Key words: Cyber pornography, Internet, personal computer

Cyber pornography is pornography that is distributed by means of various sectors of the Internet and it is one of the terrible abuses that target young people when surfing the net. That is because young people are the fastest growing user group of Internet. These young people they most of their time on internet through iPod, instant messaging, mobile video, YouTube; social networking sites like Facebook, file sharing, chat rooms, multi-player interactive games and web cameras. In early days, use of internet was limited to the PCs but nowadays terabytes of information is being shared through laptops, PDAs and smart-phones. Internet in itself is a neutral medium that provides access to enormous amounts of information and many new forms of communication which empower individuals to share unlimited amounts of material to a wide audience almost instantly and provide means for people to create places within which they socially interact with each other [2]. Internet has opened a new world for young people to explore and learn. Young people are encouraged by teachers and family to take advantage of Internet for their learning. Although not all the content on the web is suitable for the young and while this click-away information provides many benefits to the users, it also brings about serious threats in the form of exposure to cyber pornography, access to illegal and harmful material.

Besides many benefits that are being provided by the internet, it is also a place where young people can be seriously harmed [2]. This is due to some factors. Internet is to a large extent, used also by people who exploit young people like pornographers. These abusers can remain relatively anonymous, and because young people make unsupervised use of the internet, this new technology is making it easier for the exploiters to reach young people and make contact with them, with a smaller chance of being caught by law enforcement agencies [2]. Offenders use the internet to find vulnerable young people to exploit by jumping from one chatroom to another and online games. They no longer need to go out to search for the vulnerable young people in parks and public places. They particularly look for young people who seem unhappy and isolated. Since these offenders they are in the mask of anonymity, they offer sympathy and care to these young people and by doing this; they gain their trust [1]. Young people are naturally curious about sexual matters and hence they fall easily in the trap of these offenders who offer them to show them what they want [1]. There is little to no ethical control on the internet content, which makes it possible for young people to come across all kind of images or messages that are unsuitable or thoroughly harmful for them [2]. The social interactions that are in virtual settings often differ from those that are found in the real world, with moral standards lowered in many cases, and can have a deep impact on forming young people's attitudes and personalities[2].

Young people adapt to the amazing speed of change in the world of Internet much faster than adults, which makes it difficult for parents and teachers to monitor their children's behaviour online. Parents have increasingly become concerned about the potential dangers that young people are facing when surfing the net. While other parents imagine that their children are safe at home, in reality they are thrown into the virtual world completely unprotected.
