TEL-AVIV (YAFFO) - It all started in 1909 when Tel-Aviv was first founded. Tel-Aviv is a city in Israel that was founded on land that was bought from Bedouins which was north of Jaffa/Yaffo. The name Tel-Aviv was later adopted on May 11, 1910.

Tel-Aviv was planned to be a European- style with wide boulevards and streets. Tel-Aviv's population is always increasing and decreasing, but today's population of Tel-Aviv is about 390,400.Tel-Aviv has so many attractions that attract more tourists that come and visit every year.Tel-Aviv is located on the Israeli Mediterranean coastal plane and in other words north of Jaffa . It is on land that used to be sand dunes but still has poor fertility.

Over time the land has been flattened and is now notable for the bluffs above the Mediterranean coastline and the Yarkon river mouth. Tel-Aviv is 37 miles northwest of Jerusalem and 56 miles south of the northern port of another city called Haifa.Tel-Aviv has a delightful Mediterranean climate with hot summers, pleasant springs, autumns and, cool breezy winters. During the summers many people like to come to the Mediterranean sea and other beaches such as Metzitzim beach.

On north side of the Metzitzim beach there is a basketball course, besides that, it is one of the coolest beaches in Tel-Aviv. Due to the fact that the Mediterranean Sea is near by Tel-Aviv winters can get very cold, but the humidity gets pretty high too. Winter temperatures in Tel-Aviv is usually between 10' C to 15' C and summers are about 90'F.The main access route to Tel-Aviv is highway 20. Highway 20 is located in Gush Dan, which is located in a metropolitan where there are some areas from Tel Aviv and some areas form other central districts in Israel . When driving south of highway 20, it gives access to highway 1, which leads to Ben-Gurrion International Airport and Jerusalem. Within the Tel-Aviv area, the main routes are King George Street, Allenby Street, Ibn Gabirol street, Dizengoff street, Rothschild street and in Yaffo the main route is Jerusalem boulevard. Tel-Aviv municipality is trying to encourage the use of bicycles and is aiming to open about 100 bicycle stations to serve 46.0 miles of bicycle path, but this could create a problem for the tourist because the buses and cars are the ones who obviously help them get across from everywhere and Tel-Aviv can start to loose a-lot of money if tourist don't come and a reason for that to happen is because of there transportation. Tel-Aviv has four train stations that stop from north to south. There is a central bus station south of the city in Tel-Aviv. Approximately a little over a million people travel on the train from cities around Tel-Aviv in order to get to Tel-Aviv.

The three largest newspapers in Israel where published in Tel-Aviv. Tabloid Yedioth Ahronoth is Israel's most widely circulated newspaper. Israel's second most popular tabloid is Maariv, which is also published in Tel Aviv. Haaretz, is Israel's most popular broadsheet.“ Israel post” and “Israeli” are more recent then the others and have been made in the city too. Many radio stations cover the Tel-Aviv area. To many tourists, the news paper and media is very important because it tells them the updates and places to see and go to.Tel-Aviv attracts more than two million tourists because of their Mediterranean Sea. The Mediterranean Sea is very unique and special because of its climate and because it is one of the biggest, cleanest, nicest seas in Israel . .Tel-Aviv's largest park is “Park Ha Yarkon. The thing that many people love about park ha Yarkon is that it is big and filled with wonderful things to do such as feed the ducks, play on the playground, go mini golfing, get bikes to ride and even get pony rides. Tel-Aviv has a tour bus that offers different languages for the people that come from different states, cities and countries.Tel-Aviv has many museums, culture sights, shopping centers, entertainment districts and much more. Tel-Aviv has been called the city that never sleeps because of its nightlife and 24 hour culture. Tel-Aviv is filled with many nightclubs and bars. Nightlife is especially active around the beach front. It has many different restaurants that have many types of food, including sushi, in fact, there are more than 100 sushi restaurants in the Tel-Aviv area.

An Italian restaurant in the city was deemed to be the best Italian restaurant outside of Italy by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture. Tel-Aviv restaurants also include some of Israel 's traditional foods like Shoarma and Falafel. Shoarma is a type of sandwich that is usually made from shaved chicken or beef. Just like a taco, Falafel is made from beans ball shaped patties or meatballs with a “dressing” of humus.Every country or state has their own way of making money and have there own way on how to build an economy, but Tel-Aviv is most unique because of its Mediterranean Sea and technical and performing arts. The Mediterranean Sea is a place were anyone at any age can sit, play and have fun. Since Tel-Aviv was built on sand dunes, farming was very hard, so they couldn't build an economy off of that. Many people from around the world come to visit the Mediterranean sea.One of the things Tel-Aviv is most specialized for is for there arts and theatre.Eighteen out of thirty-five of Israel's performing arts and theatres are located in Tel-Aviv. The Israeli opera is located in Tel-Aviv's performing arts center. 

The Heichal Hatarbut is Tel-Avivs largest theatre. Inside the auditorium it is filled with more than 3,000 seats. Performances of opera are held daily in Tel-Aviv. Many famous classical conductors have played on the Tel-Aviv stages such as Leonard Bernstein and Isaac Stern. Tel-Aviv's largest museum is called “Yad Va Shem”, which talks about the holocaust. Many historians come to see that museum. Tourists not only come and see the plays but are often very interested in most of Tel-Aviv's museums.Many sports teams are located in Tel-Aviv, including a world class basketball team. In 1906 Maccabee sports club was founded and now has more then 10 sports that have been played. Maccabee sports club has won many different medals and titles for all the sports but mostly for basketball. Hapel sports club has more than 11 sport clubs to play at, it includes foot ball and a men and women kayaking club.

Shishshon Tel-Aviv and Beitar Tel-Aviv are other football clubs in the top division. In the year 2000 both teams (Beitar and Shishshon) have been put together in order to make one team called Beitar/Shishshon.For a four year term, a 31-member city council is elected to govern Tel-Aviv.At the age of eighteen, citizens of Tel-Aviv are able to vote, but they must have at least a one year residence in Israel in order to do so. At Rabin Square the Tel-Aviv city hall is located. In 2008 Ron Huldai was elected as the mayor of Tel-Aviv. He had been in office since 1998. For nineteen years, Shlomo Lahat was in office, and that was the longest term to be in office for the city of Tel-Aviv . From 1925-1927 David Bloch was in office, and that was the shortest term for Tel-Aviv. Shlomo Lahat served in the Israel defense forces. As a young man David had emotional and social problems, but as he got older he grew out of it.Tel-Aviv has many schools, colleges and universities. About 51,359 attend school in Tel-Aviv. 8,977 attend kindergarten, 23,573 attend elementary schools and 18,809 attend high schools.

Gymnasia Herzlia was in Yaffo and then was moved to Tel-Aviv. It is one of the most notable schools to be found in the area. Gymnasia Herzlia was a school that was not only taught education, but it was also taught about Tel-Aviv's culture and still does today. Tel-Aviv University is one of the most biggest institution for higher education.The great Synagogue that was established in the 1930's is located in Tel-Aviv.In fact there are over a hundred synagogues that are located in the city. Hassan Bek Mosque are Tel-Avivs most famous landmarks. Jaffa is known as a home for many Christians and Muslims. During the last couple of years, churches in Tel-Aviv have increased.
