Current companies are doing business increasingly in an international context, so the requirement for efficient and effective intercultural communication becomes crucial in ensuring success in present international workplace (Peltokorpi, 2010). With globalization, intercultural communication is an unavoidable trend. The main purpose of this paper is to select and discuss one of intercultural communication topics, with critical thinking to address the question. The topic selected is “Examine how corporations can present the same communication challenges as cultures”. This paper will emphasize on the challenges of intercultural communication and how to overcome the challenges.

Firstly, it will introduce the knowledge and inevitability of intercultural communication, in terms of culture, cultural diversity, nonverbal and verbal communication, and intercultural communication. Following this, it will discuss the challenges in intercultural communication, such as time and space, nonverbal communication, individual responsibility, beliefs, and low context vs. high context. Then, it will make some recommendations to overcome the challenges in intercultural communication, including intercultural communication competence and the six phases to build effective cross-cultural communication. Finally, it will show effectively communicate with intercultural communication practices.
