The target was incorporated in July 1999 and is managed by techno-professionals with more than 30 years of experience in seed industry.

The activity of the company can be broadly categorized into:

Research and development for new varieties of hybrid seeds

Commercial production and marketing of hybrid and OP (Open Pollinated) seeds.

The company has special focus on hybrids of Paddy (Rice) which has huge potential in the market.

Apart from Paddy, the company's product portfolio includes varieties of Cotton, Maize, Sunflower, Jowar, Wheat, Bajra, Mustard, Castor and Vegetables.

The company has already successfully commercialized 101 varieties (of 23 crops) and 50 are in pipeline to be commercialized in 1-2 years.

Target has research tie ups for transgenic genes in paddy and cotton crops with Govt. of India under Public Private Partnership.

It also has tie-ups with research institutes (like ICRISAT, DRR, CSIR etc), reputed R&D houses and freelance breeders for product sourcing and exchange of technology & germplasm in order to achieve its broad-based objective of evolving versatile hybrids.

Germplasm is the Key R&D asset which is utilized in hybridization of seeds and evolving new varieties. The company has a collection of around 1500 varieties of germplasm of different crops.

Currently Target is adequately equipped with infrastructure for R&D, Seed Processing and Testing.

The company has 25 acres of farm space for carrying out research operations (3 R&D research farms). It has 3 seed processing plants having a cumulative capacity of 12 MT per hour and a cob drying facility with a capacity to process 140 MT per cycle.

The company has an established network of around 175 Distributors and over 7000 Dealers spread across 11 states in India and one each in Nepal & Bangladesh.
