"Sandy Bridge" is that it is an Intel project code name for a new processor architecture. In Sandy Bridge, the CPU and graphics processing unit (GPU) were combined in one 32 nanometer piece of silicon. Sandy Bridge technology is a part of the 2nd generation Intel Core processors and is a completely new microarchitecture. The new microarchitecture will enable faster 3D and video processing speeds, as well as increased performance for gaming, HD videos, 3D graphics. The chip also requires fewer buses which translates into faster processing speed.

There will be a wide variety of different processor types introduced into the mobile, desktop, server, embedded computing market segments starting in early. The way CPU die has been re-structure in the Sandy Bridge architecture to give a tighter integration between the memory interface and processing.


Intel Sandy Bridge was launched on January 5th 2011 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. When the launch is made, almost manufacturer in the world has come up with Sandy Bridge.
