UVD is Compact, reliable and low-cost UV LDs, Reflective optical components and holographic optical elements for the optical head, More complete integration of the entire optical read/write head, New storage layers optimized for UV read/write, Mastering and replication processes optimized for UV read/write.
Method of Data storage and capacity
The method of reading and writing is similar to other discs like blue ray disc. As we know that numerous pits are there in the disc on which the data is stored with the help of laser beam of various wavelength [407 nm in case of blu-ray]. In UV system this beam used is around 202 nm of the light spectrum.
Maximum capacity per side is 167.2 GB for phase 1 and 432 GB for phase 2. Maximum cartridge capacities are 334 GB and 864 GB respectively. A polycarbonate substrate and a spiral groove for tracking is still used in phase 1. The success of phase 2 may require the use of patterned media both for tracking and bit confinement.

Ultraviolet Disc is the future of optical data storage and is much more advance technique than blu-ray or holographic data storage. It is got immense capacity to write the data on a single disc. Optical storage for content distribution is facing new competition by cloud based content access system. However, as the size of content is growing with higher resolution there is still a role of local storage technologies like optical discs, at least for some time in future.

PlayReady is a platform for digital rights management: a content access, protection technology for digital content services, devices and applications. Microsoft PlayReady is a content access technology for games, images, ringtones, music and video. Audio, cellphones, set top boxes, consumer electronics products and softwares. It provides a platform for distribution and use of digital content.
a music file license in this scenario may contain right to play and not right to burn to disc and might enable these rights for a period between January 1, 2012 and October 1, 2012. It is also possible that there will be multiple licensing for a particular file.
The architecture of this platform and the role of each element in this architecture.:
The architecture of this technology is based on servers capable of functioning in coordination with each other. The main components/Servers involved in this architecture are as follows
Content Packaging Server,
Playready Client or Playready enabled portable device
The Function of Content Packaging server is take in unprotected content and package, content is copied to distribution Server and license information is transferred to a Licensing Server..
The Function of license server is to store a valid license information of contents which man information to play or not to play the contents within a domain network. The license information is also embedded in content file.
The function of Distribution server is to store and distribute the content on request.
Domain server implements rules for use of contents and the user need to register the devices on which he/she wanted to access the contents
Metering server is responsible to keep information about number of times the contents are played.
Microsoft PlayReady technology
The detailed steps of a content request/download process using this platform (a user that wants to play a media file (audio/video) protected using this platform
From a consumer's standpoint it is very easy to use it. Consumer can transfer content to all his devices and be able to play content on all those devices. User can enjoy content from the operator's service on all the devices joined to the domain. All devices that support Microsoft PlayReady technology-from a PC to a mobile device-can be part of a domain.." Any device on the domain can consume Microsoft PlayReady-protected content that is acquired by any other device in the domain, if they have a domain-bound license for the content. The user may easily add or remove devices from the domain, as long as the total number of devices (and PCs) in the domain does not exceed the limit defined by the service.
Conclusion: Microsoft PlayReady is a content access and protection technology designed to meet the advanced feature requirements for digital entertainment content services and devices. It enables a wide range of business models to be applied to virtually any type of digital content-including music, video, ringtones, images, games. I love this technology.
