A. Introduction

A child is today being highly affected by the media as their interactions with the media in their early age affects them in various ways due to visual and audio effects. News and broadcast has in the recent past brought several incidents of destructions due o the influential transmissions aired to the people. Television seems to be more relevant, prominent and a powerful learning element to the children as it is understood that a child learns best through observations. The acts of violence behaviors and other undesirable characteristics exhibited by the today's children should be categorically being blamed on the media especially, the television. The media entertainment is today exceptionally playing a critical role in development of the children morals, values and the behaviors (Aimee, 2003).

B. T.V Watching Habits

The habit of children watching TV has gradually grown and the statics are showing that this has gone beyond the parent's level of control. The today's parents are busy on their carriers failing to take their full responsibilities and concentrations on the welfare of their children's. They have left those responsibilities to the house gals thus giving the children an opportunity to explore even beyond their boundaries. The children are spending more time on the televisions watching movies, games etc rather than concentrating on books. Many Parents believes that when their children watch violent programs on the television or movies, they tend to associate this with the real life and create a perception that conflicts should be solved by physical force. This habit of violence develops in the life of the child and most of the time the child tends to use physical mean to acquire what he really want as other peaceful means fails. This habits and behavior is widely seen in places where the child teds to interact with each other especially on schools and the playgrounds. The habit has further affected the Childs performance and the relationship with his/her peers. They are poorly rated and always find themselves into trouble with their peers (Eron, L. D. 1963).

These programs also contain vogue language causing further damage on the Childs language skills. The audio content of these violent programs changes the talking habit of the child on which a child tends to develop and copy what the TV is broadcasting. They tend to make the repetition of what they hear giving limitations on communications and solving problem facing the children.

C.T.V. watching patterns and violent behavior

The watching pattern of the T.V by the children has changed over the past as many children are nowadays spending more time on the T.V than on any other activities. This pattern has affected the child's normal behaviors which are difficult to be changed in the future . According to the current statistics the programs in our T.V have over 60% violent contents. This violent broadcast affects the child's judgment which has results to both serious short and long term psychological effects ( L. A. Jason and M. Fries, 2004).

2. Research

A. Correlation between T.V. exposure and violent behavior

According to today's statistics, the length on which the child is exposed to T.V is related to the violent behaviors exhibited by the child. The violent televisions programs tend to completely change the child's psychological life giving the child difficulties in associating with others and verbally abusing the child (Eugene V Beresin, 2010).

B. Length of T.V. exposure

Regular exposure to T.V violent programs extremely affects child behavior and the altitudes putting to consideration the amount of time the child have per day. This deprives the child an opportunity to explores and learn some valuable life time lessons necessary for the child growth. In today's society, we should be keen and monitor where our children get influenced especially negatively. Belligerent and increase in violence among our children are the major effects of the T.V exposure which raises more serious and dangerous habits such as drugs addiction, sexual activities and other immoral behaviors.

The average amount of time the child is spending on the T.V is significantly rising giving the child more exposure to the T.V programs than before. This is due to increase in more sophisticated and advanced media enhancing the reliability and the ease of use to the child. The long hours of T.V exposure and the poor parents monitoring processes are the main contributors of the children violent behaviors. The regular and lengthy exposure of the T.V to the children makes the child believe that such violent incidents exactly depict the real life resulting to embroidered apprehension of violence from other children and people in the society (T. L. Cheng, R. A. Brenner etl', July 1, 2004).

C. Extent of violence in T.V. programming

The level of the violence in our television programs is rising higher with many T.V stations trying to dominate the market with the latest developments. This is due to increase in media competition on which every media Is trying to acquire a big market share thus broadcasting the programs that could attract more people regardless of age, social or economic status. According to the statistics it is almost two thirds of the aired programs has the violence content with a third of violent media programming containing a little level of violent relations. Occurrences of violence in children's programming are rising high, with a 25 average per hour (L. A. Jason & M. Fries, 2004).

D. Self-identification/association with violence

Many children become emotionally attached to the media contact which triggers the actual violence and the identification to that particular actor. They tend to identify themselves with the main characters and associate themselves with the violent incidents. This is due to the prolonged violence programs viewing by children on which they identify themselves with the most violent character to bring a perception of aggressiveness to their peer groups.

E. Aggressive behavior

The aggressive behavior found in today's child is as a result of the T.V violence due to the long exposure to the T.V. The violent programs have the underlying effect on the child behavior on which the increase in the aggressiveness enhances the child behavior of spending more time on the T.V for behavior justification. The aggressive behavior makes the child resistant to violence making him/her less concerned of the violence. Violent games also contribute to the aggressiveness in the child. Children of this character become less concerned with the schoolwork, and are more dormant as far as the extra curriculum activities and hobbies are concerned. According to Cesarone (1994) children playing the videos with the violent acts are more aggressive than the ones watching as they do the practice by playing the video. In essence the act of aggressiveness is involved in most violent occasions than the coercion on which they are committed out of annoyance and for personal benefit. These acts of aggressiveness show no pain and mercy and some goes to an extent of rewarding. This gives the children wrong perception in the real life situations as he/she tries to depict what he sees on the T.V.

F. Long-run effect on behavior

The violent, aggressive behavior and attitudes developed by the child at the early ages can remain for the rest of the child's life and even develop to the worst unless interventions are made at the early stages of the behaviors. The violent television programs has a long term effect on the child on which the child will basically grew with a violent practices and behaviors affecting the future interactions of the child with the rest of the people in the society. The child develops some inhuman behaviors and the sensitivity towards others pain decreases.

The fears developed from these violent programs may last for the long life time which makes the child mind grow into the psychological trauma. In the future there are possibility that the violence and aggressiveness in the child leads to more serious and dangerous as it brings conflicts in the adulthood between the person and the community. This further develops to crimes and major violence act in community thus the law takes its cause which is a further damage to the child's future (Oppapers, 2010).

3. Probable Solutions

Violence in the child is preventable on which the best solution is reducing the violent programs and making them unavailable to our children. It is very unfortunate that this cannot be done to the best interest of the children as violence entertainment is a very popular means of entertainment in today's generation.   The following are some of the ways violence behaviors and aggressiveness among the children can be prevented.

A. Parent monitoring

Parents should be concerned what is exposed to their children and limit the child's exposure to the violent media. They should increasingly monitor the child's access to the T.V and ensure that their child doesn't watch programs with violence content. Due to lack of attention from their parents, the children seek and involve themselves in the media entertainment to reduce the boredom. Thus parents should take their full responsibility and always be there for their children.

B. Network curbing of violent programming

The media companies should be banned from airing the programs with violent content. A rating system should be developed for children's and common programs monitoring with parental guidelines which is adequately publicized. There should be a regulation on how these programs are aired as they shouldn't conflict with the time on which the child is free. They should take steps in informing parents and guardians on the programs contents. The governments should also intervene regulate these programs in an effort of protecting the child future from violent damage.

C. Advertisers not supporting violent programming towards children

The advertisers should not support the violent programming of the violent programs in the media. They are more influential on the T.V welfare as they are the most valuable source of the media revenue thus their complaints are more effective ( Huesmann, L., Moise-Titus, J., Podolski, C., & Eron, L. D. 2003).

4. Summary and conclusion

A young child finds it hard to differentiate between fantasy and the reality thus everything exposed to the child should be monitored as it can grow to a behavior and a habits. T.V has affected the child's behaviors due to the wrong perception of the reality. The violent dramatic actions in the programs provide a model of understanding and controversy that distorts the child psychology. They develop violent practices of solving their problems and care less about others welfare.

The society should create awareness in an effort of protecting the children from the violence content on the today's T.V which is currently growing in large number. Children should be mobilized and taught the differences in the life, the real life situations and the fantasy world ( Saunders, D. J.,1993, October 27)..
