Monitoring of their performance.

Encouragement to employee involvement is based on the thinking that people involved in a process know it best, and on the observation that involved employees are more motivated to improve their performance.

As an employer, you have to recognize the qualities of your good employees as they are an asset to any organization.

4. Basic requirements of an employee which contributes to positive outcomes for both the organisation and the individual employee is given under below:

Enthusiasm

An employee who is enthusiastic and has a positive attitude in the workplace is worth their weight in gold. Enthusiastic people work hard, learn quickly and aren't discouraged by setbacks, but more importantly, they create a positive atmosphere in the workplace, improving morale and encouraging others around them to work hard as well.

Strong Work Ethic

Enthusiasm is a great quality to have, but if a person is always flitting from one project to another without finishing anything, that's not as useful. Employers are looking for workers who are hard working and can follow through and complete tasks that they are assigned to do.

Initiative

The majority of employees are reluctant to display initiative outside of their area of expertise - they simply want to clock in, do their work, and clock out again. The truly valuable employees can display a willingness to get involved with numerous projects, to help and encourage others, and to find creative solutions to difficult problems.

Reliability

When you travel to your job, are you often late for work? Do you take numerous sick days? If so, that's a bad sign for an employer. Businesses in the UK lose over £13 billion every year from absent and late employees - even if you are hugely talented and highly experienced, if your employer is always having to find people to cover for you and work around your late arrival, you aren't likely to be a good investment for them.

Great Communication Skills

Almost every job will depend on a good level of interaction with co-workers. Employees are looking for people who can express themselves clearly and accurately, both in writing and in speaking, and just as importantly who can listen, learn, and follow instructions.

These are all qualities to reference in your CV and to try and demonstrate in an interview, but they are also important to work on in your existing employment - they'll make you a better (and in all likelihood, a happier) employee. I've helped many people to get their ideal travel job, and it is invariably the candidates who have these five characteristics who are most likely to succeed.

Hard worker: There is no substitute to hard work. Although everyone seems to say that they work hard not many keep on working after being at the job for a while. So, one has to keep reminding oneself about the importance and significance of working hard as an employee.

Adaptable/decisive and effective learner: Employees who know how to adjust themselves to new environment, willing to learn new things (quick learners) and perform their best in changes are likely to be the best performers in any organization.

Team Player: Many companies consist of teams. Any company requires an effective team effort. An employer who can contribute is an ideal worker. Someone who is like a fish in the water (of the organization), who can perform well in a team will become a factor sooner or later.

Helping others: everyone appreciates a helping hand every now and then. Do not hesitate in helping out others. This make the person establish friendly relations with the co-workers and keeps the office running smoothly which in turn is appreciated by the employers.

Honesty: A good employee is honest about his/her work and qualifications. Self criticism and willing to receive feedback (bad as good) is essential to become a good learner.

Give credit where it is due: One of the most prevalent practices doing the rounds in offices today is stealing the credit of a job well done. A good employee will not only truthfully let the right co-worker have her credit but also share her own accolades with his team.

Polite: Being friendly and approachable will never harm. a good employee greets her co workers a 'good morning', says little courteous things like 'thank you' and 'you are welcome'. These things may appear insignificant but go a long way in establishing the person as favorite employee.

Disciplined and punctual: Every boss loves a punctual, disciplined and conscientious employee. Time is money. Coming late to office, taking unnecessary breaks, procrastinating and leaving earlier than the usual hours cost money to the company. No employer will ever appreciate this.

Avoid gossip: The person should always remember that she came to the office to work, to make a career. Do not spread office gossip or rumors. Respect the privacy of the co workers. Safeguard and protect the confidential nature of office business and transactions.
