People Smoke Students
This is my third semester at Fresno City/Clovis College and everything is going well, but there is one thing that really bothers me and some of my fellow students on campus. Everywhere I go I can smell the repulsive and nerve racking smell of tobacco. It's a smell that disgusts me and others who are non smokers. Every place you go around City College you can smell it. You can even smell tobacco when there is not anyone smoking in class. Smoking shouldn't be allowed on college property actually it shouldn't be allowed on any school property. It causes sickness to others, distracts others from concentrating, causes littering, and last of all it pollute our lungs. It can also increase the smoking rate in our sociality, which means more people will die from smoking. Smoking in College should be ban from college.
The first problem with smoking on school campus is that it can kill you, but other people around you also even if that person isn't smoking and it the smell of tobacco gets on your clothes it will stink. It gives people a hard time breathing if you're walking behind a smoker while going to class. Smoking on college campus fills the air with a nasty sense to even breathe. In addition you can sometimes even smell it in doors. It makes you not even want to go to school sometimes because you just don't want to smell tobacco in the air and poisoning yourself by breathing.
Secondly every school doesn't like students littering on there school because it makes the school very dislikeable for new students and makes the school look like trash. It just makes the environment of the school look very bad and very dislikeable. It also populates our environment. We all want our environment to be clean and safe place to live.
Thirdly, second hand smoking can also be worst because it can make the smoker feel dizzy and act differently and it also smells as bad as tobacco. In addition it can even bother students even more by the smell and how the smoker is acting. It's a big disturbs to people on campus. Furthermore it makes people do drug dealing on campus which shouldn't be allowed.
Last of all smoking can disturbs students in class if a smoker just finishes a cigarette then goes into class and sit by a non smoker. This can make the non smoker very sick or disgusted with all the smell going into that person lungs and it can also make the non smoker not concentrate on his or her work. Smoking can also harm the one who are smoking too. It can create cancer in your lungs and also can kill you. In addition it can give the smoker a hard time to breathe and thousands of people get infected by this and die. Another reason to ban smoking on school campus is because if some just finish a cigarette and walk into a room filled with 50 people, everyone would be able to smell it and it just stinks the whole room. It will also change the atmosphere in the room.
For example, one day in my Calculus class we had a big test that was worth a whole grade letter. I came in prepared to take my test, but eventually while I was taking my test there was a smoker who had just finish a cigarette came in and sat next to me. The smell made my stomach feel odd in a way where I could not concentrate on the test. I was also sweating and I could not stand the smell so I had to go outside to get some fresh air. This is why I am writing this letter to you. It gives non smokers a disgusting feel in there body where they can not concentrate all the time when there is a smoker sitting next to you. There are things that the school board can do to make both smokers and non smokers have there own space. The school board can make an area around the school campus just for a place to smoke, so it does not bother the non smokers around campus, but in my opinion I would like for the school board to ban smoking on college campus. Or we can have a poll on if college should ban or not ban on school smoking.
Here is the question why do people smoke for? They know its bad for them but why do they still do it when they know its going to shorten your life span. Smoking can lead to bad side effects such ass cancer, coughing and even death. The amazing thing is that some people would still smoke when they are coughing out blood and can hardly get up. Surely smokers try to quit smoking but it's an addiction that will follow them once you start your first cigarette. Some people can quit, but it takes a lot of effort and courage to do so.
In conclusion, if college campus lets students continue to smoke on campus it will not just bother non smokers, but it will increase the rate of deaths of smoking. Creating more and more people dying every year is all because of smoking. When more people die the less people will attend to school because they are all dead from smoking their lungs out and no non smoker wants to be a part of that. School smoking should be ban because it kills and it doesn't do any good for students, but make them not focus on school so as the non smokers who smell it.
