CCTV camera means closed circuit TV. This closed circuit TV uses one or more video cameras to broadcast video images and audio images to a monitor which is controlled by a set of people. The difference between CCTV and normal TV is that normal TV openly broadcast signals to the public, but the CCTV does not openly broadcast the signals to the public. This CCTV uses wireless transmission or wired transmission to send the signals from the cameras to the monitors or the recording devices. The microphones in the CCTV cameras would capture a distance of 100yards from where the camera is located. Usage of these CCTV cameras have so much increased so that in a average there is one cctv camera for every 14 peple in the country.

These CCTV are mostly used for the purpose of surveillances like security, spying, safety and other purpose which is to protect and safe guard the required person.

This argument is not to avoid CCTV cameras, but it is for weather CCTV cameras with microphones are essential?

Reasons for avoiding CCTV cameras

  1. The public feels that their private conversations may be recorded by these CCTV cameras which might end up harming them.
  2. in an average for every 14 people who live in britian there is been a cctv camera placed which so conversations made anywere in britian are been recorded by one or the other cctv cameras.

Public feels cctv camera as a trouble because there are thousands of personal conversations each and every public will transmit between others were they feel it should be kept personal were they feel others shouldn't know it but because these cctv cameras its put on the screen were others know it which cause a terrific trouble to those individuals. According to the recent researches only one crime is been solved by each thousand CCTV cameras in London. These CCTV cameras leads to major expenses but minimum utility from it.

Cctv cameras can be beneficial only to limited sources with limited extends were it cannot be beneficial for more extends like whole of uk and things like that for example CCTV cameras can be beneficial for small extends like supermarkets, shopping complex, casino and places like that because in these places there will be a separate person who is been appointed to see all the images regularly without intervals so that if any misconducts like theft robbery and things happen which will be immediately be noted and it is that the thief cannot run a far distance were ha can be caught very easily by the shopkeeper itself and can be handed over to the police with the evidence of the video image which is available in the CCTV camera. But on circumstance like robbery in centre of the road and things like that it is only the police officials who should follow the thief and should catch him in these circumstance the police can't be present every were there is theft or other illegal things happen so in which these CCTV cameras would just act as a point of evidence for the police which is of not that useful. Though it is beneficial to a certain limit it is not entirely beneficial.

Reasons for not avoiding CCTV cameras

  1. The first and for most reason for placing the CCTV cameras are for the safety and security.
  2. These CCTV cameras can find out theft, fights and any other illegal activities which may occur in the society. Where everything is being recorded by the CCTV cameras for the witness
  3. after the arise of these CCTV cameras you can definitely say the most number of theft and robbery as been reduced, though not reduced fully it has been reduced to a certain level which is surely for the benefit of the public.

The use of CCTV cameras has increased only because the benefits earned by the CCTV cameras is more like the theft and other illegal things are been recorded so in which the CCTV camera users are been benefited which is the main reasons for the increase in the CCTV cameras. A supermarket owner cannot put a employee for every customer who come to the shop cause there may be theft in the shops, and you cannot believe every employee is true to the owner were all these circumstances can be fulfilled with the help of CCTV camera, because with the help of CCTV cameras the owner can easily find out if at all any thefts occur in the shop and if at all any employee who works in the shop is not true to him. Which is the main reason for the occurrence and the increase of these CCTV cameras?

Retailer Maplin recorded a 265% increase in its sales of CCTV cameras, monitors and recorders, over the five years to 2008.

Another example why CCTV camera is necessary is because if a person who very often goes outside for tours and other purpose where there is no one who stays in the house here he would try to have some sort of security to his things which he has in the house for those purpose he might need the assistance of the CCTV cameras for what is happening in his house once he is not there in the house here the CCTV cameras will be beneficial for the safety of the products which he has in the house cause anything may happen once he is not there in the house were at least he will have some sort of clue to provide to the police to find his things back to him here CCTV acts as a benefit the particular person by recording the day to day things in his cameras. Were at the same time it acts as a discomfort to the neighbours because it is not only the activities in his is being recorded it is that activities and speeches around the house is also recorded which hurts the privacy of the neighbours who live next to him, so CCTV cameras cannot always be beneficial at the same time it can also not be harmful always the only thing which would be done is place CCTV without microphones, and at the same time reduce the usage of the CCTV cameras everywhere in the locality.

This being the circumstance the information commissioner's office is developing new guidelines which could ban the CCTV operators from recording people's voices.

The main reason for this essay is because 70 percent of the people opposed the idea of CCTV camera recording conversation. Being the country of democracy it is the right of the people to oppose things like that since democracy means by the people for the people and to the people, in this circumstance you can't entirely avoid the CCTV cameos cause it is not for the safety for the users cause it might leads to circumstances were theft robbery and thing would increase which is not for the safety of the public at the same time you can't have CCTV cameras which records the personals talks of the public, so the best part would be having CCTV cameras but without microphones which will not affect the CCTV camera users as well the public.

This conversation is also been brought because of the increase in the CCTV cameras in the society since you find CCTV cameras everywhere in the society most of the people fear that all the conversations which they speak might be recorded which is not as good for them which is found to be the main reason. If this circumstance continues there will be one day were CCTV cameras will be placed on the toilets stating that it is for the security reasons. So there should be reduction in usage of the CCTV cameras all around the world, since up is of the country which holds more number of CCTV cameras in it this should be first implemented in UK.

Nightmare of George Orwell

George Orwell's (1984) nightmare of the shadow of the author's former London home has come true, though it has taken little longer than he predicted but his prediction of cameras and computers spy on every person's movement is now here.

Foresight: The cameras crowd George Orwell's former London home

The latest study of the CCTV cameras has mentioned that Britain has a staggering 4.2million CCTV cameras were there is one camera in the country for every 14 people in the country and 20 percent of the camera globally.

Statics mentions that a single person is caught around 300 times in the camera for every single day.

Use of spy cameras in modern-day Britain is now a chilling mirror image of Orwell's fictional world, created in the post-war Forties in a fourth-floor flat overlooking Canonbury Square in Islington, North London.

You can always feel CCTV cameras are for the safety of the public and it shows no harm for the people who doesn't do anything wrong, but it is not so cause there will be every personal issue of every single person in the world where it all comes to the show because these CCTV cameras, just imagine a CCTV camera next to your house which records each and every activity of your which you do, which will certainly be uncomfortable to you because each and everything you do and you speak will be recorded by the camera and will be seen by the others because of these CCTV cameras. But still CCTV cameras which are available next to your house are always a safety which protects you from theft and other illegal activities which may occur in your surroundings. Though it acts as a safety measure people doesn't like it because their privacy measures which they feel to be maintained. So the best part which could be done here place CCTV cameras which doesn't have microphones in it so the only the images of the people will only arise and so that the rest of the conversation will not occur, though it is not the complete measure of solving it, certainly it can be taken as a reducing measure which reduces the pressure of the public by CCTV cameras which doesn't capture the conversation though the entire pressure is not reduced still certain part will be reduced which is anyway benefit to the public.

Most of CCTV systems are illegal, says experts

Experts say that almost 95 percent of CCTV systems which are operating in UK are illegal. According to the law the companies which have CCTV in their premises must provide an information that they are capturing the personal information about the public who are in the surrounded locations, which details should be given to the information commissioner were most of the companies in uk are not following it. A new has been enforced in Scotland on 1st of November stating that operating systems on a contract to have separate licence. This law is already in use in England and Wales but they are not been applied for the companies who are directly working for the company whose premises are directly being surveyed.

SIA head of investigations Jennifer pattinson has given a statement stating that if CCTV cameras are to be placed in the public places for their security purposes then they should get a SIA licence from the SIA head of investigations which is for the purpose of public security and privacy purpose.this is all done to reduce the use of the CCTV cameras in the country which almost kills the privacy of the public who live in the country. These all are done not to entirely stop the usage of the CCTV cameras but to reduce more usage of the CCTV cameras in the country.

Police and CCTV camera

An official report states that the local authorities are spying on the minor offenders even though they are banned by the law by doing so. Police has a wide link with these CCTV cameras because they act as evidence to the police, for example the police will easily come to know were theft, robbery, or any other illegal activities has occurred and this also acts as a evidence for the police to find the robber or the person who has led the crime. So the police always have a close link with the CCTV cameras for their benefits. Things like terrorist attacks would also be known by the police because of the usage of these CCTV cameras were there is one camera for every 14 people in the country. Because the usage of this CCTV camera rules are strictly been followed by the public in the fear that things they do which would be recorded by the police for maintaining the rules so the public has a fear that not to disobey the rules in the country so the rules are been very strictly been maintained in the country which is always beneficial to the country. There is a common saying which says that if the public obeys and follows the rules properly and correctly it always leads to the beneficial and the growth of the country.

But this is not always true because according to the recent researches only one crime is been solved by each thousand CCTV cameras in London. These CCTV cameras leads to major expenses but with a minimum utility from it were it can't always be said it beneficial to the police to find the crime and to reduce the crime rate in the country. So police are not mostly depended on the CCTV cameras as other shopkeeper and casino are.

CCTV and the commercial users

Most of the commercial users like shopkeeper, casino, and restaurants are mostly benefited because of the CCTV cameras because all the products they do are immediately perishable which can be stolen very easily by anybody. Here the usage of CCTV cameras are very useful cause each and everything the customers and the workers do in these area will be recorded by the CCTV cameras which is beneficial to user so that he can easily find the thief and protect his products easily from people like that. For example if a person steels a beer can from a super market he would be easily recognized by the owner of the shop through the CCTV cameras. Here in this circumstance the owner of the shop saves his beer can from theft because of the usage of the CCTV cameras.

CCTV and Pubs

CCTV has a very close relationship with the pubs were in most of the pubs there are CCTV cameras been fixed for the safety of the public as well as for the security for the users. In most of the pubs you can find a CCTV camera because it is the place were which mostly ends in fight and things like that so for the safety of the public and for the security of the users the CCTV cameras are fixed in the pubs. In pubs there are many incidents which take place where people think it to be personal but it will be displayed in CCTV cameras which are fixed in the pubs. There are hundreds of people who visit the pubs which all are been recorded in the CCTV camera which is for the safety. In case of any problems in the pubs all the mistakes done by the individual will be taken out for the safety of the users.

Though all these ways the CCTV cameras are beneficial still there are many disadvantages because of the usage of the CCTV cameras were people are been affected by it.

Usage of the CCTV cameras leads to many benefits to the public at the same time there are many disadvantages in the usage of these CCTV cameras. If the usage of the CCTV cameras increase in the this ratio then one day there will one camera for each and every person which will be recorded by someone or the other were no privacy will be maintained by any person in the country and then you can no way say the country a democratic country. You can never say usage of CCTV cameras are always useful at the same time you can never say usage of CCTV cameras are harmful cause each and everything in this world will have certain befits and at the same time it might also be harmful to others because each and every persons thoughts are not the same it keeps differing from person to person so the best thing which can be done is maximum utilizations of minimum resources. According to my opinion you can never say CCTV cameras are not useful at the same time you can never say CCTV cameras are useful here the best thing could be done is CCTV cameras should be used but on a minimum usage at the same time without microphones(except on certain circumstances) in it so that though there wouldn't be much effect on the usage of CCTV cameras were everybody will be benefited because of this, were the user as well as the public are benefited which according to me is the best way to solve it.
