1.1. Skill is a very essential thing in life, discovering ones skills can play crucial part in life, there is a general skill that is believed to be possessed by each and every one, which is the ability to communicate in one's mother tongue; it is a skill that is naturally possessed. (ArticlesBase 2009) (Scheng1 2009)

Some specific skills are required in our day to day activities, Communication skill happens to be a major one, because it helps in our daily activities, for example people coming to the United Kingdom for the first time from a non-speaking English country will face difficulty right from inception.

Skill can be defined in different manners, it can be said to be an ability someone acquired through training and can also be known as a solution producing ability to some problem,

This can be divided into two parts namely general and specific skills respectively.

1.1.1 General skills can be said to be the ones that contribute to our day to day activities, they are said to be skills that we can't do without daily.

1.1.2 Specific skills can be said to be the specific ones possessed, this skills actually make someone a unique figure among others (for instance a networker working in a bank dealing with the network issues, the skill he/she possessed makes he/she unique and different from the cashers who has got skills in accounting or other fields).

1.2 Transferrable skills are understood to be a skill that's been possessed and easily transferred across two majors. (Hansen 2010)

1.2.1 Leadership and management can be said to be a transferrable skills.

In an organisation a good leadership skill is required of the manager or who so ever manages the organisation, the manager must be able to lead the team to greater height not astray, the leadership role should be transferred to the team to make each and every one take responsibilities of what is meant to be done,

1.2.2 The management aspect is also essential due to the fact that a bad management will never be tolerated by an organisation; someone need to acquire this over a period of time and should be able to transfer it.

Taking me for a case study, working in a construction firm back home was very challenging, at some point I was made a team leader and managing people from different background was difficult initially, but due to the fact that have got some leadership quality which initially made me to become a team leader, I was able to transfer it to the organisation, getting things done on time was a major priority, involving myself in activities made the entire staff involve themselves efficiently and in no time, they all learn to work to time.

In the management aspect, time management was priorities, getting to work 15minutes before others was a key role that motivated others to turn up early, no one want to come to the office before time and that was a plus for the management.

Been able to transfer my skills that do have been acquired over a period of time, through work experience to the company was a plus for the company and was rapidly promoted in no time.

A good leader must possess the management skills to make a complete packaging; a great leader with no management skill is a good as useless.

Communication skills can also be said to be a transferrable skill believing that a good communication in an organisation is essential for a smooth ride, considering a manager that wants to train some new staffs and trying to impact the knowledge and ideal of the work on them, this will have to be done through communication. Communication plays a very vital role in an organisation.

1.4 It is very essential to have a good transferrable skill, due to the fact that in the process of life we all have skills that is unique to each and every individual, only that some don't realise it and even if we discover and we are unable to translate or transfer it then we don't worth to possess it, a tutor with no transferable skills (i.e. communication) can never impart knowledge on his students, then the tutor might risk been out of job early or made redundant, the tutor must be able to communicate in different ways through words of mouth, demonstration and other ways.

Transferrable skill make life easier in some organisations, if the manager in the organisation possess a good management skill, very few stones or known will be left on turn, daily activities will be carried out and there will be a lot of process carried out in no time.

Ability to communicate this across this to others is what can't be left out, we have some people with the skill and cannot transfer it across to others, then this to them can't be considered as a transferrable skill, we should be able to impact knowledge on others with the little we know, taking myself as a case study, formatting and re-installing operating system on computers is one of the skills acquired over a period of time and this skill make me a unique figure among my novice mates and cousins, but considering the fact the skill was transferred on to few that are interested to know it as well over a period of time and some of them has gone extra miles to know better and some even make their living from it, then this can be considered to be a transferrable skill (i.e. a knowledge acquired and a knowledge transferred)

1.3. Believing the fact that skills is very essential, various aspect has been looked into, the fact that some specific skill are required by someone to make a difference has been proven to be true through various organisations, for instance an organisation that deals with money matters without an accountant is as useless s nothing, because they need an accountant to account for each and every penny and the accountant must possess an accounting skills to be able to fit in for the job and it will normally be acquired over a period of time and this skill is specific and unique to the owner, general skills that help in our daily activities are also proven to be essential, the fact that we make a cup of coffee, tea or any other thing else is a general skill that helps in daily activities.

Transferable skill has been proven as well due to the fact that a good and quality organisation need a manager or someone that can transfer his/her skills in helping the development of the company, management and leadership skill need to be translated well so as not to get confused, leadership skill helps a lot, it put the confidence in the staff and makes the staff feel free around there leader. (ArticlesBase 2009)

1.5. Working in an organisation back home, there were some skill required by the organisation which were missing from my curriculum vitae, it was a construction firm and there where different backgrounds in the organisation, communicating with the senior constructing manager one on one was not easy due to the fact that he was from a non-English speaking country and the other staffs were made to undergo training before my arrival in the company and the fact that the training is a bit time wasting and money consumption as well, training was not offered for me, so information was passed to me through one of the secretaries, but with time he managed to teach me the basic part of the language and communication was a bit easy, in other words he was able to transfer his skill to me and others, so it's very important to be able to transfer ones skills. Due to that fact that skills can be transferred, some organisation saves a lot of money on workshops and training of their staffs, all they do is allow their staffs acquire the skill over a period of time i.e. learn from the once that knows what to do.

TASK 2

This activity involves 3 people in the group and it's a website design for HND Computing

2.1 A group work can be highly demanding. Working in a group can be very hard and at the same time can be as easy as ever, tolerance is highly required of a person that wants to work in a group, you need to have the skill to be able to tolerate others at some point in time, because there will be some people in the group who will want to frustrate your effort and will contribute less to the group activity.

In a group you have to be ready for the task, ability to contribute your own quota to the group activity and other activities is highly required of you, you should be able to motivate others into completing the task at hand and also be a good listener in other to gain from others saying.

2.2 Working in a group with my group mates was an interesting experience, the group consist of 3 members and the task choosing was carried out effectively and easy, we were able to contain each other's ups and downs and listen to each other's contribution, in deciding the task, ideas where brought to table and we were able to criticize each other's opinion with genuine reasons and at the final stage, a decision was make and a task was choosing.

2.3 Individually, working can be convenient to a point off doing a task at your leisure time, I have developed a learning style over a period of time, I believe task are done according to requirement and don't like leaving task to the final end to avoid rushing and incompleteness, if a task is not done to time, it might lead to not been able to fulfil the requirement of the task.

So when the task to work with a group was brought forward, I was able to motivate my group members to get it started immediately to be able to meet the date required of the tsk to be completed.

We were able to communicate easily and help each other with the resources required to complete the task, due to all this the task was completed in no time and it was a success.

2.4 In completing the task, we need each other's opinion and idea, so we have to depend on each other for effective completeness, the task given was critically looked into and task was given to each and every member of the group to meet the deadline of completion, if the task was to be carried out by one member of the team them possibility of delay should be expected because of the time given.

Resources were gathered by each and every member of the group, ideas were utilised and implemented.

2.5 In completing the task (building a website for HND Computing), a lot of avenues were explored and a lot of ideas and opinions where brought to table.

Bearing in mind that the task will have different themes and things to consider, all the avenues involved where discussed and agreement were reached.

The colour, the sidebar position, number of pages, information that will be on display, pictures, software to be use and the facility for disable people were all discussed.

Below is a summary of the things discussed;

2.5.1 Deciding what the colour should be, each of use brought forward a colour that came to our mind and that we think is the best, Noorjahan said colour blue will be ok, Zeeshan went for black why Ayodeji choose white, after a brief discussion and checking the advantage and disadvantage of the colours and the effect they will have on the website, we all agreed to go for black which was Zeeshan's idea.

2.5.2 Deciding the position of the taskbar on the web pages, Noorjahan choose the top, Zeeshan choose the side and Ayodeji choose the bottom, considering the effect and difficulty that might be encounter by the user of the webpages, the top was choosing as the position of the taskbar and this was the idea of Noorjahan.

2.5.3 Deciding how many pages to be included in the website, considering the fact that the more the pages you have on the website, the more bored the user will get, so in each case, information that will be contained on each pages was considered, while Noorjahan said 6 pages, Zeeshan said 3 pages and Ayodeji said 4 pages, after putting all the facts that was stated into consideration and looking at the information at hand for the website, we decided to go for 3 pages which was the idea of Zeeshan.

2.5.4 Deciding the graphical pictures that will be on the site, in this aspect, a lot of argument occurred, Noorjahan choose that we should have the picture of the students in the college on the site, Zeeshan said we should have educational pictures on it and Ayodeji said we should put the pictures of student on trip on it. Considering the fact that the website is for HND Computing, we cannot have the pictures of all the students in the college on it so in this case Noorjahan's idea was nullified, on Ayodeji's side of view, it was a good idea that was brought forward, but considering the fact that HND Computing students has not gone for a trip so the idea was struck out as well, so considering the fact that HND Computing is an educational program the educational picture idea brought forward by Zeeshan was considered and agreed on.

2.5.5 Deciding the information the site will contain, Noorjahan choose course details, Zeeshan went for general information and Ayodeji choose information about the college, considering the fact that course details alone won't be able to contain a side with 3 pages, Noorjahan's idea was not considered, Zeeshan's idea for general information didn't materialize due to the fact that the site is for HND Computing, Ayodeji's idea for information about the college was agreed on due to the fact that it will contain the course details and all other information required.

2.5.6 Deciding the software to use, Noorjahan choose FrontPage, Zeeshan choose notepad and Ayodeji choose CS5, due to the fact that FrontPage and notepad required a lot of code to be written for the site and it's not easy to use, Noorjahan & Zeeshan's idea was not implemented and the fact that in CS5 websites can be designed from the beginning to the end without writing a single code and it is very easy to use, Ayodeji's idea was agreed on and was implemented.

2.5.7 Deciding on maybe to add facilities for disabled people or not, Zeeshan & Ayodeji said no, but considering the fact that it's an online facility and visually impaired people will want to access the site, so Noorjahan's opinion was implemented.

Considering the activity in the group and the success, it was a very good experience and the group was able to reach agreement with ease, due to proper consideration and tolerance.

2.5 In completing the task (building a website for HND Computing), a lot of avenues were explored and a lot of ideas and opinions where brought to table.

Bearing in mind that the task will have different themes and things to consider, we decided to give ourselves an alphabetical identification i.e. A, B, C representing each of the three of us in the group, all the avenues involved where discussed and agreement were reached.

The colour, the sidebar position, number of pages, information that will be on display, pictures, software to be use and the facility for disable people were all discussed.

Below is a summary of the things discussed;

2.5.1 Deciding what the colour should be, each of use brought forward a colour that came to our mind and that we think is the best, A said colour blue will be ok, B went for black why C choose white, after a brief discussion and checking the advantage and disadvantage of the colours and the effect they will have on the website, we all agreed to go for black which was B's idea.

2.5.2 Deciding the position of the taskbar on the web pages, A choose the top, B choose the side and C choose the bottom, considering the effect and difficulty that might be encounter by the user of the webpages, the top was choosing as the position of the taskbar and this was the idea of A.

2.5.3 Deciding how many pages to be included in the website, considering the fact that the more the pages you have on the website, the more bored the user will get, so in each case, information that will be contained on each pages was considered, while A said 6 pages, B said 3 pages and C said 4 pages, after putting all the facts that was stated into consideration and looking at the information at hand for the website, we decided to go for 3 pages which was the idea of B.

2.5.4 Deciding the graphical pictures that will be on the site, in this aspect, a lot of argument occurred, A choose that we should have the picture of the students in the college on the site, B said we should have educational pictures on it and C said we should put the pictures of student on trip on it. Considering the fact that the website is for HND Computing, we cannot have the pictures of all the students in the college on it so in this case A's idea was nullified, on C's side of view, it was a good idea that was brought forward, but considering the fact that HND Computing students has not gone for a trip so the idea was struck out as well, so considering the fact that HND Computing is an educational program the educational picture idea brought forward by B was considered and agreed on.

2.5.5 Deciding the information the site will contain, A choose course details, B went for general information and C choose information about the college, considering the fact that course details alone won't be able to contain a side with 3 pages, A's idea was not considered, B's idea for general information didn't materialize due to the fact that the site is for HND Computing, C's idea for information about the college was agreed on due to the fact that it will contain the course details and all other information required.

2.5.6 Deciding the software to use, A choose FrontPage, B choose notepad and C choose CS5, due to the fact that FrontPage and notepad required a lot of code to be written for the site and it's not easy to use, A &B's idea was not implemented and the fact that in CS5 websites can be designed from the beginning to the end without writing a single code and it is very easy to use, C's idea was agreed on and was implemented.

2.5.7 Deciding on maybe to add facilities for disabled people or not, B&C said no, but considering the fact that it's an online facility and visually impaired people will want to access the site, so A's opinion was implemented.

Considering the activity in the group and the success, it was a very good experience and the group was able to reach agreement with ease, due to proper consideration and tolerance.

TASK 3

3.1 Identifying the problem in the organisation is the main issue to be looked into because without identifying it, there will be no guide to proper solution.

The main problem that was identified during my time in the construction company was a management problem; the company lacked a management concept in terms of organisation and schedule planning. In the organisation, being a construction company, workers are not been given proper training regarding the health and safety issues, the rotation of labourers are not properly planned in order to give each and every labourer day offs to rest and feel refreshed for the job, breaks of the workers are not well planned, contracts are bided for regardless of the percentage of work done on the on-going contract.

This entire problem combined together and makes the company to lose potential workers and lose profits on delayed contracts.

3.1.1 Due to all the problems analysed, a creative thinking needs to be applied;

The fact that the labourers should be given adequate time off to make them feel refreshed and ready for consistency purpose

Rotation has to be done properly, because in an organisation there are some members of the staff that are natural motivators, so in doing the rotation procedure this people must be involved in each groups.

Workers must be given adequate health and safety training during the induction and renewed as at and when due.

Percentage of the work done should be considered before venturing into another bid for a new contract.

3.2 Considering the fact that the labourers are working on man power supported by little help of machines, this justified the fact that they need adequate rest in order not to breakdown when needed most.

The breaks needed might be given as at and when the worker required for one due to the fact that the worker is the one that can analyse his or her self in this type of situation.

The rotation part is very essential, because if there is a motivation a group the job will be well done, the fact that we've got some lazy bunch of workers in the group might lead to jobs been delayed.

Motivators can also be included in major job groups and the less prioritized job left with trusted workers to be looked after.

Health and safety training is very essential an organisation in order to avoid unnecessary accident or misappropriate use of equipment's or machine, with the help of this training at inception, workers will be able to know how to work under a safe environment, this is believed to safe the company from paying lots of money for uncalled for accident caused by ignorance.

Considering the fact that the percentage of the on-going contract really matters and may have a side effect on a new contract, the percentage of work done must be above 70% before planning to take up another contract, because this will delay productivity of the old one and this may lead to jeopardising reputation of the company if contract are not completed to time as promised.

Contracts can also be view on availability of resources to the completion, before venturing into another one, if the resources for completion of a contract are available, then the company might venture into another one.

3.3 Identifying the problem, the company was closely watched and the lapses were studied to know where things are not going on properly.

The solutions were divided in the stages with the fact that there is a need for changes and this will only come with time.

The work force was monitored closely and the in-appropriate rotation was noticed as well, so believing in the fact that appropriate rotation will help in the improvement of the workforce, the rotation aspect was suggested and with the help of this, the motivators will be able to motivate others to work and increase production, this fact has been clearly justified.

Taking the days-off aspect into account, there was a worker that worked for Nine (9) straight days and broke down for Eleven (11) days, due to this he could not work and there was less man power to do the job which lead to a two (2) days delay before been able to get an emergency back-up to cover for him. Considering this fact, this point was clearly justified.

The health and safety issue, been a victim of a minor accident, due to the fact that the health and safety training was not giving to me in the cause of joining the company, I believe this aspect needs to be considered, some workers don't have the knowledge of what to look out for before starting the day job, what to test, what to do, they just start their daily activities ignorantly, due to this, this point needs to be addressed.

3.4 Giving the workers appropriate days off will solve the problem of the workers breaking down and having a lengthily day off due to stress, this will help them to be physically and mentally ready for the job at hand and this will reduce the cost of bringing in an emergency or temporary back up to do their job.

Motivators in each group during rotation brings out productivity, due to the fact that in a group if they are full of lazy bunch of people, there will be no productivity as at and when due and this will make job not to go according to plan. The job meant to be completed in two (2) weeks, might not be completed in five (5) weeks, but with the help of the motivator, the job will be on the speedy edge, because the motivator will be able to push the workers towards the right direction. So a motivator must be included in each group.

Health and safety training must be offered during the induction process, this will help the individual to know what to look out for on a daily basis and what to do to avoid unwanted or uncalled for accident, this will help the company to save money on unwanted accident and delay that may be caused due to site accident will be avoided.

TASK 4

4.1

4.2 During the course of this plan, there are problems that are foreseen to arise and there are expected limitations as well, but there is a well-planned structure that is in place to help minimise it.

4.2.1 The main aspect that may arise is down to financial issue, which might leads to the limitation of the suppose dream, because during the process of the growth plan, money will be required to progress in my study and to achieve this, a savings plan has been in place over the years and this will be a continuous process and this plan is then to restrict (or minimise) me from some social activities (like clubbing, surfing and others), but this is just for the limited growth period.

4.2.2 Limited access to resources was also considered, which might lead to an unsettled mind and lack of concentration, in this aspect the plan is to try as much as possible to put myself into a position that I will be able to utilise the limited resources available and maximise it to the fullest.

4.2.3 Recession aspect was not left out, in a case where-by recession occurs, which may lead to the company retrenching people or closing down due to financial problem, which may lead to lack of finance and others, I am investing in some other businesses (like Forex) that will help me finance my academics to the end and be able to secure a better job.

4.3 Using a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis to analyse myself. Below is the result:

Key; 10 represent the highest and 1 the lowest.

4.4 In preparing the documents, a lot of aspect was put into consideration, like the liable limitations and others.

There is a lot of commitment involved in achieving the goals in the set time, the working experience aspect is very essential, in order to be able to get promoted or better job as at and when due.

Education is an essential part of life to add value to someone's life, like the saying goes that "No knowledge is lost", so the education aspect is more important as well.

The personal characteristics has to be considered has well, which was done, in order to achieve this goal, I have to be self-disciplined, be able to work under pressure, be creative and others, ability to do rational thinking is also required of me due to the nature of my job.

Making good contacts is very essential as well in order to be able to explore opportunities and so on.
