What makes a good writer?

A good writer is someone who recognises that the most important part of academic writing is not what you think, but how your ideas and hypotheses relate to established academic theory and evidence. Most people can write an essay talking about management, business or another subject, but the best writers will understand the theories and studies that have occurred before, and how current issues and problems are related to previous theories. It is not enough to simply write about a topic; instead you must link it to other ideas and theories in order to demonstrate a good understanding of how the topic has developed and how it could develop in the future. I joined Deloitte Management Consultants as a Strategy and Operations Analyst after graduating university, and was promoted to a Consultant after two years.

I worked with clients across all industries, including banking, media, telecommunications and the public sector.

How do you feel that your work benefits students?

The most obvious way in which my work benefits students is that it provides them with the level of personal attention that most lecturers and supervisors will never give.
