Civilization

Civilization is the general transformation or progression from one lower stage to another that includes several aspects of composite authority in spiritual, law or solid organizational values. These include communal, superior of quality thinking and general performance joined together for the benefit of bigger population.

Most of the Historians have found out that the larger and densely inhabited urban areas were the first places to experience civilization. Civilization has a solid attachment from the ancient to present state. The “‘west” was at first referred to as European counties and also included both South and North America. Historical studies have revealed that to recognize the modernity of the present world it is indeed essential to explore the emergence of western civilization.

The ancient Near East had the earliest known evolution record that made the foundations of western civilization. This was the first region of perennial and constant agriculture. It will be remembered that writing system was actually adopted from there. This was the home of many first astrologists and mathematicians. The first federal governments and empires were founded here.

The banks of Euphrates and Tigris Rivers were homes of ancient cities. The first step of what is known to be the basis of democratic governance that influenced the western civilization was founded in Greece where Hellenistic civilization started.

The Hellenistic civilization was the spread of Greek culture and ideologies in their conquered regions. Following the capture of the Persian Empire by Alexander the Great, the rest of Greek colonies especially Antioch and Alexandria adopted the Greek cultures.” Hellenistic” is traced back to the Greek customary racial name,” Hélène”, which was recognized by Johann Gustav, the great German historian.

There was also the Roman Republic, which actually contained the great ancient Roman civilization. This era started after the defeat of the Monarchy (510 BC) that went up to over 450 years period. Several strains were brought about by rapid expansion of the territory that eventually resulted to civil disobedience, to the murder of Julius Caesar in the 44 B.C.

After the death of Caesar, the leadership was taken over by his teen relative who brought drastic changes at that early age and immediately earned him honor to create the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire had a great role in Western transformation. The Roman territory extended from the center of Italy to whole of the Mediterranean region, spreading to Spain up to North Africa.

In the 16th Century after the plunge of the Western Roman Empire, came the middle Ages. When the curtain came down on the reign of Rome, their main concern was how to make good association with its neighbors, which it massively depended on. This Involved several agreements on treaties that were made among the immediate allies. This was the period that primarily saw western and northern European countries gain civilization.

Renaissance

This was referred as the great “recovery”, that meant another new approach to growth started taking another dimensional path. Studies show that Renaissance emerged in Italy around AD 1350, and then went across Europe up to 1600. It was seen that positive approach to a more meaningful life was necessary due to changing world at that time. Studies of various subjects such as language, literature, art, history and Philosophy were extensively carried out; that would later transform the age of many discoveries.

The Renaissance was followed by the renovation, basic originally laid foundations in European record, which began around the 16th century. During the restructuring the Christian Church experience shocking splits, among many theologians repudiating Roman influence over belief and spiritual matters.

Several royalties made serious adjustments due to rapid changes that were taking place. European society also changed considerably, with the Renaissance reforming attitudes about government, human rights, law, religion, and wealth. Monarchs were forced to adjust to changing region conditions even as they encouraged their nations to explore and develop new Ideas.

Calamity and Disintegration

Several events were experienced by the beginning of the 14^th century that brought about many set backs in already achieved gains. This almost waved down the European successes to a stand still. Sequence of political fall down and religious uprisings. Continuous famines and dreaded plagues that almost wiped half of the population. There was also civil disobedience and prevalent conflicts.

This was the time when countries like England and France had their kings feuding. The Roman Catholic Church was worst hit by the internal wars. One of the many shortcomings that caused serious set backs was the battle of Drakenburg, which was experienced in the year 1547. Protestant troops badly defeated the imperial army, and this resulted to the spiritual liberty among the Catholics and the Lutherans in the northern part of Germany.

Christianity was actively encouraged by the west because it was perceived as widespread unifying aspect for the spread of the Western culture. The persistent eruption of infection that swept across the Constantinople and eventually France had also devastating effect to the Mediterranean inhabitants. The rise of Islam had some greatest influence in western civilization Islamic religion was regarded as an origin of Abrahamic monotheistic teachings as conveyed by their prophet Muhammad, and started in seventh century.

The white Christian empires initiated several attacks which were in form of campaigns in the 11^th century that saw Muslim world disagree with Christianity. This made Islamic religion provisionally replaced with Buddhism. By the 16^th century again Islam had taken full control of the Persian Gulf and managed to command for another two centuries, even though Europeans were staging sporadic wars. Many conventional themes and cultures that were adopted from the ancient Roman and Greek empires were integrated and eventually reached the far ends of the modern west.

The establishments of modern laws and federal systems of rule that still exist in the west regions are all traced from the ancient empires. The history of ancient civilization has been proved as one of the most challenging studies in the academic field. This require time, dedication and more so, a very sober mind that enables you to gather the past and the present record of human earliest backgrounds, his attempts to achieve higher goals in this present life. In the modern time the western traditions has expanded that even Australia New Zealand and even former colonies of European countries have naturally gotten the idea of western civilization are being called “The West”. Essentials and dominant western perceptions had been seen as the major factors influencing world wide changes.
