was covered. But it's more than possible to say the lesson wasn't comprehended at its best as the teacher may have presumed it was. Everyone has been in this uncomfortable learning position once before. So don't think that this scenario hasn't played a role with everyone's life. It could have been that as a student understanding influenced by music, or a visual presentation. These are example of how students learn differently. I am here to show the benefits classroom instruction can place on student graduation rate when students are separated by learning styles. When classes are divided by learning styles students would have greater strides in class participation, improved grades, and enhanced graduation results.

It is not out of the ordinary to have a student attend a class and absorb none of the lessons taught in class. When a student doesn't comprehend their mind begins to wonder and has a tendency to under perform. In most cases teacher guess the lack of student participation is because he or she does not want to learn and the reasoning behind the lack of work is deeper. No one can adequately perform a task, if they don't have the proper tools to perform the task at hand. For example, if a student were asked to drive a bus, it can seem like an impossible task to perform. But if the student has taken the proper classes, receives the proper on hands training and licensing. The task will be performed more than adequately with the proper knowledge.

Some students enjoy watching a movie instead of reading the book. Or some students like listening to music and the essence of nature may even call the interest of a few individual students name. Believe it of not the method in which a student learns at his or her best is called a learning style. A learning style is a different way of learning. The types of learning styles available are: visual, auditory, and tactile/kinesthetic. Visual learners learning through seeing, this can be through an instructor's body language, handouts, and illustrated text. Auditory learners learn through listening whether through music, lectures, and discussions. Tactile/Kinesthetic learners learn through moving, touch, or even doing.

When a student is aware of their own personal learning style, her or she are one step closer to understanding each student's individual specific way in which they comprehend information. Multiple Intelligence plays a part in the learning divisions. Multiple Intelligence began with the beliefs of Howard Gardner. Gardner divided the multiple intelligences into seven different ways to demonstrate intellectual ability. The types of multiple intelligences are visual/spatial, verbal/linguistic, logical/mathematical, bodily/kinesthetic, musical/rhythmic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. These categories cover any learning method from puzzle lovers to movie watchers. These categories go into detail on a wide range of learning skills. Knowing the break down of the skills allows the students and teacher to be aware of how everyone true learns in different ways.

In education after teachers have been certified, each individual teacher teachs based upon their preference. The broad of education have a curriculum that forces the teachers to certain topics or subject by a certain grade or time frame. It's nice to give the educator the freedom to teach the lessons as he or she feels it will greatly impact his or her student's during instructional time.

Most educational systems have a basic curriculum. These educational school systems have been imbedded with basic curriculum without attempting to update themselves, when research is updated on students learning habits and comprehension. As time passes we have acknowledge students learning differently in the form of disabilities like ADHD, and even dyslexia. It would only be considerate for the educational system to place focus on the students various learning styles on a larger scale. Learning in a different way isn't a disability, but acknowledging the difference can be an advantage for the students attempting to earn an education.

As of the present time, documentation has been received on how the students can benefit from this type of learning yet the educational system is behind the times of their focus. I believe that if we stand strong on the focus of student's success and interest in school we could be more successful in graduation rates. And at this moment the learning style and multiple intelligence path has not been completely tested within the educational system as it should.

But the teacher only teaches based upon what interest him or her and not the individual students. Each lesson taught can be different but can only capture a few students in each lesson because of each students multiple intelligences and learning styles. Students who learn through visuals will only take a true understanding to documentaries being played or diagrams displayed. Or students that have verbal/linguistic traits may only pick up the lesson when they are reading or story telling is involved. These learning styles or multiple intelligences are the student's simple way of life through learning and comprehension.

Education makes the world go around and grow. It is a known factor that to be successful in many fields it is imperative to have an education. So the facts that we have students who do not even receiving the minimum education requirement ranks true significance. Five out of every 100 young adults enrolled in high school in October 1999 left school before October 2000 without successfully completing a high school program (IES). When given those numbers, it shows that 50 children will go down the path that doesn't surround a better education. I feel it is imperative to introduce new learning methods to close the falling gap toward the lack of education amongst today's youth. New learning methods should be introduced to improve today's education, with classes taught based on divisional learning styles. Gardner has stated that of educational systems are predominantly focused on linguistic and mathematical intelligences.

But Gardner also believes that we should shed some focus on the other intelligences to expand and assist a student within his or her personal growth and success. Perhaps if teachers incorporate a student's intelligence tit will provide a better strategy when applying lessons within the classroom for all the students. It has been acknowledged that the interest of multiple intelligences has grabbed many teachers attention. I still believe it is imperative that we enforce it's capabilities in the classroom. It's just like teaching a baby to crawl. It can't be expected that a child to learns how crawl on its own. If the child is taught the true mechanics of how to crawl and help the baby to practice the act is useless. It will be an action that will be hard to do if unaware of the tools the baby has available.

If a teacher has trouble reaching a student through traditional linguistics, there are several other options available. Multiple Intelligences plainly provides eight different ways to reach students to gain his or her interest to become successful within the lessons being taught. It would be an immense effort on the teacher's behalf, to build from a student learning style and cross reference to different learning styles to expand on his or her learning capabilities. If teachers focus on teaching lessons through all multiple intelligences, it will increase the student's interest.

The educational system should focus on educating our teachers on the learning styles and his or her advantages. The room for success is endless. Learning style preferences can be affected by a student's educational experience (Spurlin 2005). The more thoroughly instructors understand the differences, the better chance they have of meeting the diverse learning needs of all of their students (Brent 2005). "Instruction begins when you the teacher, learn from the learner. Put yourself in his place so that you may understand what he learns and the way that he understands it," say by Kierkegaard. If the education system should begin to branch out on its standard way of education and look into more modern ways to extend education upon their learning styles it would be a huge asset for the system. It will be more than possible to achieve a better success rate with graduating from high school and even higher education. These statements are not implying to build a crutch for our upcoming youth but simply build a more solid foundation. If we built from a person's strength each individual student can only get stronger within his or her educational comprehension. If, we over look a student's personal strength he or she won't know their capabilities and will be set up for possible failure.

The ultimate goal for any grade school student is to graduate. Most high school graduates can remember the feeling of being a senior and feeling like they were on top of the world. Everyone has had that moment where, it felt like everything is possible because he or she were in the process of achieving the ultimate goal. As of this present time, it may seem like a miniature milestone, it was at one point the biggest day of one's life. Graduation can be more than possible in everyone's list of goals to achieve. Many students reasoning for dropping out is because of comprehension. They say, "I was bored."

This in translation means I didn't grasp the complete concept. It's possible that he or she didn't understand the teacher's way of learning but maybe just maybe he or she could have understood the teacher next door. I have had personal experiences on my account in which I didn't comprehend a teacher lessons. And when I took the same class with another teacher a light bulb came on. It wasn't because of taking the class a second time around it was because of being taught in a different way. It was a way of teaching and learning that I could understand and enjoy learning. I was eager to attend the class the next day to see what else I could learn. So from an array of discussions I can agree with the notion of divisional learning styles for students. I can't guarantee that this method will be full proof. But I believe that we will be one step closer to complete success among our student's educational affairs. If, one believes and attempts to adjust to the students need we could grant today's youth more than just the possibility.

Every student can be successful. Yet I believe not every student knows how to be successful. Therefore, we as caring individuals should provide our youth with the opportunity to learn through a promising educational opportunity. A promising educational prospect would include learning styles within classroom instruction. Every student deserves the opportunity to learn completely each subject and enjoy it through his or her way of learning. Learning a subject in the format of a learning style allows students to learn how he or she comprehends best, would be like looking through your first pair of glasses after receiving an exam. The view and understanding would be breathtaking and could capture the student's heart in wanting to learn more. If we educate our students in a way they enjoy, it could become contagious and keep students interested in education and its benefits.

"It's not how you start, its how you finish." That is a quote my mother use to say to me about my personal success. Through, research I have learned that if a person is fully equipped with the proper tool he or she will be destined for success. Those proper tools would include the division of learning styles to focus on his or her way of learning. When we give today's youth a learning selection in school that they comprehend. We are properly preparing them for their future. Separation it's a huge mark toward building a strong foundation.
