There are different kinds of stimuli which might lure an individual, it depends on the individual as to which stimuli is respected and not. Perception is The process by which an individual gives meaning to the environment. It involves organizing and interpreting various stimuli into a psychological experience (Gibson et al., 1994, p, 106). Through this way person continue to recognize different stimuli, which helps them in analysing the surrounding and giving meaning to the environment. Different individuals have a different insight on things. The process of perceptions benefits managers on a tremendously large scale, as managers will be able to observe their subordinates better in the environment. Perception also influences manager's actions, which will in return help them in making better decisions, solving affairs at the workplace, which will help the organisational growth.

This essay will be covering the process of perception and explain as to how

it is beneficial for organisational managers.

According to Stephen.P. Robbins Perception can be defines as means by which individuals organize and interpret their sensory impressions in order to give meaning to their environment. Perception can vary from person to the person it also depends as to how different individuals analyses the same situation in a different way and interpret it.

The process of perception is separated into 4 parts; the first part is the selective process. Selective perception amounts to picking out the stimuli that are most likely to be helpful and ignoring the others. (McKenna, 2006p.144). Selective perception can be widely discussed with reference to (a) external physical stimuli, (b) absolute and differential thresholds and (c) disposition of the perceiver.

External physical stimuli roll's out attention, such as size, repetition, position, colour, movement, novelty and contrast. (1) Size: having a large size attracts more attention; we can take advertising as an example. When the size of the advertisement is large it increases the amount of readership as it attracts more attention. (2)Repetition: is one the determining factor as it increases the readership. When a person notices the same information again and also it is said to have a better understanding on the information. (3) Position: is extremely useful as it draws attention to specific products or information only. When we take a sample of an office set up it is extremely vital for the manager to have a clear view of this team so that he/she can see their behaviour and actions. (4) Colour: is generally used to identify the hierarchy in management, example the blue badge, white badge and green badge. (5) Novelty: is all about observing unique patterns in the environment, managers need to consider new ideas or alteration all the time. (6) Contrast: contrast is similar to novelty. Self -Awareness

Self-Awareness is about understanding or having a clear perception of your own personality, which might include your strengths weaknesses, thoughts and emotions. Self-awareness helps u realize how other perceives you, your behaviour, and actions to them at a particular situation. Evolving self-awareness helps managers in having a better relationship with his/her subordinates or team members. With having a good understanding of how you relate to others, can help managers to change their actions so that they can deal with them in a positive manner. Self-awareness helps managers identify gaps in their leadership skills, which promotes skill development. As and when a managers starts developing self-awareness he/she will be able to make changes in their thoughts and interpretation in their mind., Self-awareness is one of the aspects of Emotional Intelligence and an critical factor in achieving success. Perception in self-awareness is all about understanding yourself better to be more productive for the organization.

Managers control the organization's behaviour. Thus, managers are required to make the best possible decisions to profit their organization. In order to make the best decisions, mangers need to understand the perception process. Once the managers understand the perception process he/she will be able to make the best decisions needed for the organization to gain profits. There is a process which the managers need to follow to make the right decision. Managers need to collect as much of information or raw data that can be collected, fist the manager needs to analyse the information before he can make any decision. Managers also need to remember that every decision made has to be beneficial for employees and well as the organisation. Unsatisfied employees lead to less productivity which will harm the organisational reputation. Managers also need to understand that every person has biases. Mangers must also understand people invent their own perception the perception might often lead to judging others. If the manager has understood the process of perception totally he/she will be a plan out a series of options or plans before taking the final call .when We take an example where in a manager has been given a target from the business as to hire 40 associates in a months' time, its left to the manager as to how he/she would go about it. If the manager is well versed with the process of perception he would start analysing and strategizing as to how they would meet the target, through advertisement, taking external help form agency and many others. Mangers will also understand how different individuals will react to his decision with the help of selective attention.

Everyday managers have to make decisions on certain things. The more information the managers collect more effective will be the outcome of the decision. Manager's decisions will influence their behaviour than the situation or problem. Managers face these situations on a daily basis which will give them room to improve on their decision making skills by understanding the process of perception. Managers would have to pay a lot of attention to biases so that they can be reduced into marginal. Helps them explore there horizon which will help them in finding out different ways it would be more effective.

Performance Appraisal

Performance appraisal is one dreaded responsibility of any manager; if the appraisal is done in the right manner it would defiantly improve the efficiency of an organisation. Performance appraisal system can be effective only when the manager has understood the process of perception. Performance appraisal is a process in which employee's performance is assed from time to time by his/her managers. The process various from organisation to organisations. Performance appraisal is not only about giving out annual reviews year by year, it is also about understanding an employee by identify his/her strengths and weaknesses.

Managers need to understand the organisational objectives, goals, leadership principles and performance management. It is extremely difficult for a manager to have an effective performance review without any set objectives for the employee. Managers need to make sure that there employees understand what they are supposed to achieve and how they are going to go about achieving it. Managers also have to ensure that people should know what is expected out of them, when they need them to achieve it.

In performance execution mangers need to keep detailed observation on their employees performance so that they would need to review them based of performance for the entire year. Managers also need to make sure that they not biased on employees and treat everyone is the same manner while reviewing them. Most of the managers fear performance review due to confrontation of feedback as they might not know how to put it across to their employees or might not had communicated enough to understand them, by having an on-going communication throughout the year, the fear and anxiety associated to performance appraisal will be lessen, which indeed makes it easier for managers and employees. Managers need to make sure they remove subjective biases and not judge an employee based on this personnel preferences or experiences which is not interlinked to the same organisation. Managers need to analyse every employee's strengths and weaknesses through the review and work on them so that the employees and organisation is benefited out of it.
