The nightclubs in Jakarta almost always feature those famous international bands and singers. On weekends they are open all the way until 4:00 am. Jakarta also has a lot of mega cinemas that both show English language movies and subtitled films. There are theatres and casinos for its locals and visitors to engage in.

Dancing in Indonesia is considered as an art and it is encouraged and practiced among its children. There are also performances in local village halls and squares, also in most of the country's major hotels that is performed by professional touring groups. Indonesia's dances would vary in a great deal from the style and the number of performers. Some of the remarkable dances in the country are Legong, it is a slow graceful dance style of the divine nymphs; Baris, is a fast moving and noisy male demonstration more like a warlike behavior; another is the Jauk, which is a riveting solo dance offering that is performed by a masked and a splendidly costumed demon; Cecak or often called as the Monkey Dance is considered by the majority as the most dramatic among all the dances combine, as it calls for a hundred or even more swift participants. Most of the big hotels especially in Bali have dance shows that are accompanied by the distinctively Indonesian Gamelan Orchestras.

All through out the whole year, there are a number of local moonlight festivals that tourists should really check. There are also puppets in Indonesia that are internationally acclaimed and have shows for visitors and guests that are staged in different locations in the country.

Shopping

Indonesia is famous for its batik cloth, sculpture, woodcarvings, woven baskets, silverwork, hats, crises or the small daggers, woven cloth, bamboo articles and paintings. The exciting thing about Indonesian stalls and small shops is that swapping of items is available.

Shopping hours

Shopping centers are open from Monday to Sunday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. While most of the local markets are open for business either at dusk or an early morning. But in small towns, shops would close around 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
