This WHS management plan sets out the safety management system adopted by Gaafar Constructions Pty Ltd, in order to comply with the Work Health and Safety Act and ongoing national WHS requirements. The aim is to achieve compliance within the workplace and to facilitate the reduction of accidents/injuries in the workplace.

WHS Documentation and Records Control

This WHS management plan will be closely monitored to ensure the prevention of unauthorised copies and any outdated policies. All amendments will be reviewed and approved by the authorised personal before being recorded and logged within the register. Policies will be reviewed and changed yearly or upon change in process and the Acts and legislations.

Gaafar Construction Pty Ltd management team have the following responsibilities and accountability under WHS and accident or injury management in the company.

MANAGING DIRECTOR / CEO

Develop and implement safe work procedures, policies and programs.

Identify, assess and implement systems and procedures to control or eliminate risks and hazards at the workplace.

Ensure procedures and programs for reporting hazards are in place.

Monitor the effectiveness of the WHS system.

Ensure up-to-date WHS and injury management information is collated and provided to all employees.

Ensure adequate WHS consultation through the development of a WHS committee or representative.

Ensure distribution of WHS documentation to all employees.

Ensure that employees carry out correct WHS procedures and provide appropriate management.

Ensure that employees are competent to perform the duties required and that appropriate training, instruction and supervision is provided.

Communicate with employees and the WHS committee or representative in all aspects of the WHS Act.

Ensure disciplinary procedures are implemented in respect of any employee who ignores or disregards WHS requirements.

Supervise employees work performance and correct unsafe work practices.

Monitor compliance with Safe Work Method Statements for workplace activates

Resolve any WHS disputes in a timely manner.

Carry out regular safety inspections and investigate workplace accidents and health issues.

Assist in employee's rehabilitation and administer all return to work policies.

EMPLOYEES

Take all possible care for the health and safety of persons at the workplace and who may be affected by the employee's acts or omission at work.

Comply with all workplace rules, WHS management plan and policies (including SWMS), emergency and evacuation procedures and any requirements imposed in the interest of health and safety and the welfare of all.

Identify, assess and implement systems and procedures to control or eliminate risks and hazards at the workplace.

Ensure works carried out correctly to WHS procedures. Seek assistance if unsure of duties and obligation under WHS.

Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is maintained and used correctly. If defects are found inform the appropriate supervisor on rectification.

Report all near misses, incidents, accident and injuries to supervisors, directors or managing directors.

Report all WHS hazards, faulty tools and non-compliance to authorized representatives.

Provide alternative solutions through consultation meetings, toolbox meetings and company meetings on how to improve hazards and WHS policies and procedures.

Carry out regular safety inspections and investigate workplace accidents and health issues.

Provide advice and assistance on WHS matters and resolve any WHS disputes in a timely manner.

Carry out other WHS duties as delegated by the Managing Director, Directors, Project Manager and Supervisors.

CONTRACTORS / SUB-CONTRACTORS / VISITORS

Contractors, Sub-Contractors & Visitors are required to observe and comply with all procedures within this WHS management plan. The supervisor of the site where works are to be carried out will be the responsibly authority in ensuring that all works comply with both internal and external procedures.

All 3 mentioned personals will be made aware of all procedures, which will need to be agreed upon and will have to conduct an induction training prior to any works onsite. Should any non-compliance happen, the matter will be raised with the responsible persons immediately and an appropriate action will be taken.
