I interviewed two CEOs. Timothy D. Cook, the CEO of Apple Inc. and Indra Nooyi, the CEO of PepsiCo. Both these people are well known for the job they are doing in these multi-national companies. What I learnt from them is that if a person shows devotion towards his studies and then towards his work, he can have a bright future. Tim Cook did his bachelor's in Industrial engineering and M.B.A from Dukes University's Fuqua School of Business. Being a very talented person he earned the title of Fuqua Scholar. He worked in IBM, Intelligent Electronic and Compaq Computers before he started working for Apple Inc. He had an outstanding resume and work experience of almost 25 years. Presently, he is showing his devotion towards the progress of the Apple Inc. which is a very great and a well known firm, providing a friendly environment to its employees. While Indra Nooyi, the CEO of PepsiCo got her Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from Madras Christian College and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. She worked as a product manager at Johnson & Johnson and textile firm Mettur Beardsell. She did her Master's degree in Public and Private Management from Yale School of Management. Then she worked with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Motorola and Asea Brown Boveri. And then she joined PepsiCo.

The typical workday of a person in Apple Inc. is coming to his job, work with something new and then go home. The best about working at Apple Inc. is that it's a technological firm, and respected a lot by the communities all over the world. The typical workday of a person at PepsiCo somehow differs from Apple Inc. as it demands a lot of attention and devotion towards the assigned job. People working at PepsiCo polish their skills every day. The company holds conferences and meeting almost every month so that they can get in touch with the problems their employees are facing.

If I have an excellent resume and work experience and a degree in engineering and I know a lot about my field then I can be hired by Apple Inc. Because it's a technological firm and if my area of expertise is somehow related to technology then I can join this company. Both companies demand an excellent resume and a very good record and information about the field. Both companies offer training program for their newly hired employees. And once they are trained enough and are set according to the code of the company they are assigned some work. A major in engineering subjects can be good for both companies. A management major degree can also help working in both companies as they compete internationally.

The one thing about this occupation that appeals me is that a person can learn a lot from it. He has to take big decisions and has to think out of the box to solve all the problems and minimize the errors. Apple Inc. competes in three main digital media markets: personal computers, mobile communication devices, music devices and services. The mobile communications industry is highly competitive with several large, well-funded, and experienced competitors. Apple's music products and services face competition from other companies promoting their own digital music and content products and services. Apple Inc. offers a diverse range of products. And there are companies competing with Apple Inc. according to their field. Its competitors are companies like Dell, Alienware, Microsoft, Samsung etc. While Apple Inc. is fighting with their competitors, it also offers a wide variety of technological products to its customers. PepsiCo also has its competitors around the world. It's a food and beverage company so all other well known companies are its competitors like Coca-Cola etc. One thing I liked about PepsiCo is that it takes care of the environmental pollution as well as the employers. People in both organizations seem to work happily, because they offer research, a wide variety, invention, a friendly environment for their employees. They do a good job of making sure that employee skills are not wasted and that people properly apply themselves to the work they are assigned. There are constant opportunities to try new things and move to different departments.

Doing research, a person can either go to an IT field or can do Engineering if he wants to do a scientific or inventive work at Apple Inc. or he can go for the Management degree if he wants to work in the HR or Management department in PepsiCo. Being part of Apple Inc. demands thinking out of the box. Apple Inc. is also known for strictly enforcing accountability. Employees at both firms are specialists who are not exposed to the functions outside their area of expertise. This means having best-in-class employees in every role.

Under the leadership of Tim Cook, Apple Inc. has developed an extremely efficient and effective supply chain. While Indra Nooyi has also guided PepsiCo so it can be known as a good company ethically and commercially. She said herself that her objective after becoming the CEO was to embrace a direction that indicates performance. At Apple Inc., they say that their most important resource and their soul is their people, and they stand by that. This means that Apple also takes care of their employees. Working at Apple Inc. would be a very fine thing as it's a multi-national company providing a good amount of salary to those who work whole heartedly.

Most of the work at Apple Inc. and PepsiCo is indoors. There are laboratories where engineers and scientist work on projects while the manufacturing of products is done by machines. Because they need to take care of the minute details of the product, and they can't do it by hand, so there are machines which provide less chances of errors and a quality product for its customers.

My interest does not differ from the working environment or the career at Apple Inc. or PepsiCo, as the era in which we are living is totally based on technology. As said by the CEO of Apple Inc. himself, this field is never going to end, there is always something new to work and introduce. So if a person needs to have a career, it suits well; because choosing the right career can help for the betterment and progress of a person. If a person chooses a field that has an end after some years then there won't be much to make progress and there won't be something new to invent. So choosing a field which has a vast variety of disciplines can help a person live a successful life.

PepsiCo is providing a very vast variety of products so people who get hired there need to have a very outstanding resume. They should have all the information regarding their field. It means that the company demands experts in every field. They offer training to their new recruits. But they demand excellent attention towards the work assigned to the new employees. A person can get promoted if he is working whole heartedly. Means if he is taking care of all the aspects of the work assigned to him and he minimizes the problems while making few mistakes. This is important at Apple too, but doing things the right way, doing what is in the best interest of the company and the customer is the only way to achieve long term success.

What I learned from interviewing both CEO's is that every work demands full attention. If you cannot give attention to the work assigned to you, there will be some errors and the top management won't be happy from you and you won't be making progress in the field. The industry or a company totally relies on its employees. If they are giving their full attention towards the firm then the company can make progress. All the employees have to work together. Having a top management job provides a better salary but demands a proactive person. You have to foresee the future before its going to happen. Only then a company can stand and can be known for quality products.

What I came to learn about myself is that if I choose to go to an engineering firm I should have an excellent record. I should work hard there and behave as a part of that organization. Both the CEO's have faced difficulties in running the company but what they have in common is that they are giving their full attention to their company and their work. They make big decisions everyday and take care of their employees as well. They have a strong mind, so if a person is suppose to lead a company he needs to have a strong heart and a strong mind, and above all he needs to have a good leading power. He should listen to his employees and should take steps according to the needs of the company. Only then he can secure his job and his future.
