I am IT Manager for a multinational company which sells office equipment to small businesses. The company has its headquarters in Geneva Switzerlang and has regional offices in Hanoi (Vietnam),Jakarta(Indonesia),Doha(Qatar) and Monteral(Canada). He gave me a budget availbale of £10000 to purchase equipment for his team. The problem that I must solve is how I spend this money to get the best result.

Computing Equipment For Sales Teams

1.Plan

The company which sells office equipment to small businesses. The company has its headquater in Geneva(Switzerland) and has regional offices in Honi (Vietnam),Jakarta(Indonesia),Doha(Qatar) and Montreal (Canada). The Company's Sale Director ,who is a key member of the senior management team, has approached me with a technical problem. As I am IT Manager,to Solve the peoblem,First find the portable computing devices on internet which will look more impressive to prospective customers.Second , to find the features of portable computing devices and prices which can meet the limited budget.Third,to find different equipment in different places .

For solving this problem, we have to define problems and the scope of the problems. And also identify the selection criteria for the solutions such as prices, performance. After then, we have to evaluate the solutions using by making ranks for each solution opposing to the selection criteria that we have defined earlier. And finally, we have to choose the solution that have the suitable result in the process of selection.

2.a Problem definitation

Albert Einstein went so far as to say that "the formulation of a problem is often more essential than its solution"! Sometimes, exploratory research is required to help in the formulation of the research problem.

This is a fairly vague statement and should have been followed up with a much more precise research question (in question format) or problem statement (a re-wording of the research question into a statement format). Indeed, the research question could have been broken down further, into subproblems. it is important to inform the reader about the breadth or scope of the study.

All research is based on a set of assumptions or factors that are presumed to be true and valid.

In formal research, the researcher will provide an educated guess regarding the outcome of the study, called hypothesis

As a problem definitation, he wants the sales team to be equipped with portable computing devices which will look more impressive to be prospective customers. He want the latest model and a budget available of £10,000 to purchase equipment. And also need to research the cost of different equipment in different places. So I have to find many different equipment in many places and the coast are within £10000.

2.b Selection criteria

The importance of developing good selection criteria cannot be underestimated. The applicants you will attract will be determined to a large extent by the choice of selection criteria. For this reason, it is crucial that the criteria accurately reflect the position and will attract a sufficiently wide pool of applicants.

We need to determine what are selection criteria, what has changed in developing selection criteria and key words used in selection criteria when defining selection criteria.

And we also have to develop effective selection criteria, identify what constitutes good selection criteria and identify the reason for including any of the core public sector principles.

C. Process of Selection

The evaluation process can be divided into six stages:

defining the 'ideal' solution

eliminating unviable solutions, ie those which do not meet the constraints

evaluating the remaining solutions against the results required

assessing the risks associated with the 'best' solution and, if acceptable

making the decision.

The criteria of effectiveness which you defined to guide your search for solutions are inadequate to make an effective evaluation. Each solution may differ slightly or radically in the way and the extent to which it achieves your various goals. To be able to evaluate these effectively' you need to construct a model of the ideal solution against which to measure them.
