In order for the process of modernization, people are enjoying the culture achievements all over the world. Native language becomes the most important part of culture. It has been threatened by English which is regarded as the worldwide medium of communication due to globalization. With the development of globalization, English that turns into the most significant language all over the world. In the articles named The Pew Global Attitudes Project writes, "Three-quarters or more of those interviewed in almost every country think children need to learn English to succeed in the world today" (2006, p. 173). A growing number of people are being encouraged to learn and to use English rather than in their own language. In China, due to the need of globalization, the good English proficiency has become a necessary qualification when an institution or a company signs up for a new staff. It is very reasonable that people needs uniform language, in which everybody would communicate each other.
Another point is that some traditional views which are important parts of native culture have been influenced by western culture because of globalization. For instance, for some the young generations, the attitude to sexual behavior before marriage has changed, they think the sexual behavior before marriage is acceptable. According to Li Yinhe, a sex expert at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences reported that "there 60 to 70 percent of Chinese have had sex before marriage, up from 15 percent in 1989" (February 3, 2008). In fact, the traditional sexual morality is being damaged.
As globalization swept across the field of education, it is also experiencing unprecedented opportunities and challenges. The face of "internationalization" and "diversification" of education, every country are implementing a new education policy, a new education reform to adapt to globalization and development needs. With the expansion and diversification of educational resources, global education, openness to the expansion of educational exchanges between countries in the world the degree of steadily deepening. For example, Chinese education should be based on local culture, absorb the essence of education in order to achieve progress in education and development. However, knowledge should not be limited to a select few. As the store of knowledge expands throughout the world, all of the world's people should have as much access as possible.
Globalization has brought a lot of positive effects to our world, especially economic wise. A major one is being the possibility to increase benefits from the economical development in our nation. The breaking down of global barriers allows companies to benefit from the largest and cheapest workforces, raw materials and technology. For example, many IT programmers actually produce much of their software in China; because of the cheapest expense cost. Another example could be export and import. Nowadays, thousands of goods were shipped and received across the world which brings enormous benefit to both business parties. Export countries can sell their resource or products at a much higher price compared with local distribute price. Import countries will also able to allocate their limit labor, resource, time and money to the area where they are more competitive.  Trade between countries help maximum each party's wealth.
Other advantages are that for smaller business owners can have opportunities in expanding their companies globally, having more choices when recruiting a workforce. More importantly, they gain an opportunity to target a larger customer base in the world. According to a survey by World Academy of economic science, the development of world economy increased 48.7% during the period of globalization. In sum, it pays to develop it to improve the level of economy and citizens' life quality (World Economy, 2005). The advantages of globalization not only benefit one nation of economical development, they also help create a harmonious cultural environment among international business partners.
Even though globalization affects the world's economies in a very positive way, its negative side should also be considered. The most important cost of globalization is job insecurity. The first world country shift of jobs aboard to the third world country, so "the competitive advantage of many developing countries lies precisely in their lower cost of doing business" (Confronting Anti-Globalism, 2001, p. 175). For example, Chase bank hires collectors in India to work the phones. Therefore, that causes more numbers of unemployment in America. Lawrence Anne said that, "As many as 3.3 million white-collar jobs will be outsourced from the United States comes from people who feel their own jobs, pay an livelihoods, threatened by workers aboard who can do their work more cheaply" (Business and Society, p134).
Globalization also hinders the development of some native cultural industries. "Larger majorities in 42 of 44 countries believe that their traditional way of life is getting lost, and most people feel that their way of life has to be protected against foreign influence" (The Pew Global Attitudes Project, 2006, p. 174). A good example is from film industry. Right now, people have all kinds of choices to watch movie. However, people would choose the overseas films rather than the films made in China. This is harmful to domestic film industry. Another example is that a traditional opera, Peking opera, is being forgotten by young generations since they are attracted by western opera and pop music. If this condition continues, Peking opera is likely to disappear from Chinese culture in the future because of the lack of heirs.
To summarize, globalization is not just impact the culture, and the growth of economy, but on all aspects of life. On the one hand, globalization is the major feature of the world economy now. Broadly speaking, globalization benefits both developed and developing countries. As a result of globalization, a number of developing countries such as China, Brazil, India, Indonesia, and so on are becoming major players in the world economy. Taking the various impacts of globalization on the world into consideration, the globalization process brings more benefits than detriments to poor, developing countries.
But one the other hand, globalization brings about many harmful effects on traditional views and some native cultural industries. We should realize these negative effects while taking part in the international cooperation and exchange and should try our best to reduce them. Only in this way, we can promote the development of our native culture.
