Personal and professional skills play the important affecting role for the development of business as a whole. To become a successful manager a person must have both personal and professional skills. Professionalism and attitude are most important factor to improve personal and professional skills. To become a good leader and show good leadership quality one must possess the personal and professional skills. The key purpose of the personal and the professional skills is to develop good management and leadership in the people that helps any organisation to provide direction , facilitate change and achieve results through the efficient, creative and responsible use of resources.
Personal and professional skills are important to make future planning of the organisation.

Leadership Skills: A simple definition of leadership is that leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.
Put even more simply, the leader is the inspiration and director of the action. He or she is the person in the group that possesses the combination of personality and skills that makes others want to follow his or her direction.

Social skills: Ability to communicate, persuade, and interact with other members of the society, without undue conflict or disharmony is called social skills.
Stress management: A set of techniques used to help an individual cope more effectively with difficult situations in order to feel better emotionally. Stress as a physical, mental, or emotional response to events that causes bodily or mental tension. Simply put, stress is any outside force or event that has an effect on our body or mind.
Stress can be caused by any type of change we may experience and is difficult to define because it is perceived differently by different people. Stress management is thought to be the ability to experience stress without the accompanying mental or physical stress response/ symptoms
Researchers define stress as a physical, mental, or emotional response to events that causes bodily or mental tension. Simply put, stress is any outside force or event that has an effect on our body or mind.
Decision making: The process of making an informed choice among the alternative actions that is possible. Given a forecast and the known skill of the forecast
Decision making can be regarded as an outcome of mental processes (cognitive process) leading to the selection of a course of action among several alternatives. Every decision making process produces a final choice. The output can be an action or an opinion.
Problem solving: A quality improvement approach that involves objectively identifying the causes of a problem and proposing potential, often creative, solutions
An individual’s capacity to use cognitive processes to confront and resolve real, cross-disciplinary situations where the solution is not immediately obvious, and where the literacy domains or curricular areas that might be applicable are not within a single domain of mathematics

Communication skill: Communication is the process of attempting to impart information from a sender to a receiver with the use of a medium. Communication requires that all parties have an area of communicative commonality. There are auditory means, such as speaking, singing and sometimes tone of voice, and nonverbal, physical means, such as body language, sign language, paralanguage, touch, eye contact, or the use of writing. Communication is defined as a process by which we assign and convey meaning in an attempt to create shared understanding. This process requires a vast repertoire of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, listening, observing, speaking, questioning, analyzing, and evaluating. Use of these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that collaboration and cooperation occur.
1.3 Factor that determine the Personal and the professional skills:
There are triple E’s that largely determines our personal and professional skills which are mentioned below.
Environment largely affects the personal and the professional skills. Here environment basically refers to the surrounding of the personal. Though it affects indirectly to the person’s life but has the major influence so as to develop his way of behaving, develops the skills so as handle the issues, and develop the way of reacting towards his personal goal and professional goal as well.
Firstly, when we define experience it usually refers as the person being used to any kind of overcoming situation. Though it was regarded as the second important factor for the person to develop his professional skill, but nowadays it is considered as the prime factor in the corporate world. Generally experience makes the person works to be smooth in manner.
Whenever we talks about education it is regarded as prime factor in the person’s life. Persons without education would like be raw hand or we can say empty hand as well. Education not only brings the skill but develops the person attitude and behaviour in the long term.
1.4 Methods to improve Professional and personal skill.

1 Improve Reading skills
Reading skills is one of the effective ways to develop and make out the meaning or we can say the ability to grasp.
2. Improve Writing Skills
Until and unless we don’t have the ability to write or to express what we want to say in the the form of writing we don’t succeed in personal as well as in professional life. It is such a skill to disclose the view, feeling, expression and so on.
3. Improve Active Listening Skills
When we talk about listening skills it relates somewhat to the patience, concentration of the individual. There is saying that “Successful managers listens more and speak less”. If we applied the same principle in the daily life then it is sure that the person would be effective and efficient in his/her life.
4. Improve Leadership skill
Leadership skill refers to the ability to lead others. It is such a skill which involves the directing and influencing others. Development of leadership skill helps the person to be better than manager when it comes to influencing the group, individual.
5. Improve Research Skills
Research skill is such a skill which makes the individual to be practical oriented rather than theoretical oriented. To learn any subject with a more in depth or any person who is inquisitive in nature then it helps a lot.

2.2 Identify my learning style.
The learning style is generally known as educating method to an individual. There are various models used for identifying the learning styles. Among them the popular categorisation of learning style is given by Kolb learning style and another given by Honey and Mumford. These two models have the similar approach to learning style. Honey and Mumford use three definitions such as: Pragmatist, Theorist, Activist, and Reflector where as Kolb’s learning style use: Converging, Assimilating, Diverging, and Accommodating.
According to Honey and Mumford the following questionnaire is used to describe the individual learning style:

According to Honey and Mumford, I consider myself as Pragmatism where as Converging (Doing and Thinking) according to Kolb. This type of people is practical persons and likes to solve problems as well as enjoy experimenting to improve techniques. I think that learning could be obtained through proven practical oriented application. This happens to me while reading the newspaper specially Financial Times. I study only that part of section which has been accepted by all and has the practical implication. At the same time, learning could be obtained through sufficient number of case studies and simulations applications.
2.3 Analyse how I am managing my Time and Stress.
Stress is not bad in itself rather it is believed that stress helps the person to prepare for certain challenges. But it should be noted that too much stress leads to physical and emotional problem. Generally, Eustress is seen as positive approach rather than distress. According to Richard Lazarus (1974) stress is healthy or gives one a felling of fulfilment.
According to Research the causes of stress could be analyse in following category -
Lack of effective time management
Too much work pressure and so on
When we take into consideration regarding the effect of time management and stress in our day-to-day routine many people are directly influenced from either positive part of stress or negative part of stress. Having said that the more you do time planning the more you are in control. So analysing this statement we could visualize that time management is the most important aspects to manage stress. The effective way of doing work is should be realistically and practically according to daily time log. Logging the time for a week is one of the widely accepted and effective and efficient ways of dealing with stress. Sometimes the classification of to-do-list for the specific work sound better according to priority to work.
For e.g. Marking items as “A”, “B” or “C” in priority list of the day. And at the end of the day we should spend few minutes to review the list. Similarly, we could ask ourselves the following questions so as to see the end result.
Do I am in control of time?
How much do I spend on planned activities?
How much time do I spend on tasks other people could do?
Does I was busy to solve the low-priority work keeping apart of high-priority activities?
Is there any area that I need to change?

Recently I am doing APDMS. When I graduate I want to build my career in Business sector, where I have to be updated with lots of information and knowledge which I have to communicate with others in the organization or outside. I, myself think that I am not up to that level in the communication skill; which is very essential in both my profession and personal life. So, I must develop my communication skill to get success in the professional field, hence, during my MBA study I my focus will basically be on improving communication skill.
Learning and Development need
(i) Short term goal To pass the Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies (APDMS) with merit and make a fluency communication skill through APDMS and MBA coruces.
(ii) Medium term goal To get M.B.A from recognized University of U.K
To obtain professional course related to Banking & Finance
(iii) Long term goal To Start successful and committed career in Commercial Sector
Learning actions to be taken including resources needed to achieve them
(i) Short term goal Enough study time with foundation knowledge of business environment and operational level
(ii) Medium term goal Detailed analysis of issues raised in corporate level & business level
(iii) Long term goal Professional level of training & development is required. Enough time to spend on learning principles and techniques implemented by the successful entrepreneur.

1. Goal: My main goal is to develop the effective ways communication during my MBA course.
2. Type of goal: The goal is both personal and academic skill development which will help me in my professional life.
3. Purpose of goal: I will now definitely learn more about my communication skill, and will also search the area where I need more improvement.
4. Major benefit to me: Communication is very essential and important skill of a person. The improvement in this will obviously help me to achieve good marks on my study, and also help to enhance my professional career.
5. Benefit to others: As communication is a two way process, the improvement in this skill will not only benefit me but it will have a positive impact on others also. Without effective communication I will not be able to deliver the information to others clearly and this will hamper both me and my organization. So, improvement in my communication skill will also benefit others.
6. Barriers: Barriers are inevitable; they block the way in which we communicate with each other. Effective communication is essential in each and every step of our life. I know that my communication skill is not more effective, and the reason behind this is that my vocabulary, pronunciation, tone, and presentation skill is not too good, so, I think that this is the barrier of communication for me.
7. Solution: The solution to overcome this barrier is that I must focus more on using dictionary, listening to news, attending seminars, reading books.
8. Action milestones: At the beginning I will focus and try to overcome one factor that affects the effective communication and then gradually move towards the other factors and try to solve them.
9. Overall target date: Though the duration of my course is 18 months, I have only 13 months left to complete the course. So, I am planning to develop my communication skill within 13 months.
10. Progress tracking: For improving my communication skill, I will use the checklist method and will keep on practicing, and also ask feedback from professors, friends.

4. Major benefit to me: Enhancing my expertise in dealing with mass in my work.
5. Benefit to others: If my communication skill is improved then I will be able to do better for my company also, this is because I will be able to communicate with the customers effectively and efficiently.
6. Barriers: As I wish to be engaged in a bank, I don’t think that without good communication skill I will be able to serve my customers in a better way.
7. Solution: To overcome with this barrier, I must practice different ways of communication either in home, in class, in work place, attending seminars.
8. Action milestones: Setting reasonable and achievable time line deliverables is the key to setting milestones. On the Gantt chart, each milestone is based on the achievement of tasks and subtasks that are prerequisite to reaching that milestone. This is a process that I am totally comfortable with.
9. Overall target date: The overall target date for achieving my aim is the completion of this course, i.e. July 2009.
10. Progress tracking: For improving my communication skill, I will use the checklist method and will keep on practicing, and also ask feedback from professors, friends.
