We live in a multimedia world, surrounded by complex images, movements and sounds .It is a known fact that our human evolution has focused in making our technology reflect the color and glamour of our surroundings. Multimedia and hypermedia systems are steadily growing computer-based technology that finds a vast area of applications in the field of education, science, medicines, research, Information technology, commercial purposes, and so on...The main criteria in which these two systems gets differ is the way the user gets involved in using the systems . In case of a multimedia user, he experiences a passive involvement whereas in a hypermedia experience the user is more actively involved. This report describes briefly on the electronic multimedia and its companion concept, hypermedia.
Multimedia and the Internet require a completely new approach to writing. A good site must be made with a specific purpose in mind and a site with good interactivity and new technology can also be useful for attracting visitors. The site must be attractive and innovative in its design, function in terms of its purpose, easy to navigate, frequently updated and fast to download. When users view a page, they can only view one page at a time. As a result, multimedia users must create a 'mental model of information structure'.
Multimedia is the integration of text, sound, animation and digital video. Multimedia refers to an ed combination of media including text, audio, video and animation which can be accessed interactively. Multimedia enhances presentation of information. Integration problems - the integration of these technologies for application in education, business and other uses are not well understood. Training a team for the required purpose of time consuming and experimental.
Access problems - it is commented upon that information is presented in such a way in hypermedia that it becomes increasingly difficult for finding a more detailed level of insight. The data is presented and bars people from going deeper in to the info.

And hypermedia is simply multimedia in a world wide web context or for presentation in a web environment like a browser or intranet. Both multimedia and hypermedia use texts, images, audio, video, animations and other types of media for presentation. Websites, movies, advertisements etc extensively use multimedia technology. In case of hypermedia, the content is accessible non -sequentially. Ie. The users can access information for a pool of links and spend time only on those aspects that they require. This is not the case of multimedia where the information is represented sequentially and the use has limited control over the data presentation.
