Generally, discrimination occurs in occupation and employment in all kind of work environment. Discrimination is define as the act of treating people differently or prejudice against someone because certain characteristic for an example is race, age, gender, color, disability, religion which results in unfair treatment and opportunity. 2.1 Pay Discrepancies
The most common factor that happens in hospitality industry will be pay discrepancies. Based on a research in 2006, women made only 77 cents for every $1 that a man made on average, according to the Wise to Social Issues website. A man and a woman hold the same job positions share the same job duties and have equal amount of work time but the productivity and efficiency are different. This is because the employer think that in physically woman are weak than a man and she is not capable to handle her tasks well. Due to this reason, the employer will pay fewer wages to female workers compare to male workers. This is not necessary that all women are not capable to handle their job and duties well. Some of the female workers are able to perform better than male workers when they are having the same responsibility. So that, the employer should not discriminate women and think that women cannot perform their job well.
