The process of perception is separated into 4 parts; the first part is the selective process. Selective perception amounts to picking out the stimuli that are most likely to be helpful and ignoring the others. (McKenna, 2006p.144). Selective perception can be widely discussed with reference to (a) external physical stimuli, (b) absolute and differential thresholds and (c) disposition of the perceiver.

Managers need to understand the organisational objectives, goals, leadership principles and performance management. Managers need to make sure that there employees understand what they are supposed to achieve and how they are going to go about achieving it. Managers also have to ensure that people should know what is expected out of them, when they need them to achieve it.

In performance execution mangers need to keep detailed observation on their employees performance so that they would need to review them based of performance for the entire year. Managers also need to make sure that they not biased on employees and treat everyone is the same manner while reviewing them. Most of the managers fear performance review due to confrontation of feedback as they might not know how to put it across to their employees or might not had communicated enough to understand them, by having an on-going communication throughout the year, the fear and anxiety associated to performance appraisal will be lessen, which indeed makes it easier for managers and employees. Managers need to make sure they remove subjective biases and not judge an employee based on this personnel preferences or experiences which is not interlinked to the same organisation. Managers need to analyse every employee's strengths and weaknesses through the review and work on them so that the employees and organisation is benefited out of it.
