Revolutionary War American

The revolutionary war pertains essentially to the American revolutionary war. It started from 1775 and ended on 1783, spanning over eight years on an average. It was a war fought between the thirteen British colonies of the North American continent. The events that culminated in war were essentially related to the fact that the fight assumed an international form as the foreign nations allied with the colonists of America.

The revolutionary war was a direct result of the colonists dethroning the British rule as a part of the diplomatic and political American Revolution. The revolutionaries assumed the takeover of each of the thirteen individual colonial governments in 1775. These governments were basically set up by the Second Continental Congress. Eventually, a Continental army was formed. In 1776, the revolutionaries formally declared the United States of America as the new nation and finally declared their independence.

Though the British succeeded, to some extent, in capturing and occupying coastal cities by their use of the naval superiority during the revolutionary war, yet the populated countryside could not get into their control. This was largely due to the small size of their army. After the Americans won over Saratoga (an entire British army surrendered), France declared war on Britain and signed alliance treaties with new nations to this respect in the summer of 1778. During the years 1779 and 1780, the two countries, Dutch Republic and Spain also went to fight with Britain.

France highlighted its importance by the crucial naval victory in the Chessapake. This led to a second British army, in 1781, to surrender and eventually, in 1783, the end of the revolutionary war was heralded by the Treaty of Paris. It finally led to the full recognition of the United States of America (on the territory that is basically bounded by the Mississippi river in the west, Florida to the south and Canada to the north).

The revolutionary war may be essentially called as a civil war that was fought on foreign soil. The war comprised residents of both the nations. It was basically after the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, it was proved it was a war between the Americans and the British but it is equally true that without the French assistance, this war would not have been won. If we compare the American Revolutionary War to the English Civil War, we can say that the descent was mutually same in both the cases, only the nationalities were different. But a war, as we all know is tremendously draining on the resources of all the countries involved in the conflict. Similar fate happened to the defeated British country that had all its human and financial resources down the drain.
