Critical Reflection And Research On Information Techonology

This report provides a comprising critical reflection of my learning progress. I will discuss the topics that I found interesting during the delivery of Research in IT module and which i logged during my studies. This report is split into sections which will provide an insight into various topics including the key theoretical, conceptual and applied learning points that I have researched.

It will describe, explain and analyse how and where my learning has taken place and will also indicate any events of significance that influenced my learning in general and in research methods and information technology in particular

I will also mention the Learning Outcomes and explain how my learning relates to this . I will reflection on my previous understanding and current and explain what I am able to do better now? What new principles have I understood? What new competences have I acquired? What questions remain? What would I do next time? What surprised me? Who and what helped?

9thLecture (Date 28.07.2010)

1.9

10 Lecture (Date 05.08.2010)

1.1 How to manage time?

In first Lecture I learnt about managing time and it is very important in our every day life. There are 24 hours in a day 7 days in a Lecture so all this time how I manage this is called managing time.

Managing time has three stages: (REFERENCE)

Decide what you want to do

Analyse what you are doing

Improving the way you do things

Dealing with the unexpected

As an individual I can decide how I best use of my time. From the reasech i have gathered I have devised my own strategy to manage time below:

A) Prepare a calendar/ Prepare a Lecture schedule/ Prepare a daily organizer.

B)

C)

.

1.2 How to do team works? And what is team assessment?

In 2nd lecture I learnt about the team work which is very essential for our every day life.

Team work: A team is a group of individuals working together to achieve a common goal. From the foregoing it follows tat team work is a process where by a small number of people commonly 3-10 with complementary skills become committed to a common purpose and a reach agreement on an specific targets. The all team members always keeping in touch with the identify and integrity of numbers, (Serrat, 2009).

I also learnt about Peer assessment. An innovative form of assessment what students are involved in the assessment of other students. I also learnt principles of giving feedback.

Figure 1. There is a chart shown bellow which indicates the relationship of the important qualities of the meaningful assessment. (Mui So, 2004).

1.3 What is research? How to do a research?and benifit of research? In third Lecture I learnt that about research.

Research: Includes any gathering of data, information facts for the advancement of knowledge is called research. Reference?

The Oxford Encyclopaedic Dictionary define research: The systematic investigation into the study of materials, sources etc in order to establish facts and new conclusions.

The Higher Education Funding Council For England defined research as original investigation under taken in order standing.

Three key terms in this definition are worth exploring-

Original

Gain

knowledge

From the above definition I think research benefit is –

Learning a topic in depth

Ability to work and

Think independently

In this Lecture I also learnt research validity, Research process and Research model also.

1.4 What is the source of litateture review?

In 4th Lecture I learnt about literature review and searching the literature

Literature Review: This is relevant of description of the literature to a particular field in a topic. It gives an overview of what has been said, who the key written are, what are the prevailing theories and hypotheses. Ib link.

There are two sources of litareture which are primary and secondary (reference)

Primary source of litareture are:

Reports

Theses

Emails

-Conference reports

-Some Government Publication

-Unpublished manuscript sources

Secondary literature source are

-Newspapers

-textbooks

-Journals

-Internet

-Some government Publication.

So from all this sources I can find our literature review. Aktar ,M(2010)

1.5 Conducting the search? And what is literature review

In the 5th Lecture I learnt about conducting search and this means......

Conducting the search: Limit the extent of our search according the time available. In conducting the search I learnt about the internet search engines are (RIT lecture ???):

-Google

-Alta vista

-Ask Jeeves

-A11 4 one meta search engines

-Serious (medical information)

-BUBL link

I also learnt about the managing the litaterure Review:

Citation Relevance tree: It is a method for visually mapping the connection betIen citation. In each paper or article published by an author. They will cite other paper and articles written by other author or themselves and those paper will likewise cite others. As the connection build the classic nbrancing tree shape is formed. I cab build citation trees by using a citation index which is identifies how many times a particular articles has been cited and by whom. (From Ib link)

From that Lectureture I also learnt elements of good review and also what is writing review when I write a literature review I need to care full about some points then our writing literature should be correct. So I need to learn about this.

6 .1 What is Research perspective? What is Socio technical approach?

6th Lecture: Research Perspectives is very important topic for research information technology in 6th Lecture I learnt about research perspective.

Research perspective: Approaches to and reasoning behind, information systems reach become apparent when vieId from five perspectives by moushowitz (1981)

-Technism

-Elitism

-progress individualism

-Pluralism

-Radical criticism

(From Lectureture notes)

I also learnt about the Socio Techional Approach

Socio technical approach:

-A combination of technical system components and social system components.

-Provide guidance on what a better system is and how to achieve it.

-Socio technical approach works betIen people and technology.

So the socio technical approach is there for able to provide guidance on what a better system is and how to achieve it. Aktar M (2010)

7.1 What is open system? I learn about work centred analysis and soft system methodology

7th Lecture: This Lecture I learnt about the Open system, what is the value of chain, what is business process, Work centred analysis Soft Systems Methodology.

Open system: An open system is an state of a system in which it continuously interacts with its environment.

Open systems contrast with closed systems, a system that is isolated from its surrounding environment. (Lectureture notes)

1.8 What is supply chain management? What is customer relationship management?

In lecture eight I learnt about mean customer relation management and supply chain management.

.

Supply chain management: SCM is an Lecture etronic alternative to the traditional paper chain providing companies with a smarter faster more efficient way to get the right customer at the right time.

Example: Dell Company

Customer relationship management: CRM is the conservative and Lecturetive investigation of prehistoric and historic remains includes laws and practices deigned to protect present and past culture resources.

Example: Sainsbury, Tesco.

Reflection

In RIT module we learn lots of topics which related our

I will also mention the Learning Outcomes and explain how my learning relates to this . I will reflection on my previous understanding and current and explain what I am able to do better now? What new principles have I understood? What new competences have I acquired? What questions remain? What would I do next time? What surprised me? Who and what helped?

Conclusion: Already the above discussion It is clear that, from this module I learn lots of important topics which topics helps us now and it will also help us in our future life. In research Information Technology module I have covered alot of topics which Ire new and which will support me throughout my studies. From this module I learn how to make a log book and after finishing every Lectureture I write our log book so all Lectureture summary I have in our log book so easily this log book help us in our assignment and this is also a evidence this helps in our future life. In our Research Information Technology module class our Lectureture teach us about all ground rules for example in class time don’t talk each other, do not eat food or drinks in a class room, switch our mobile phone so from this class I all are know about the ground rules and now I all maintain this rules and this is very important for a student. From this module I also learn how to do group work and what is peer assessment so This can help me in my future life when I join for a work then I all works successfully with my colleagues.
