First of all, one reason that makes the authors argument sound acceptable is his idea that there are lots of innovative form of teaching and learning. Â The author states that students can access the lecture content by using the pre-recorded materials. Â Since students can watch the lectures outside of class, there can be discussions or other activities in class. Â This online learning is convenience and flexibility for students because they can access the lecture on their own schedule. Â Students can study pre-recorded lectures at home, and in class they can have discussions and quizzes. Â To illustrate, it is easy to catch up the lesson anytime and anywhere as much as they schedule prefer. Â This is the most effective innovation for online learning which many universities try to attain (Proulx , 2012). Â In my point of view, I think Proulx's argument about innovative materials sounds reasonable for me. Â At the present time which technology is in the parts of education, we cannot only learn in the classroom. Â Moreover, online learning process is another option for learners to review a lesson and to do online group exercises or quizzes. Â For example, students who need extra time to realize certain concepts may be left behind. With these innovative materials, they will have ability to catch up the lesson by reviewing the pre-recorded content at their home. Â Online classroom are strong on activities, discussion and analysis of ideas and thoughts (Nelson, 2008). Â In addition, 62% of academic leaders surveyed from 2,200 U.S. universities and colleges demonstrate that the value and legitimacy of online education was accepted by their educational institution (Nelson, 2008).
Another writer's point that I agree with is that institution will apply a new method of teaching between traditional education and online education via a hybrid model in the effective way. Â In the digital age, not only faculty can create their learning program in class, but they can also utilize technology to create their course on the online world. Â Sometimes, this process is called hybrid online model. Â Hybrid model is a transformation of some learning processes from face-to-face courses to online courses (Martyn, 2003). Â In another word, some learning programs are taught in class whereas other programs are taught on the online courses. Â Furthermore, the hybrid model is useful for both faculty and students. Â For some students such as nontraditional adult students who are juggling family responsibilities and full-time employment, they can access and learn the online syllabus based on the period that they prefer (Proulx, 2012). Â In my opinion, this kind of teaching model is always effective in any kind of circumstance. Â Let's pretend that there are some group of students who cannot catch up with a lesson in classroom, and instructors cannot teach them after finish class, so the following question is that who will answer their doubts. Â With the blended learning, they can review and learn the lesson by themselves at home after finishing class ("Hybrid Courses", n.d.). Â The hybrid model assists immediate reaction through the digital drop box for assignment, the weekly chat and the use of email between learners and instructors (Martyn, 2003). Moreover, according to Martyn (2003), students who are familiar with blended learning attained learning result at a higher level or equal to students who in the traditional classes. To sum up, the author has indicate a fascinate point of a blended education model. Â With the digital age, knowledge is not only in classroom. Â Pupils should have an ability to utilize these innovations with their learning. In addition, instructors should know how to make their traditional class and online class be more interesting by adapt and utilize technology with their curriculum.
Finally, I also agree with the author's argument that online education does not always result in cost reduction.  According to Proulx (2012), even though faculty can increase the number of students who enroll their lecture online content, but it does not mean that online education always results in tuition reduction.  To reduce the cost of higher education does not depends on only the number of curriculums, but  also the institutions have to emphasize on the quality of professors to embrace online teaching. With the writer's ideas in the article, I strongly agree that universities should not only concentrate on their profit.  Suppose that the online tuition is cheap, but there are a few professors in this course.  It is easy to argue that no one want to learn in this course even if it inexpensive.  Nevertheless, if they can improve the teaching quality and provide cheaper costs, as a result, pupils will derive a good knowledge, and faculty can also increase a number of students at the same time.  Regarding quality, the Virginia Tech University reports their math's course results that scores in mathematics in general have increased 17.4 percent as the failure rate has decreased 39 percent ("Disruptive Innovation", n.d.).  Student centered learning environment not only illustrates measurable developments in the quality of learning, but it also a measurable decrease in the tuition costs (Twigg, 1999).  Furthermore, universities usually include non academic fees such as athletics, facilities and health insurance for their students.  With online education, students could choose not to learn on campus.  Also, online education indicates an opportunity to reduce cost of institution by replacing technology for physicals and labor fallacies (Vedder et al., 2010). To conclude, it is not easy to reduce cost and enhance the quality.  Nevertheless, if higher institutions have ability to manage an online tuition and to improve quality of faculty, it will provide lots of benefits for learners and managers.
In conclusion, it would be a future where institutions help students get what they need to become successful learners. While institutions remain critical it is not the only place where learning happens, learners must be able to explore all the opportunities from learning such as in classroom, online course and others. Â This article influences the audiences and indicates the five ways that technology will happen on the higher education. I have a same point of view with the writer about innovative materials, the hybrid online learning model and reducing the tuition costs. Â In the future, institutions might depending on more technology and adjusted their curriculum to be more effective.
