Perception can be influential on decisions that are made in business and personal issues. Perception impacts the choices that are made that may or may not have positive effects. Choices made are not only based on feeling or how a person perceives a situation, but in what manner the information is gathered. Facts that surround choice also involve how management looks at the situation. Perception is part of judging a situation and making the right decision for the individual. Perception is used in everyday living, and it provides instincts to evaluate and surmise what will be best for a situation. Perception is looking at the whole instead of a portion that creates a better guide to make rational choices.

The hiring process is based on several factors which may involve information provided such as a resume, characteristics, and perception. The candidate knows that the first impression is important and how the employer perceives him, or her. The employer is looking for certain qualifications of the candidate to make sure that the necessary experience fits the job description. This perception sets the president how the employer will perceive the candidate and determine what work ethics this person may have. “To establish a link between fairness and organizational out comes, we must consider the operation of fairness perceptions at the organizational level” (Simmons, 2003). Ethics is imperative to work relationships be based on honesty, trust, and strong work ethics. Perception knows if an employer should trust their instincts about an employee to make it a more productive work environment.

Trust is earned and worked for which should be part of the work relationship. Perception is based on trusting instincts that affects work and business relationships to make a company successful. The decisions made in real world organizations are based on trusting employee's work ethics, devotion and determination shown by the employee, and honesty on the part of the employer and employee. The goal is to be productive and make strong business choices that are beneficial to the company and employee's welfare.

When analyzing an employee's work profile, it is important to ask questions about inconsistencies and work conduct. Asking the employee questions and not making unnecessarily pre-judgments without hearing all the facts. Initially an employer may get the wrong impression depending on the persona of the employee's actions without proper questioning. Perceptions in some cases can be wrong and it is important that all facts are present before judgment is made. There should not be any shortcuts, because valuable information can be misconstrued if the proper investigation is not performed. The positive side of using a shortcut is when time is a factor and can not be avoided. Using a shortcut is trusting that a business decision will work based on the limited information received. Many times in business quick decisions have to be made and shortcuts are based on the initial feeling due to quick dead lines.

Perception and how it shapes moral and ethical decisions is based on exposure and knowledge. Ethical work habits are learned through company procedure and rules in addition to having a natural feeling to make right choices that are based strictly on information provided, and not by any other means. Perception is also based on morals and moral obligation to co-workers and upper management. Morals are inherited from exposure to environment and upbringing. Obtaining good work ethics is partially from having good morals that drive a person to perform with integrity. In addition to having good morals it is perception that drives feeling and instinct to make the right choice. Perception is how someone feels and knowing right from wrong information. “After an individual recognizes the issue at hand has moral ramifications the degree of importance of the issues is expected to influence his or her judgment as to what constitutes behavior under the circumstances” (Russell, 2008). Perception is about making the right choice based on the right information. Influential means can create obstacles, but it is about stepping away and gathering the necessary information to make a logical choice.

Although, perception is a necessary tool, it can not be incorporated alone. There are factors in addition to perception that make good business choices. An employer has to develop a work atmosphere that promotes good work ethics, honesty, and critical thinking skills that promotes good business ethics. Perception is how one looks at a situation and what steps are taken to address the matter that is beneficial. Promoting good work ethics and morals help set the tone of the environment and establish protocols that will enforce business policies. Perception is gathering the facts and making a good choice that are beneficial to the welfare of the company and its workers. Creating good work ethics that help ensure the quality and performance of the employees which can be advantageous to the company's needs. “By seeking to understand the degree to which employees' perceptions of their team leader influence their individual ethical decision making, we seek to enrich our knowledge of how employee ethical behavior is developed”(White,2008). Understanding employees is imperative in placing and matching work abilities to work related task that are consistent. Shortcuts may not always have positive effects there are times it can have a negative effect if handle irrationally. Perceptive shortcuts are not allowing the individual to evaluate the situation properly and can easily create bad choices. Time restrictions will promote fast thinking and unavoidable shortcuts but quick perception can have a positive impact. Overall, perception is instilled in people to evaluate, question, and use an internal instinct to make choices. Perception is learned through exposure to situations whether positive or negative. Several people can see the same scenario but it is how the individual will perceive the situation that makes it different.
