1.1 Introduction about the project

This is the project I have done for my final year project. And this project is basically based on the functions of an online ordering system for Laptops and a communicating system such as a forum and a troubleshooting system. The problem that I am planning to do this project is, nowadays there are so many computer accessories companies are established in the world and they handle so many business activities such as PC assembling, PC repairing, Data fixing problems etc...but now the peoples are busy with their works so they don't like to waste their valuable time. Because of this reason we need to think about the easy of the work every time and the internet is the best place to do our work easily, by targeting that we have to make our products more concern so it will be easy to publish our products throughout the customers.

Within this project I have done an online ordering system for laptop and laptop accessories for the customers and if any customer wants to solve the problems that they have regarding their laptops they can placed their problem in the forum section that I have developed and they can get the professional solutions for those problems as well as they can send e-mails by using the system facilities that I have implement in the system and can get the solutions for those problems.

There is another problem that is going on nowadays, that is people have to pay for the software that they are downloading from the web. Within this system I have given some important software to the customers to download freely such as Antivirus software etc...the purpose of this is to gain the more customer base.

Main important part of an e commerce system is to get the attraction from the user and keep them close to the business system. When its talk about the web based ordering systems there are more options that people can select themselves so it will be hard to keep the customers with the business process of the system. To achieve that goal it need to be clearly identify what the customers expecting from the system and need to provide the service that they are expecting.

This web based ordering system provides Laptops, Laptop Accessories and Technical Support to their valued customers as well as the communication facility among peoples who are using this system and provides many different services and products in the fields of ICT. This web based system will helpful to do the business more effectively and accuracy and more easy for the customers to solve their problems and ordering the new items as they wished.

1.2 What is 'Online shopping'? --

Last ten years the history of the online shopping has been shaped. While online shopping is commonplace now, it has not been around forever. Thisis the process where the user takes to purchase a new service or product by using the internet. Another word it can say, a consumer may buy the products that they want from an online store. This main concept was first time demonstrated before the WWW (World Wide Web) was in use with the real time transaction processed from a domestic television. The technology that was used called by Videotext & it was first demonstrated in 1979 by M. Aldrick who has designed and installed systems in the UK. By 1990 T. Online stores are usually available on a 24 hour basis, and permit consumers to shop at their leisure without any traveling and outside regular business hours!

Another point to take into consideration is that when the internet was first conceived it was not with the ideal that it would change the way we shop. On the contrary the web was created as a tool for communicating, which in time let to the convenience of shopping virtually. The history of online shopping by itself symbolizes the change in our society and has by now become a service used by business and regular shopper all over the world.

They documented all the details about the customers and other details also. During this stage Terms of Reference (TOR) is prepared and following are the main thing done during this stage;

  1. Identify user requirements
  2. Identify System boundary
  3. Identify specific of resources what is required for this project
  4. Also identify the parts of the system and determine what should be change and what should be remain on the system.

1.6 Feasibility Study for the new System

A Feasibility Study is a preliminary investigation of a new project, to decide whether the proposed system is feasible, and will realize benefits that are expect from proposed system. This is an overview study of the system and process one or more conceptual solutions to solve the problem. According to the feasibility study developers can identify whether this new system is benefit for the company or not. So based on this stage management can decide weather.

1.6.1. Legal Feasibility

In Legal Feasibility, it determines whether the propose system is legal or illegal according to the country rules. The proposed system dose not violates any of the laws in the country, so the proposed system is appropriate system for company.

1.6.2. Technical Feasibility

In this stage it checks whether the organization has enough technologies and skills to implement new system. Following are the hardware and software those are can be use to develop the proposed system

The proposed system is fully computerized, so work with new system is more convenient than work with existing manual system. In order to ensure the proposed system is work properly, it is better to implement the new system while remaining the manual system. If the new system works properly then the old system can be removing and new system can be continued or else if the new system does not works properly then the old system can be continue as normally.

So the new proposed system can be implements and it is operational feasible system.

1.6.4. Economical Feasibility

In economical feasibility stage it checks whether the new system can be implement using the allocated resources such as budget, staff, software etc... When the new system implement initial costs are heavy, but the new system becomes operational, the monthly expenses can be reducing. So the new system is more economical feasible for the library.

1.7 Introduction to methodology

First carried out feasibility study and then prepared feasibility study report. After feasibility study carried out detailed study of the system which covered problem in the current system, gathering requirements to proposed system and prepared requirement specification.

To design proposed system use object oriented methodology which support Unified Modeling Language (UML). The design specification containing overall system design, database design and program design.

Develop and implement the proposed system in pre defined time schedule which include in "milestones". Then test the system. Produce documentation by including user and system manuals, program listing, test plan for the proposed system. Prepare the final report.
