A Mesh network topology is a very reliable and a sensible concept. In addition, it has been the least chance for a network break down to occur. Moreover, there are many potentials of a combination of routes and hops a data or an information to be transformed that can take it to arrive at its destination in one way or another.

The bus topology defines the single cable that can connect the entire workstations such as the printers, servers and many other devices in the network. The advantages of the bus topology is, it is cost effective, this is because only a single cable is being used, the cable faults is easy for identify, it also reduces the weight due to fewer wires, it is easy to install and easy to use and so does easy to maintain it too, last but not least, it is very well-suited for a temporary or a small networks not requiring high speeds resulting in faster networks.

The disadvantages of the bus topology is, it only has limited cable length and therefore number of stations are limited too, if a problem occurs with the cable, the whole network would break down, the maintenance costs for this topology might be higher in the future, it would work best with limited number of nodes and lastly, it has a slower pace of data transfer than other networks.



Star Topology

A local network is the Star Topology which is being used; every gadget is joined up to a central hub. Moreover, the star topology approves every machine on the network to consider a point to point connection straight to the central hub.

Besides that, in a network topology like this, every node of the network is approves to a central node. This central node is known as a hub. The information or the data that is transmitted among the nodes passes through the hub.

Adding on, a star network provides a certain amount of clarity while accomplishing isolation of every device in the whole network. Despite that, the disadvantage of a star topology is that the network transmits hugely depending on the hub.

Star topology lowers the chance of network failure by connecting the systems to the central node. However, star network topology normally needs more cabling to be networked than the normal bus network. A usual cable that is used in star topology is called the RJ45.

The entire network is dependent on the hub, if the whole network fails to work then there could be a problem with the hub in a star network. This factor makes it easy to troubleshoot by offering a single point for problem connection at the same time the dependency is very high on that single point.

The advantages of the star topology is, it is easy to install and reconfigure, the cost of it is cheaper and easy to manage, there are no disruptions to the network during connecting or removing devices, it is however easy to detect errors and to abolish parts. The disadvantages of the star topology are, if the hub fails, the whole system would not function, it also requires more cable length than a bus topology. A star network suitable for small networks also functions efficiently when there is limited number of nodes.




A ring topology defines as nodes equate to literally two different nodes, making a single pathway to continue for signals to go through each node. Information hops from one node to another node, with each node additionally the way handling every packet.

The Hybrid network uses a mixture of any two or more topologies in a way that the resulting topology does not display one of the normal topologies for an instance, bus, star and ring. Additionally, a hybrid topology is produced when two different basic type of network topologies are connected.
