Multimedia software's are needed to create multimedia contents. With the use of computer, almost every multimedia projects became digital and therefore software's are needed to create them.

Some software's used to create multimedia

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is very famous image editing/creating software. It enables users to create images, edit and enhance them. The software is capable of doing much more.

Adobe Flashhttp://www.freewords.com.br/wp-content/gallery/conheca-o-adobe-flash_1/conheca-o-adobe-flash-programa-adobe2.jpg

Adobe flash is an animating and web scripting software specially designed for web contents. It enables users to create games, interactive learning software's and great animations.

Microsoft power point software is used to create slideshows. With it comes a great variety of animations and effects.

FL Studio

FL Studio is one of the software used to create music. It enables users to create music allowing users to modify, and script a large variety of virtual musical instruments.

A2. Explain different stages of multimedia application development.

Multimedia application development process is almost like any other application development process.

The major stages in a multimedia application development are:

Planning and costing

At first some ideas comes to developers mind and it may be shared with some other developers. Then they group up to make the idea more cumbersome and creative. They plan how the software should work, what is the user experience needed to use it.

Designing and production

At this stage, the developers develop the programs one by one as the task and make the software.

In this phase, the software is run and tested for bugs and to improve performance. Also in this phase they check whether it is performing as planned.

At this stage, the software is delivered. In this phase, the software is shipped, installed and maintained.

Section B

B1. Explain different applications of Multimedia

Multimedia is used in almost every area including business, education, entertainment, engineering, medicine etc…

Multimedia in Education

Modern days more and more multimedia is used for educating. Schools, colleges uses videos and other multimedia to teach. Computer based trainings are becoming more regular these days.

Commercial uses

Considerable electronic media used by commercial industry is multimedia. Exciting presentations are made to get and keep attention in advertising. Businesses to business also interoffice communications are often established by creative services companies for advanced multimedia presentations further than simple slide shows to shift ideas or training. Commercial multimedia developers may be appointed to design for governmental services and other services applications as well.

Engineers use multimedia in Computer Simulations for everything. From entertainment to trainings. Such as military or manufacturing training. Multimedia for software interfaces are regularly done as a teamwork between creative specialists and software engineers.

B2. List Different Input/Output devices used in Multimedia Application.

To use as in any computer applications, input and output devices are used in multimedia applications.

Some Input devices are:

Pointing devices

A pointing device is a piece of hardware that allows a user to input data to a computer. Most common pointing devices are mouse.

A keyboard is a bunch of keys arranged in a particular way to interact with the computer. It includes letters, numbers and symbols.

A microphone is a device which is used to record the audio. The device captures the sounds of the surrounding area in analog format and then sends to the computer.

Video input

There are many devices used to input video to computer. These include cameras, mobile phones etc…

Output devices

Computer monitors visually represent what the user does with the computer. Without a monitor, there is no way to find out how the program is behaving with the given commands.

Speakers are used to play the audios. In multimedia creations and applications the speakers are needed as there will be audio in music's and videos.

Printers are used to printout the created multimedia.

B3. Explain The Use of Communication Technologies in Multimedia Services.

Basic multimedia communication technology have a tendency to cover a series of multimedia devices, such as sound cards and graphic cards which allow consumers to make visual presentations that output sound and /or images. For example the digital camera can be used externally to the PC, and lets the user to record images. When connecting the camera to the computer, using a cable, images will be arranged and printed. Many computers have sound cards kept within them; this lets output of sound from speakers over the use of CD's, and other designs that may have music involved in it. Sound cards let persons to listen to music played or stored on their computer. While Communications technology states to the broadcast of data from one computer to another or from one device to another.

Some communication technologies are

Random Access Memory

Also called RAM, have the application programs and data in current use.

Computer Networks

Computer networks are able to succeed communication among a couple of computers.

B4. Explain About Multimedia Video

Video is made up of all the elements of multimedia, bringing products and services alive, but at a great cost. Scripting, set creation, hiring actors, filming, production editing and mastering can add up very quickly.

The embedding of video in multimedia applications is a powerful way to convey information which can incorporate a personal element which other media lack. Video enhances, dramatizes, and gives impact to your multimedia application. Your audience will better understand the message of your application with the adequate and carefully planned integration of video. Video is an important way of conveying a message to the MTV generation. But be careful; good-quality digital video clips require very sophisticated hardware and software configuration and support.

The advantage of integrating video into a multimedia presentation is the capacity to effectively convey a great deal of information in the least amount of time. Remember that motion integrated with sound is a key for your audience's understanding. It also increase the retention of the presented information (knowledge).

The ability to incorporate digitized video into a multimedia title marked an important achievement in the evolution of the multimedia industry. Video brings a sense of realism to multimedia titles and is useful in engaging the user and evoking emotion.

Several elements determine the file size; in addition to the length of the video, these include

Frame Rate

Image Size

Color Depth

B5. Explain about the broadcasting video standards

Broadcast television systems are converting or format standards for the broadcast and reception of television signals. There are three main systems in current use around the world. They are:

NTSC is a TV standard developed in the U.S. in 1953 by the National Television System Committee. NTSC uses a Frame of 486 horizontal lines in the Active Area and a Frame-rate of 29.97fps.

Phase Alternating Line, is a color television system for analogue television used in broadcast in most countries broadcasting at 576i.

SECAM is an analog color television system which was first used in France.
