After few decades, women workers are still facing work place discrimination in hospitality industry. Women workers always receive unequal treatment compare with men workers and results to women can't be professional in hospitality industry. There are few factors that contribute to professional marginalization of women in hospitality industry.

2.1 Pay Discrepancies

The most common factor that happens in hospitality industry will be pay discrepancies. Based on a research in 2006, women made only 77 cents for every $1 that a man made on average, according to the Wise to Social Issues website. A man and a woman hold the same job positions share the same job duties and have equal amount of work time but the productivity and efficiency are different. This is because the employer think that in physically woman are weak than a man and she is not capable to handle her tasks well. Due to this reason, the employer will pay fewer wages to female workers compare to male workers. This is not necessary that all women are not capable to handle their job and duties well. Some of the female workers are able to perform better than male workers when they are having the same responsibility. So that, the employer should not discriminate women and think that women cannot perform their job well.

Sometimes women may also the factors that increase productivity, efficiency and income of the hotel organization.

2.2 Hard Labor

Hard labor is one of the factors that contribute to professional marginalization of women in hospitality industry. This is a very weird opinion that the employers will automatically assume that a female worker is weak and unable to perform hard labor. This thinking have been become another factor which results in employers will refuse to hire female workers who cannot meet the requirement and perform well of specific job position. This type of workplace discrimination against women is very common in the hospitality industry while the female workers have to handle and perform specific tasks when there is an event in the hotel organization. For an example, if a woman fails to pick up and perform the tasks required of a hard labor job. The employer may have an excuse not to hire her due to this reason. By the way, if the woman which have the knowledge and experience in doing hard labor tasks or she is capable to handle the anxiety of the job, the employer still refuse to hire her. So this is workplace discrimination because of her gender.

2.3 Pregnancy

Pregnancy discrimination is the most common factor that can be seen in many different industries, especially the employer who places a high value and expectation on the appearance of its female workers in the hotel organization. Most of the employer will refuse to take or hire a woman which is visibly pregnant or who had been pregnant as employee. The reason why they refuse is because the employer itself doesn't want to deal with the possibility of the woman will resign the job after giving birth or giving a one month leave for the females worker after they had been giving birth based to the Family and Medical Leave Act. Due to pregnancy discrimination, many of the job applicants choose not to tell the employers about their pregnancies. Sometimes, employer will ask illegal interview questions of pregnant applicants because they refuse to hire against employees who may get pregnant. Due to this factor, the employer thinks that the female worker may not perform well in the work place when the female's workers are pregnant. The employer worry about the productivity and efficiency of the hotel organization cannot reach the expectation when there are pregnant workers in the work place. Other than that, the employer will also have to recruit part time workers to replace the pregnant worker and the hotel organization will waste time and cost in training new employee. This is why the employer is refused to hire pregnant women as employees.

2.4 Employment discrimination

Employment discrimination is discrimination job assignment, compensation, termination and hiring as well. Employment discrimination may involve various type of harassment. Most of jurisdictions prohibit certain types of employment discrimination, often by the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of certain qualities. Sometimes, discrimination often takes place in subtle forms, such as wage discrimination and the requirements of the different impact on certain groups. Employees sometimes undergo retaliation against workplace discrimination of report violations to the authorities.

2.5 Stereotypes

Most of the gender differences in the basis of the problems are our tendency to stereotype people. Actually stereotypes is not bad at all, it's just the way human being goes wrong when they stereotype people based on their sexual orientation, gender, race, religion and more than that.

For an example race, black women are the most who suffer from additional stereotypes that man hold about them. The employer may discriminate about women of color and race. There can be disastrous to a woman's career because of her skin color and races are different from the employer. Furthermore, the employer thinks that male worker will perform better than a female worker in every field of the workplace. This is why women are less likely to have chance to show their talent and performances in hospitality industry.

3.0 recommendation and conclusion

From my point of view, women have their right to choose what the jobs they want to do. The employer should not discriminate women and the employers have to provide the chances for them to prove that women are being able to handle rough tasks and responsibilities. Most of the time in hospitality industry, female workers are more able to control their anger and patience as compare to male workers. In addition, women may be professional if she had been expertise in this field area. Therefore, women will have helped the hotel create awareness, productivity and good image as well.

By the way, if female workers had been discriminate in the workplace. There is certain Act and laws to protect women and make sure that the female workers are threaten equally. In this century, people should be more open minded especially people those who are working in hospitality industry. This is because while working in the workplace the frontlines such as front office department, waiter, and bell boys and many others, they will have to direct face to face serve the guest. So, this worker should be open mind to accept the guest races, culture religion and more. Therefore, employer should give chances for women to be professional in hospitality industry.
