Maxis Bhd chief marketing officer Matthew Willsher says the company is committed to technology and in this regard has introduced advanced mobile devices, affordable data packages and social networking applications that enable communications through the most functional new media channels.
For example, Maxis' BlackBerry service packages allow users to enjoy a full range of services from high-security e-mail to social messaging functions. Late last year, Maxis was also the first communications service provider in Malaysia to provide a full range of mobile services to the top three Social Networking Services (SNS) in Malaysia, namely Facebook, Twitter and Friendster. Apart of this, the new service, 'fb2mobile', connects Maxis subscribers to Facebook and Twitter via SMS and MMS. Maxis had previously launched the Friendster Alert service in May 2009, allowing subscribers to receive updates on their Friendster account via SMS,"
Besides this, Maxis provides a variety of mobile communication products and services. They offer prepaid call plans, monthly subscription plans, global roaming, MMS, WAP (over both GSM and GPRS), Residential Fixed Line services, Broadband Internet plans, and as of early 2005, 3G services to both pre-paid and subscription customers.

For business customers, Maxis offer VSAT services (satellite based communications) and BlackBerry based mobile services besides regular services. Maxis also provides an online Music store for its customers to download multimedia content.
Maxis' most popular service is its pre-paid brand, which currently serves over 6.3 million customers in Malaysia. They are currently heavily promoting a new IDD 132 service, which offers discounted calls to landlines in selected countries, at a rate of 20 sen (roughly 6 US cents) per minute which is, at certain times for many subscribers, even cheaper than a local call.
Maxis is currently involved in a price war with its competitors (particularly DiGi) in the pre-paid SIM market which has driven its Hotlink starter pack prices down to RM 6 (about USD$1.2).
There are several high profile celebrities who have signed on as spokespersons for Maxis, including big names such as Siti Nurhaliza, all the Akademi Fantasia's stars, along with many other local celebrities.
It is allegedly linked to some content providers that is siphoning money out of the users' pocket. As the evidence could only be found in monthly bill's statement, it is reluctant to provide such service for its prepaid customers. Such intent is unknown for all.
For pricing Structure, Maxis Communications Bhd's prepaid unit Hotlink has came up with new pricing structure on Tuesday, April 14, 2009
Basically, if customer wants normal Basic Plan, they will have to pay 33/39 sen a minute, at 30 second block. Quite competitive with what others are offering. If they want 33/35 sen for the first minute, and 25/28 sen for the second minute. They need to sign up to the Extra plan. However, it will be charged per 60-second block.
IF customers are a student, with a valid student ID of course, then you will be eligible for the Youth Club plan. 12/15 sen a minute, 1/5 sen an SMS. At previous, there were people who may not happy with Hotlink's previous price plans. Before this new plan, they were offering 33 sen a minute (lowest in the industry), however, they charged it at per-60-second blocks.
