Paper Information Writing
What I have learned about research in this course is that there are many ways to write something. Being thorough with your work and picking the right topic will allow you to have a successful paper. From this class I have been taught to gather your resources, jot down full bibliographical information (author, title, place of publication, publisher, date of publication, page numbers, URLs, creation or modification dates on Web pages, and your date of access) printout, or enter the information on your laptop or desktop computer for later retrieval. I have even found it easy to just save the information found to a USB card. If I am printing from the Internet, it is wise to set up the browser to print the URL and date of access for every page. Be sure that the sites your using are reliable and that you can back your self up with any information obtained.
I would say the most difficult thing for me was making sure that the source I was using was a reliable source. So I would research the source very thorough before using it. Then if any information I found was used in my work citing it correctly would be the other thing. I have since learned how to do this and I know in my future classes I will be successful at writing a paper. The student's feedback was also very helpful and has taught me things I never knew. The easiest thing for me would be that wants I find a topic and start to write I could go on forever because it is flowing right out of me like water. I can vision what it is I am trying to write about and put it on paper.
When it comes to writing a thesis I would do critical thinking and write something down in one sentence. This has helped me to better choose what will stand out and explain my paper. I have learned how to organize all the information that was gathered for my research or essay paper. When writing in third party never use I or you. I have done this and it can be hard not to use when you are trying to explain something. This I am still working on because I do slip up at times.
Plagiarism is another thing that I have learned a lot about. I know to use only my words and I will be safe, but if using the words of another person as your own you must always cite the source because it is not of your own work. This is very critical! I always proofread my final paper carefully for spelling, punctuation, missing or duplicated words. I will make every effort to ensure that my final paper is clean, tidy, neat, and attractive. I always tend have my final paper ready a day or two before the deadline. This has always given me peace of mind and a chance to triple check. So remember before handing in your assignment, ask yourself: "Is this the VERY BEST that I can do?"
